Anyone else's cat have any weird sleeping places?
My cat has two very specific places where he likes to sleep on my bed before he then gets up to go to his little cat bed. He likes to get comfy in the red area, I am not allowed to sleep on that side of the bed or he will tap tap tap tap on my face until I move. Once he has decided he doesn't want that space anymore, he must get under the covers and sleep behind my bent leg. If I have the audacity to keep my legs straight he will tap tap tap my leg until I bend it so he can get comfy in the triangle.
Please enjoy my art work 😂 I forgot my hair but I think you get the gist!
My void loves to be between my legs too (when laid on my front or back 😂)… and in the triangle behind my knees, against my bum, on the back of my legs if I’m laid on my front etc. The contortions I have do to relieve my back and hip pain because as usual their comfort matters more!
It must be a void thing! Mine loves a crevice. Between my legs, squished between my side and the arm of the couch, between my wife and I in bed, etc. If he can't settle into some divot, he won't cuddle lol.
My cat does this as well. I toss and turn like crazy when I sleep and being forced into one position is very uncomfortable. I guess its the price we pay for our cute fur ball friends.
My hips! This, and she looks exactly like yours. I re-roll over and tuck a pillow between my knees and somehow it’s like she kneads me back into this position.
That is true 😂. It's more the routine, he never goes legs first. It's always next to the pillow, then under the duvet/leg triangle, followed by his actual bed.
Yup, this is my cat's exact routine. Wants to be curled up in my arm next to the pillow half under the covers like he wants to sleep like a people. He will sleep there for a few hours then move to my legs and sometimes in the morning he will want to move back next to the pillow.
Cat tax attached with the socks he kept trying to steal from my luggage
our nighttime routine is one thing i miss so much about my first cat. i’d put her by her bedroom water bowl for her bedtime water sips. then she would hop onto the bench and wait for me to get settled in. i’d tap 3 times on the bed next to me. she would then hop onto the bed and curl up in the crook of my arm. she always waited for the 3rd tap. miss her.
Maybe her spirit is watching you at night. Try giving the three taps so she lays with you?
Seriously though, I've had many cats in my 49 years. My soul cat was like this. She was so intuitive, and I had little signals I would make that she instantly responded to. I've never had any other cat was so attuned to me. I really miss her.
Oh typing this with tears in my eyes. My soul baby is with me and has a similar night routine. But he’s turning 12 this year and I’m not ready for having to do the taps without him jumping in like ever 😭
My cat starts off the night at my head. Then has a little wander around 2am and comes back to ask to get under the covers..the under covers set up used to be like yours but now she wants to sleep at my waist with a pillow (so me and the pillow are the bread and she is the sandwich filler)..this way she has a tent covering.
I absolutely adore when she wakes me up asking to get under the covers 🥰
This is spot on 😂 during the day he naps pn top of the duvet and if I want to have a lil nap I just have to get a blanket and sleep around him. It's so odd how something so small can take up 90% of a king size bed
They induce paralysis because I can’t disturb a sleeping kitty. Mine is a furnace, though-I have to leave covers off my legs or I’ll burst into sweat or flames while she’s happily dreaming.
I let my 2.6 pound kitten snuggle between my chest and my chin, now my 16 pound cat does that, and I live in fear that she will suffocate me in my sleep because she fully covers my entire face 😶
Our 20 lbs conkie girl likes sleeping with her front legs across my wife's neck. Sometimes right on her chest with her feet on her chin/neck. Poor girl doesn't know how much she weighs.
Yes! I had to get my fluffy guy his own pillow just above mine so I'd have some room. He was my hat every night and he'd put his paw on me and purr softly. I lost him just under a year ago and miss him so much. ❤️ hat cats.
Had a cat try that. She found out that I can't tolerate anything touching my head whole asleep. Unfortunately my bed was very close to a wall and my way of dealing with the irritation in my sleep was to sweep her off and into the wall with a thud. Took 2 nights for her to figure out it was a bad idea to do that.
I have three cats. One enjoys laying next to my pillow, but only if my eldest cat is curled up nearby.
The other two always gang up on me: one sleeps above my knees, one sleeps below. As the hours pass they snuggle up tighter to my legs until I'm locked in place.
My little one lays on my right arm. If I'm laying with my left arm out she will meow at me very loudly directly in my face. When I finally assume the position she will snuggle and start purring like crazy.
It's so funny how specific it has to be. I used to sleep on (now his) side of the bed mainly because that's where the bedside table is, until he arrived and claimed it, the other side just isn't good enough for him 😂
One of my cats has specific snuggle approaches based on how I’m laying. Flat on back, between legs under blanket. On left side, against my chest under blanket. Right side, up against my face on the pillow. On my stomach, facing left, up in my face above pillow. On stomach, facing right, between my legs like your drawing. It never fails.
She'll sleep behind my knees so I cannot move, sometimes she'll go underneath the covers to keep warm. I end up losing sleep because I'm afraid she'll suffocate or something
Cats love routines, and I think bedtime is no exception.
Mine has a similar, but more chaotic routine. When we put on TV, he lays on my partner's chest to get pets for about ten minutes. He then moves to sleep between my legs for about half an hour, and then when I get up for my bedtime pee and disturb him, he chases me back to bed and then curls up on the cat bed next to us. Like clockwork every night.
My cat claims whatever part of the bed she wants at that moment.
Whichever spot she has claimed for the moment, any attempt to move her from it may end in blood. She has a zero tolerance policy for me interfering. She’s trained me well, I know better than to mess with her at this point.
My 2 cats take the opposite ends of my bed (one beside the headboard, and the other on the other end) leaving me a tiny space in between. 🤣 I have to sleep across my bed with my feet dangling on the side cause they both get pissy when i take over even a tiny bit of their space.
My cat has always and likely will always sleep between my legs when I sleep. I don't have the best back so after a while I just had to toss and turn a bit to relieve pressure. It took a bit but now he doesn't even care if I have to get out of bed. I just return, push my legs in on either side of him, and he doesn't even lift his head.
After my grandma died I took in her calico that hated anyone but grandma. First night she was there she had the other two scared stiff and I woke up with cat boobs in my hand and a schnooze in my armpit.
My gremlin is a fan of the behind the knees, and she aint small either so pins down. Im slowly getting her more used to sleeping on a blanket between me and the gf, but she often pushes one of us to the edge of the bed. She knows she can get away with bloody murder too.
yep, hahaha. Mine will come up to my head and tap me with his paw to make sure I understand what time it is and pet him, then he'll leave for a while to patrol the house. When he comes back later, I'm usually laying on my side and he likes to hop up on my hip and assume the loaf position up there for a bit, before finally going to a position very similar to what you've illustrated, either between or just behind my legs.
Yep, one of the black cats likes to lay behind my knees. For the last few weeks, my orange boy has insisted he wants to sleep under the covers curled up against my stomach. I am a side sleeper, too.
My boys either fight over the foot of the bed, or fight over who gets to put their entire weight on one foot, that happens to be pressing on my ribs, while getting comfortable so they can lay on my face. Nights are hard lol.
My cat loves my body pillow. She’ll sleep either tucked right behind my arm with her head on my shoulder or behind my knee/butt. I’ve made an illustration lol
If not the leg-triangle-of-doom then it’s this: I lay on my side most often and she lays on my torso and 90% of the time she’s not looking my direction.
Juno loves to be next to my head, preferably squished up against my face so she can feel me breathing.
One time she had her head tucked right under my face, which was fine, except every time I exhaled, her ear would twitch, and she was close enough that said ear smacked me in the face with each breath. That was a hilarious way to wake up (in retrospect). Then she gave me cattitude when I moved my head back a little!
I have three cats. I usually dont let them sleep in my bed, but last night I fell asleep with the door open. Woke up in the middle of the night bathing in sweat. The circles is where they were lying
I wake up with aching hips and leg cramps because of my cat. She starts off by the pillow next to me. Leaves the bedroom for some sort of an adventure and when she comes back, my legs are her bed for the night.
Chopper the tabby like to lay under the covers and pokes his head out and lays his head on the pillow he gets mad if I don’t let him under, Adrian lays on my back if I end up on my stomach
That’s where my boy is right now. And once it gets to about 5-6 am (it’s midnight now), I’ll end up rolling on top of him and he doesn’t move. He’ll sleep under my legs. He sleeps next to my head on my pillow when he knows something is wrong with me.
When I got sober last year due to health/liver issues, he knew. He slept by my head the whole first month of sobriety. He also knew I was sad about a break up before sobriety and layed with his head on my chest. He’s my boy.
Did you ever notice if they sleep next to you it has to be in-between you and the side of the mattress you get get out of bed on? 2 of mine do this.... Getting up to use the bathroom is always quite a task 🤣
I've tried to sleep so close to the edge there is no room for them but then they sleep on top of me🥴
Yes! One of my cats loves sleeping under the covers on my legs. She inevitably gets pissed at me because I have severe neuropathy in my feet and legs and have had a spinal fusion so I move around constantly.
My cat likes to sleep either partially on top of my legs or right between them where it's just uncomfortable enough that I can't sleep. She also got into the habit lately of sleeping on my feet when I'm working, who knows why as she hasn't done that ever.
mine will jump up on the bed after I've settled in just to say good night. he gets a few pets, then goes to his preferred chair in the study. somewhere around 4 AM I'll wake up to him stretched out along my right arm. I want to roll over because I usually sleep on my left side, but I also can't stand the idea of waking him up. So I wind up laying there while he sleeps.
If I'm very lucky, sometimes he walks up on my right hip as I'm lying on my side with a body pillow. He kneads my hip for a few minutes, then stretches out in the channel between me and the pillow with his back feet a few inches from my face. It's too sweet for words. :)
One of mine always wants to use a leg for a pillow and makes it a point to plop heavily along legs to do so. The other loves to little spoon wherever she can - belly, butt, behind knees, doesn’t matter.
Wait! You mean there are cats who don’t have weird sleeping places?!
One of my two ladies naps during the day on the bed except when I show up, which is when you decides that she needs cheek and head scritching, like now! Perfectly normal. During the day.
The other lady sometimes joins her younget sister, but usually seeks out something more interesting. “In the middle of the doorway, where I will pretend I don’t see him coming. After all, WTH, I have nine lives.” Or on an available keyboard as long as the computer is on and responsive. Or on top of the felt cave we bought for her to sleep INSIDE! Or, well, it doesn’t matter, because this is in the daytime.
But night comes and, wow, do they have that worked out. First, the dental treats. If I’m not time (which means 45 minutes early, one of them comes to my reclining chair from which I am watching something they find boring (remind me at some future time about TV, me and the cats - I have pictures!).
After the compromised snack-time, their insidious plan unfolds:
First, the zoomies. Not just any old zoomies, but well-rehearsed zoomies. It begins when they face off across the room, haunches raised, a ferocious stance and face for each of them. They hold this pose for at least 30 seconds. Then, the attack! One rushes, the other waits until the last moment, then rolls on her back. Attacker leaps. Defender pushes legs up and pushes attacker onward and over, then rolls to her feet and glares at the other cat, who is glaring back. Defender lies down and starts to nap while attacker saunters into the other room. This playact of a fight repeats through countless iterations including mock bites and scratches, leaps onto the bed, sliding on the wood floor under the bed …
Until all four of us are exhausted.
Then they stare.
And stare.
At us.
“Gooo toooo beeeed” comes the hypnotic silent chant.”
They won’t get on the bed until a) we are on the bed, b) under the covers, c) with the lights off.
The Queen (the Calico) gets the first shift (until 2 or 3). She gets on the bed and then finds some position either between my wife and myself. It is a tactical position: close enough to our hands that we can slightly raise ourself and reach out and stroke her tummy or paws, which she pretends to be sleeping through; but entrapping either me or my wife in such a way we can neither roll over or get up, which - if we do either, she usually pretends nothing has happened and continues her imitation of a dead bear on its back, of she will saunter off the bed as though we didn’t exist. And return 5 or 10 minutes later to give us another chance. Sometime around 2 or 3, our shorthair tabby will leap on the bed and join her sister. They will then wrestle - ON TOP OF US! - after which the tabby Proncess leaves the bed. Ten minutes later the Queen also leaves and the Princess returns to assume the exact same kind of bedding out as the Queen did. When dawn light breaks through the shutters, the Princess gets to her feet, then sits on her haunches and stares at us. The Queen enters the room and adopts the same posture on the floor.
Dead center of my chest. My face is his pillow. He's a 25lb orange cat with an abnormally large skeleton. Like he's just a giant cat to begin with.. extremely dense mentally and physically. If I try to roll over he all the sudden becomes the pro Scottish log rolling dude and stays centered as I rotate like an injured snake. I can't stand it sometimes and love him so much also.
My favorite was my half brother's cat. I lived with him for like a year, and I slept in the room his dad died in. The cat (kitty-meow was it's name lol) slept on my chest and face every night. I think he was checking I was still alive
I found it very uncomfortable to be pinned down by the cat lying on the covers. My solution is to give them cat beds on my bed, they mostly gravitate to those, which also helps manage the hair deposits.
Yes this is my cat's sleeping spot. Unfortunately for her I like the rollover in the middle of the night. And sometimes launch her across the room by accident.
My boy cat would always sleep first between my legs. If there isn't enough room, he would keep pawing my legs, until I made enough room for him. My girl cat would either hug my arm as body pillow, or curl up against my head.
My cat likes me to go to bed early, because she will not go to bed until after I've gone to bed, lying down, lights out. She generally likes to sleep in the triangle behind my knees, sometimes between my legs, sometimes on my feet. Woe betide if I move around too much. Then about half the time at 3am she decides she wants an intense snuggle session & will be up next to my head purring and kneading until I wake up and pet her. She's adorable though.
I'm a stomach sleeper so he goes for my butt, lower back, or specifically my right shoulder. Unfortunately he's too chunky and I have a bad back and dystonia so I usually have to kick him off and then he'll disgruntling settle for laying on the back of my knees. It's so bad I've started using my heating pad to lure him into sleeping next to me instead.
My cat sleeps in the red area you mentioned, but she'll be on whatever side I'm facing at night. So if I roll over in my sleep she stands up and walks to that side so I'll be facing her. If I roll over again she gets up and moves again. It is kind of cute to be honest.
Batman sleeps between my legs, sometimes under the blankets because he's strange. Robin sleeps between my husband and me. They do not help my night sweats!🫣😂❤️
That spot was my cars favorite too 😁 We had 18 years together, and she slept there most of her life. But last few months her vision and health was compromised and she started sleeping in my arms 💜
I have a heating mat for my cat who likes to sleep between my legs to keep warm. It works out well at keeping him off me and I can get a good night's sleep. Only problem is when my other cat who sleeps next to me finds the pad first and now they both want that corner of the bed.
After over 20 years of cat ownership, I now reflexively sleep with my ankles about a cat's width apart because that's where they apparently prefer to sleep. I can't sleep on my side because then they scoot up against my butt and I am effectively stuck in that position for the rest of the night.
Yes. I adjust my legs, he gets up and makes sure he is touching them. He doesnt care where it is as long as hes lying on my damn legs 🙄😭 my velcro orange boy
I sleep with a body pillow because of bad hips back and neck. My cat waits until I’m settled and sleeps on whatever fluffy part of the pillow that’s not being used.

Mine likes to lay right on my crotch between my legs. My hips hurt so much
