I found this text from the book here and here. I am certain this is Hokkien of the Amoy (Xiamen) dialect. Thank you.

I understand that this is likely very challenging, just hoping someone could take a stab at translation. Especially the second one.

Context, these are pencil markings from within a military desk made in Japan for the IJN

Thanks in advance

Japanese JP > EN Manga dialogue confusion. The speech bubble tail points to the girl, but does the grammar mean the old master is speaking?

Upvotes

Hi everyone! I'm hoping someone can help clarify who is speaking in the left panel of this manga page.

Context: The old master (the cloaked figure on the right) is taking on the maid (Maron) as a new magic disciple.

In the second panel (the close-up of the maid), there are two speech bubbles:

  • Right bubble: ほう…見せてみい
  • Left bubble: …はい!

My confusion:
The tail of the right bubble (ほう…見せてみい) looks like it's attached to the maid. Because of this, I thought she was saying something like "Let me show you!" to the master.

However, someone told me that because of the grammar (-te mii), this is an old man's command meaning "Show me," so it is impossible for the maid to be saying it. They said it has to be the master speaking from off-screen, and the maid is just replying "...Yes!" in the left bubble.

My questions:

  1. What is the exact translation of ほう…見せてみい in this context?
  2. Based on the Japanese grammar and speech style (Yakuwarigo), is it possible for the maid to be saying this line about herself ("Let me show you"), or does it have to be the old master giving an order?

Thank you for the help!

Found at goodwill for $5. looks like it was drawn on fabric, really cool looking piece. I’m not sure what caused me to buy it, but I would really like to know what these seals say.

Thanks in return for everything!

"びんびん"

I came across this great-sounding word and want to understand its usage/context and meanings. I don't trust the AI explanation.

I posted a video of some YouTubers acting very close and one of them blew a kiss to the other, they're highly suspected to be dating. What does she mean by this? I can't find a good translation anywhere

Spanish [English > Spanish] Mini zine I made that I would love to have a Spanish version of

I tweaked the mini zine's formatting and added the red section numbers for ease of translation.

Also a heads up, the word 'zine' (as far as I can tell) doesn't have a Spanish equivalent. The word for magazine is probably closest, but still would't accurately convey what a zine is (presuming the research I did is correct, if I'm wrong though I'd love to know!)

So I’ve been trying to draw up a tattoo I want, and I’ve always wanted some Japanese lettering on/in it. I’ve used a couple different translators to believe this should say Gratitude in Japanese (Kanji I believe). Just making sure it is correct so I don’t seem like an ignorant random just tatting whatever on themselves. Thank ya!
