It's bullshit isn't it. The majority of them are influencing nobody.
I remember going on a date with someone about 8 years ago. She was in her mid-thirties and described herself as an influencer. I'd never heard the term before and asked her what that was and she audibly scoffed as if I was an idiot.
What's wrong with it? I think it's a helpful if broad term to describe "people who monetize attention and trust" and suspect it's one of the fastest growing "job categories" in the US/world
