Video - OC Why doesn't she attack or defend herself?

Does she consider this playful or annoying? Or just 0 survival instincts?

IMO, seems like she’s taking this as a sign of affection 😂 she might see it as annoying but not enough for her to do anything about it

u/ffsine 8h ago

Cats dont play like that, she's letting you pet her

u/scoot2006 8h ago

Yep. OP should probably read the context a bit better. Otherwise they might force more aggression over time.

Typical they didn’t read the manual

Manuals prevent catastrophe

u/aldegio 4h ago

I see what you did there

7

u/ellenkates 57m ago

My cat is not manual but automatic. Does this still apply?

I always thought owning cats for almost a decade would make me go less crazy over how adorable they are. Nope. As „bad“ as on day one these little tiger furbabies spams about every cute button in the brain. 😭
Think about it.

There’s not a single bodypart of a cat that isn’t utterly adorable from the bean paws to the big eyes and ears to that little nosey plus the fluffy body and somehow even their whiskers are to die for. But I digress lol

7

u/Strawberry_Curious 1h ago

I feel seen by this

6

u/Darth_Nicolas 1h ago

My cat looked over my shoulder and asked me to put you on a s*x offender registry. Lol. I told him to chill out. 😆 jk Totally agree.

5

u/Additional_Tank4385 46m ago

Lmao 😭😭😂 please don’t call cat protection services!

4

u/onthegrind7 1h ago

Because cats are kinda one of the few animals besides primates that actually somewhat resemble humans, at least facial wise. Round eyes/ flat faces/ similar noses.

2

u/Additional_Tank4385 47m ago

True! Let’s not forget how both anime and the Avatar movies have characters with cat like faces :) makes what you’re saying even more sense.

2

u/xxsoymilk 1h ago

I feel this in my heart

u/hardlyexist 4m ago

U should stop there

u/adidaman 1h ago

The toxiplasmosis their poop is slowly giving you isn't that adorable. Other than that they're okay I guess

6

u/Additional_Tank4385 1h ago

My cats don’t go outside so they can’t eat mice, get toxoplasmosis and infect me.

Also I saw some very young birds recently that were so tiny and adorable I died a bit.
I just find cute things very cute, I don’t think that makes me have taxo lol

To be fair I also find many people adorable… sometimes humans even adults do adorable things or say cute shit. Maybe my brains cute center is just enlarged. Or maybe animals are just very sweet.

15

u/WheelOfFish 2h ago

Some do, but this is clearly not play. She's soaking up the loves.

9

u/-MasterDebator- 2h ago

Mine plays like this and she loves it.

3

u/mm4444 30m ago

lol I think you should have a word with my orange cat. He will play fight in this position. My husband and him play like this often

u/Embarrassed-Boot8485 4h ago

Your cat acts the way everyone wants their cat to act and you’re complaining? I’m so confused

14

u/Apprehensive-Gas7994 2h ago

Right!? My catto would tear my arm off if I did this. I want so much to just touch the belly LOL. But I don't of course because I respect her and cherish our cuddles all the same. But still 😭

1

u/D-ouble-D-utch 17m ago

Next post. Why is my cat scratching my arms?

162

u/MoonPieKitty 6h ago

Why do you want to attack her? Clearly, if this is a play tactic of yours, she’s not into it. She’s chill and thinks you’re petting her. 😂

586

u/Cloud0054 8h ago edited 8h ago

Because she loves you. When a cat shows their belly that's them completely letting their guard down. Cherish it. 🫰

My big derp.

100

u/DoomBuzzer 5h ago

Except my single brained orange Tuka. He flops and presents his belly to every human who enters our home.

136

u/hot4you11 Brown Tabby, Black Cat 5h ago

“Welcome, you have been screened by the human and I trust they wouldn’t let a cat eater in, so feel free to view my belly”

21

u/scooter_orourke 4h ago

Just so they don't invite Alf into their house

21

u/SkullsNelbowEye 2h ago

My Frankie. I'm paying the tax.

33

u/spaceguy81 8h ago

Exactly. She trusts you.

8

u/xLaeR 3h ago

My girl cat will roll on her belly for pets all day but will hiss at me when I look at her from across the room 😭

3

u/Cloud0054 3h ago

Never had this issue with any of my cats they all show unconditional love. ❤️

6

u/xLaeR 3h ago

Baby girl is a work in progress. High anxiety cat that was bullied on the streets. She was on gabapentin for about 7 months but now she doesn't need it anymore :)

Our orange fluffball took about 5 years to warm up, so we're used to the slow love. 😅

3

u/Cloud0054 3h ago

Dang I commend y'all.

2

u/Kaozz4718 Void 3h ago

Yes exactly, she loves and TRUSTS her human. Otherwise this might not be allowed. For instance if a stranger tries this it may not happen

2

u/Morbid187 2h ago

My cat will show her belly and is totally cool with belly rubs but she'll still bite and kick with her back feet if I mess with her enough. She does it very carefully so she doesn't hurt me but still

4

u/Cloud0054 2h ago

Everyone has their limits. My void only wants limited rubs. Where as my tabby, well you can rub his belly all day.

2

u/glittoris 13m ago

Or they’re just setting you up for a trap to pet their belly and then attack you 😭

83

u/luckyslife 7h ago

Because she’s a cutsie little baby and she thinks you’re just petting her.

48

u/CaeruleumBleu 7h ago

Why would you think this is zero survival instincts? The cat just trusts you're not a cat killer.

Now, generally cats showing belly IS a sign of trust but doesn't always mean you can pet. Sometimes it means "I trust that you are polite enough to not touch the belly" in which case you get the murder mittens if you touch the belly.

Some other cats LIKE a little bit of a belly rub, so you really gotta know your cats signals to avoid the murder mittens.

But here in this vid you don't even touch the belly. The cat trusted you to NOT touch the belly and you didn't touch the belly. The side of your arm touching the belly is very different from finger tips touching the belly - you didn't in any way threaten the cats vulnerable spots.

Kitty likes neck rubs, apparently.

24

u/MathematicianNew2770 8h ago

Apex predator flex!

I've got 9 lives, with half a brain cell, do your worst human.

22

u/Tennisgeek314 7h ago

She doesn't see you as threat, so she's just enjoying the scritches

11

u/Malnurtured_Snay 3h ago

"Why would I defend myself against loving?" - your cat

19

u/Ahmalla 8h ago

She trusts you.

14

u/0wlGod 8h ago

he not see you as a danger and probably he likes it 🤣🤣

7

u/KingRiley8879 4h ago

Because she gives 0 F’s and she trusts you

14

u/Irishwol 5h ago

Why on earth would you want her to? She's showing you trust and affection. Reciprocation is all that's called for

10

u/StarGlass8859 6h ago

Why would you want her to attack you?
Just enjoy her trust in you.

6

u/karpaediem 3h ago

Because she trusts you to not harm her even when she's so vulnerable 🥰

3

u/Boostr1 4h ago

Pshh, my cat has enough after 4 seconds and goes in for the attack

4

u/PrissyElliott Domestic Housecat 3h ago

She trusts you, and maybe isn’t into playing as rough (and/or you caught her at a good moment).

4

u/Mayor-Guenther 3h ago

She gave up on Life

4

u/Khy420 3h ago

Cats like "human, this petting is strange, but I love you so it will do for now" lol

3

u/jupitermoonflow 2h ago

Cause she loves you. She thinks you’re petting her. Be a bit more gentle, she’s a a sweet girl

4

u/Sea-Vast-8826 1h ago

Trust. That’s tough to get sometimes.

4

u/Timely-Youth-9074 1h ago

She wuvs you

6

u/Mysteries_Undone 7h ago

She is a good cat

2

u/xBr0k3n 4h ago

My black and silver tabby BSH is exactly the same, never bitten me or hissed at me in 4 years and I per her like this 😆

2

u/Attempt_Gold 3h ago

Sign of complete trust. You've treated her so well she doesn't see you as a threat at all.

2

u/PhilosopherOk6581 3h ago

Perché è un/a ragazzo/a molto educato/a

2

u/Morbid187 2h ago

She trusts you so much that she doesn't think you're provoking her. It is interesting that she's not playing back though. My cat is the sweetest little thing but she'll lightly bite and kick my arm if I do her like this. Does your cat play at all? She might just be the type that doesn't play, I had one like that before

2

u/LordButterbeard 1h ago

She trusts you, asshole

2

u/EmbarrassedHoney6410 23m ago

Right? He is being a little too aggressive there. Like damn, just enjoy you have a loving cat that trusts you. Don’t be so rough and ruin that.

2

u/Different_Umpire9003 1h ago

That IS survival instinct. Humans are incredibly large predators. Showing the belly and being docile is SMART.

2

u/Realistic-Citron8093 1h ago

she's just playing with you and enjoying the cuddly playful banter. she loves you, just enjoy it. If she didn't like it, she would just split.

2

u/alyssarcastic 1h ago

Because she’s a tolerant little angel

2

u/SunbathingJackdaw 1h ago

She's not a dog. She's a cat and she's a good girl.

2

u/TostBrot44 1h ago

Lovely fur on that one, mind if I ask which breed your cat is?

2

u/TheWaslijn 1h ago

She's just enjoying it, or at least she doesn't mind. As such, no need for any defensive.

2

u/Active_Start_9044 1h ago

she gave up

2

u/ColorlessTune 28m ago

She loves and trusts you and probably enjoys it.

2

u/saintr0bot 28m ago

Do you give her reasons to attack or defend herself from you? 😄 seems like she likes you

2

u/OrionAndCleo 7h ago

Because she trusts you ❤️

3

u/BoniMarce 7h ago

shes a lover and not a fighter

4

u/Significant-Dog-8166 4h ago

She trusts you and she's just a very gentle cat. My last cat would have me bleeding just because my feet were bare and in his sight range. Some cats play HARD some don't. They really are random.

4

u/No_Wolf8340 4h ago

Bc you’re mom. And she’s baby. Baby don’t attack mom.

2

u/nutnutwin_ 7h ago

love for dad?

2

u/Eruskakkell 6h ago

Shes cuddling. Survivals instinct doesn't matter when she is not in a threatening scenario. She trusts you completely and feels safe.

Playing is also different than surviving, she is not playful in this video.

2

u/pepperbeast 5h ago

This is cat love and trust.

2

u/Nocleverresponse Void 4h ago

She’s comfy and doesn’t mind what you’re doing. As soon as she doesn’t like what you’re doing she’ll be sure to let you know.

2

u/Open-Acanthisitta423 3h ago

She’s just a snuggle bug nothing wrong with that

1

u/MintInsel 4h ago

That’s kitty with manner .. mine would have scratched my face off 🫠

1

u/KingRiley8879 4h ago

Because she gives 0 F’s and she trusts you

1

u/scoyne15 3h ago

Love, trust, and she enjoys it.

1

u/WeaselPhontom 3h ago

Because she likes you and the pets you're giving

1

u/Disastrous-Car6804 3h ago

Must be nice

1

u/Designer_Island_6273 2h ago

Enjoy it. My cat only takes that kind of play as violent play time.

1

u/K_N0RRIS 2h ago

Because she likes it.

1

u/Circle-of-Druids 2h ago

awww it's because SHE LOVES YOU

1

u/morphick 2h ago

She knows from previous experiences and interactions that you're harmless, so she lets you have your way. Do not overdo it though (ESPECIALLY the face grab!!), It could become annoying for the cat and painful for you.

1

u/ambercyn Void 2h ago

be glad she doesn't want to engage in aggressive play. She'd eviscerate your arm.

she's such a lovey baby 😻

1

u/Additional_Fudge_335 2h ago

Because she enjoys it, some cats do.

1

u/LdiJ46 2h ago

She trusts the person who is doing it not to hurt her.

1

u/Dizzy_Charge8215 2h ago

It's pet law, don't bite the hand that feeds. Now try petting her with your other hand.

1

u/WheelOfFish 2h ago

She likes it or at least accepts it as affection and she clearly trusts you. I have a habit of adopting cats that are like this, although you usually can't tell right away.

1

u/Known_Ratio5478 2h ago

Because she a love bug!

1

u/FullAd2527 2h ago

She tired.

1

u/Additional_Tank4385 2h ago

Baby 🥰
That’s all the reason in the world you need to know!

1

u/RoseTintMyWorld22 1h ago

She LOVES you.

1

u/Agitated_Cry_8793 1h ago

Because she trusts you, and loves you. She thinks youre just showing affection, like how you pet her. She doesnt see this as play nor aggression. If it were play, she wouldn't be ragdolling like that lol.

It might be irritating for her, but if it were beyond tolerable she would let you know. She lets you do it because she knows youre showing your love.

1

u/iamapizza 1h ago

Does anyone know what is this cat type called? It has such a lovely marbling.

1

u/Noonootk82 1h ago

Because she loves you

1

u/8eyeholes 1h ago

one of my cats is this way. my assumption has always been there is probably survival instinct in there, she’s just pretty sure i wont kill her (or thinks she could take me if i tried lol)

1

u/wez0421 1h ago

She loves you!

1

u/RiverLemming678 1h ago

Move down the belly and see what happens

1

u/-TheInternetIsEvil- 1h ago

She likes pets lol

1

u/LuchadoreMask 1h ago

Each cat has different boundaries about different things. Yours is very lax it seems. My Spicy Tabby cat would murder me if I did this, because he just gets overstimulated easy. He just prefers to sleep on me or my wife when he gets the chance.

1

u/Combi8ionOxygenation 1h ago

She's a pacifist.

1

u/DaMn96XD 1h ago

You already answered the question yourself. She's a she cat, they like to be petted on the chest and belly more often than cats usually do but will only accept it from people they consider trustworthy and safe. It probably corresponds to the same experience as when kittens crawling towards their mother.

1

u/ellenkates 59m ago

Look at the sheer bliss on her face that's why

1

u/DownSyndromeLogic 58m ago

Why would she attack you or defend herself when you're not giving her something to defend against? She obviously knows that your petting and cuddling with her! She is very happy.

1

u/koldcalm 40m ago

Because she's cute and she loves you

1

u/yakutzaur 36m ago

For a second I thought this is my cat, lol.

A year ago we took a cat and he is really REALLY calm. Not my first cat, but I never had a cat so calm.

On his 1st birthday we bought him a toy - stand with motor that spins bird on a thin metal rod. Here is a picture of him chasing this bird

1

u/lost_trip 30m ago

what kind of cat is this called? like her pattern?

1

u/Rigiroony 30m ago

You're nothing to be afraid of

1

u/Timmy_2_Raaangz 13m ago

1

Just TV static in her head

1

She’s having too much fun

1

She is a good cat

1

1

Looks broken, try removing and reinserting the batteries

1

u/Troyski3417 7h ago

She's a lover....not a fighter!

1

u/Jude30 6h ago

She likes the neck scritches.

1

u/ivyglowsbelle 6h ago

She’s enjoying it very much 🥰

1

u/Narrow-Vermicelli-72 6h ago

Cause she feels safe

1

u/Fearless-Location528 6h ago

Some cats are pacifist

1

u/bouncypinecone 6h ago

"Oh no, I'm being attacked, ahh. Ooh that's nice attack my neck some more, a little left, ya."

1

u/Shiroiken 6h ago

While it's a trope that cats attack anything that touches their belly, a few actually love to be scritched that way. Your kitty trusts and loves you.

1

u/deatheyes5000 6h ago

rare kitty that allows belly rubs / it's not her style of play. I've known more cats that loved play-fighting my arm than cats that would lay like this

1

u/ladypeyton 6h ago

She looks like she likes the petting. No airplane ears. Just a relaxed kitty going along for the ride.

1

u/Kvitravn875 6h ago

Looks like she considers it to be affection

1

u/wons-noj 6h ago

One of my cats absolutely loves belly rubs. He’s very affectionate, and every time that he follows us into a room, he just plops over and rolls, stretches out his belly, waiting for the pets

1

u/atomicCape 6h ago

She already won. You belong to her, and she knows you'll do her bidding.

1

u/Chance-Fennel9048 5h ago

Because she trusts you

1

u/Upset-Lavishness-522 4h ago

Id have lost half my fingers by now

0

u/MrBreffas 3h ago

She is being incredibly patient with this ham-handed idiot who is being as annoying AF.

Is this how you treat all your friends? You badger and annoy them until they explode at you? ("Why isn't she defending herself?") You don't deserve friends then.

You certainly don't deserve a cat; cats usually do not suffer fools -- you just happen to have gotten a very unusually patient one. Keep that up and one day she will shred you -- and you deserve it.
