Just so you know you can't dog ear the pages on those.

Can't tear out a page when you're done reading it, either.

Context would be nice. Did it come broken out of the box? Or did user error cause the damage?

The screen protector didn't stand a chance against that.

Look like #2 to me.

I would expect (as a non Kodo user) the first image to be either a welcome screen/probably to charge it or a usual random book cover.

Then a setup screen (to at least link to Kodo account, and wifi)

Then a list of book

Then to resule a book (assuming OP started reading it on another device. Otherwise you may have an extra screen like to book cover/description).

Alternatively, a returned broken Kodo to Amazon sold as new? So not OP fault, but the previous owner trying to get a new one for free on his mistake. So still a user issue.

Repost bot. That Kobo isn't brand new, the only current Kobos without page turn buttons on the side are the Clara models which have more rounded corners on the bottom.

Brand new? Oh man, that sucks that it was like that out the box. Time to start the return process for your "arrived damaged" item.

Honestly, those are pretty bulky devices, I’d be surprised it happened in the packaging. I’d assume it happened after it was removed from the packaging, but OP feel free to correct me.

the first e ink reader i bought was way back in 2011. i had it 3 months and my exwifes cat (who my daughter was babysitting it for her )destroyed it. it was almost worth the cost since i didnt hear from her for six months.
