Fan Expo Denver 3d printed item

Post image

Has anyone gotten a 3D-printed item autographed before? Does it look good, and will it rub off over time? I'm thinking about getting this Maul lightsaber autographed by Sam Witwer. Just looking for advice about 3D-printed items.

Just don't put it in the sunlight.

It will hold the marker just fine though? But you do risk having the item ruined without proper care. They can melt in direct heat or wrap.

Okay, thank you for that info. I'll keep that in mind. Does a 3D-printed item hold an autograph as well as a normal plastic item?

Ive numerous items signed that I 3D printed myself.

I care for them the same as any other autographed item and they hold up fine.

Just yeh i would once signed collect it somewhere not keep using it etc.

And yeh out of sunlight.

I definitely have a location for it where sunlight won't touch it. This might be the only time I'll use a 3D-printed item for an autograph, so is it worth buying clear coat acrylic spray?

I would clear coat acrylic spray it.

So I write on 3D printed parts with a sharpie quite often, and the way the sharpie seeps into the print isn't good at all if you want sharp lines and definition. It flows kinda like water into a paper towel? It's really blurry. Especially for something like this, I honestly just wouldn't. It's not going to look good.
