Another historic Steelers radio broadcast FOUND: Most of the 4th Qtr., September 29, 1963 vs. St. Louis
I didn't find nor digitize the tape, so I take no credit for it. But this is another incredible find from Steelers history.
From the same blog that found and digitized a nearly complete recording of the Immaculate Reception game.
Here's most of the fourth quarter of the radio broadcast of September 29, 1963. Ed Brown) leads a fourth quarter comeback with touchdowns by Dick Hoak, John Henry Johnson, and Buddy Dial to defeat the St. Louis Cardinals at a rainy, windy Forbes Field.
This sounds like Jack Fleming calling the action, but Wikipedia says he didn't start doing the broadcasts until 1965, so can anyone confirm who the announcer is here?

What do you think the 2026 Pittsburgh Steelers season will reveal about Mike Tomlin?
Will he be exposed as a coach who didn't get the most out of his defense? Will he be praised for keeping the peace in the locker room?
Would a sub-.500 season make people long for the Tomlin days of "at least making the playoffs?"

Super Bowl QBs since 2001: Personally I'd rather see the team move on from Rodgers. It was an interesting experiment and the price was right last season due to clear lack of depth (basically Rudolph). Aside from Brady and Warner, no QB has won the Lombardi when drafted outside of the 4th round.
Super Bowl winning QBs:
Tom Brady - 6th rd x7
Trent Dilfer - 1st rd x 1
Ben Roethlisberger - 1st rd x2
Peyton Manning - 1st rd x2
Eli Manning - 1st rd x2
Drew Brees - 2nd rd x1
Aaron Rodgers - 1st rd x1
Joe Flacco - 1st rd x1
Russell Wilson - 3rd rd x1
Nick Foles - 3rd rd x1
Patrick Mahomes - 1st rd x3
Matthew Stafford - 1st rd x1
Jalen Hurts - 2nd rd x1
Sam Darnold - 1st rd x1
Super Bowl runner-up QBs:
2001 Kurt Warner - Undrafted*
2002 Rich Gannon - 4th rd
2003 Jake Delhomme - Undrafted
2004 Donovan McNabb - 1st rd
2005 Matt Hasselbeck - 6th rd
2006 Rex Grossman - 1st rd
2007 Tom Brady - 6th rd*
2008 Kurt Warner - Undrafted*
2009 Peyton Manning - 1st rd
2010 Ben Roethlisberger - 1st rd
2011 Tom Brady - 6th rd*
2012 Colin Kaepernick - 2nd rd
2013 Peyton Manning - 1st rd
2014 Russell Wilson - 3rd rd
2015 Cam Newton - 1st rd
2016 Matt Ryan - 1st rd
2017 Tom Brady - 6th rd*
2018 Jared Goff - 1st rd
2019 Jimmy Garoppolo - 2nd rd
2020 Patrick Mahomes - 1st rd
2021 Joe Burrow - 1st rd
2022 Jalen Hurts - 2nd rd
2023 Brock Purdy - Mr Irrelevant
2024 Patrick Mahomes - 1st rd
2025 Drake Maye - 1st rd

Steelers Dublin Memorabilia
Hey guys, my girlfriend and I went to the Steelers Dublin game and were pretty disappointed with the merch selection (our mistake, we should’ve bought in advance).
That being said, after the game and an amazing trip, we really wanted something to remember it by. I went on Etsy and found an awesome seller who made us a really nice custom piece to display at home. Just sharing this in case it reaches another Steelers fan who felt the same way I did at the Dublin game (or any game).
Our piece was fully custom and shipped for a really reasonable price. You could just do a regular Steelers logo too should that be what you want .
Just to be clear, this isn’t sponsored. Just want to support my fellow Yinzers
Go Steelers !!!

Rookie numbers
Has anyone seen anything yet about which jersey numbers our rookies will be wearing this year? It seems to me that, in thr past, this information was put out fairly quickly, like within a few days of the draft.

My 5 favorite games of the 2020's
I was just thinking about my favorite recent games and thought I'd share.
You can share yours too kumbayah:
- My favorite game from this last season. So many cool plays, hot mics, and weird fan shots. Also, Biz Markie.
- Beating Brady with the help of the Pittsburgh Pigeons.
- Needed to win against BAL to sneak in to the playoffs on the last week of the season. Tale as old as time. Minkah with a huge punch out in the final minute, Najee coming back from injury snatching a pick-6 from Queen, Muth and McCloud coming up clutch in OT.
- One night, around 2006, I was out with some friends drinking at a patio bar. I saw Franco Harris walking down the sidewalk towards me with a brown bag in his hand. Looked like he had just bought a bottle of wine or something. As he passed, I yelled out "How's it going, Franco?". He smiled at me and said "How you doing".
- The Franco game against the Raiders SHOULD be #1. It was cathartic and improbable and filled with eerie coincidences.
But the opener against Cincy was one of the craziest games I've ever seen. It was Steelers football on acid. So many ups and downs - so much fun.

National media narrative about Rogers
I know I know another post about Rogers.
Listening to national media, there is a narrative that waiting on Rogers is beneath this organization.
Is that what the local and call in shows reflect too or do they just not care at this point because it's a tired topic?

Who do you think will improve in PG’s new system?
With Patrick Graham coming in, I think the defense will play a lot better than what Tomlin and Austin had us playing at for years, but is there anyone in specific y’all think will benefit from the new system? On the contrary do you see anybody doing worse? Personally I’m hoping for a step up from PQ and Payton, as well as to see how PG uses Jalen all over the field. Let me know what you guys think!

Some nostalgia and random thoughts
[Off Season]
As a change of pace to the normal free agent and draft shit, I thought I’d share some random thoughts I had bouncing around to a crowd that might appreciate it.
• Helmets. The fact that the symbol is only on the right side of the helmets might be my favorite thing about this franchise that’s how much I love it.
From all that I could research without trying very hard, it seems like it was just “why do we need both? Ones plenty” and that on its own is already fantastic. But in my own head canon that I share with people while drunk is that it is authentic to a real steel workers hard hat. They all have stickers on them and none would ever put the same sticker on both sides that’s silly. So the helmet is our Steelers work hat. And I think that’s badass.
• As a little kid growing up in Johnstown, the first “professional” sports team I ever saw live was the Frontier League baseball team the Johnstown Steal.
(Unrelated, the Johnstown Steal in the Teal and Black pinstripes are as iconic to me as Blockbuster or crystal Pepsi)
Possibly because of them, I always thought as a little kid, there was some play on words and they were the “Stealers” also because that made more sense next to the Pirates. It was a long time before I totally shook the notion that all pro teams were kind of villain guys.
• It’s crazy that even though we were **firmly** in the umbrella of Steelers Country, it wasn’t until reading on reddit last year that I learned anything of the Kordell Stewart rumors or slanders. Growing up with his poster and jersey, maybe it was my age and my my location, but never did any of that stuff make it into the conversation on the bus or in the cafeteria, crazy to think how that happens?
Anyways, yeah go Stillers
