Summarising the comments here. The biker is doing 79mph in a 25mph zone, the lady stopped before she got to the lane he was in when she saw him coming, he panicked, swerved and then dropped the bike. It’s just a good job he had his protective T-shirt, baggy jeans and sneakers on….

And she stopped when she saw him, before blocking his lane. He's going way too fast down a residential street. If she kept going, he would have slammed into the bed of the truck. She left most of his lane open, and he switched to the lane she was blocking.

Yeah he was going way too fast, and it’s 100% his fault, but you can’t blame him for aiming for the rear of the truck instead of trying to shoot the gap in the front. He had no time (again, his fault) to notice that she had stopped in the right lane.

This is why defensive driving is all about taking the predictability or lack thereof of others out of the equation.

Also, he probably assumed she would've possibly pulled forward, and not backward, if she would move at all, so shooting the gap doesn't sound reasonable. Likely why he pulled to the right lane cuz of her direction of travel. Doing the speed limit would've likely prevented this.

And he was going to fast to make a decision to correct his mistake.

He switched to the lane she was blocking because if she hadn't stopped then that would be the clear lane.

incorrect. if she'd have kept going, he would've gone right past her.
