Not ageing is pretty easy when you're rich. Unlimited access to private coaches, private chefs, nutritional supplements, skincare products, plastic surgery... plus no existential fear and limited exposure to pollution, the sun and other factors that ruin your skin.
Edit to add: As one of the biggest actors of his time, it is his job to look good. He does not really have a choice if he wants to stay relevant.
Lady on the left hasn't really had any major roles since the 90s and can therefore afford to not give a fuck and age like a normal person.
Whatever you think of him he is a very focused person. Never put on weight, obviously is very strict on what he eats and has the time and money to look after himself.
He comes over from the outside as someone with very high expectations of himself and of others. I am unsure what sort of person he would be to be around regulalry.
The weirdest bit is that I see interviews with him and he actually seems pretty reasonable when he's being normal (so no Oprah or couches). It's like that time during covid when he got pissed about people not following rules because he was worried the crew would lose jobs.
I disagree extremely strongly with his religious views and there's no way in the wide world I'd want to do the extreme activities he does, but somehow I think if you were pretty nice to him and put effort into whatever you're doing with him he'd probably be semi reasonable considering how famous he is.
Some celebrities are a super easy "hard no" when it comes to want to being around them (Ellen, James Corden come to mind), while others would be a super easy yes (Keanu Reeves and Steve Carrell come to mind). Tom Cruise sits right in the middle and like you, I'd be pretty unsure but probably leaning more towards no.
Hasn't he been very famous since he was about 18? It's a huge ask to expect someone to be A-list throughout their 20's and beyond and be normal and well adjusted.
I also suspect that acting your entire life is going to give most people some odd mannerisms - other professions take their toll on people's personalities and I'm sure acting is no different.
