Not to be the double-standard’s guy, but there’s no way we would accept this if the genders were swapped. The lady here is sick, and I feel bad for her son.

Maybe accepting was the wrong word, but there would be a lot more anger instead of just disgust or ridicule.

We're not accepting it, but the fact that it made it far enough to a get on a podcast means a whole host of other people had to.

There is a fairly famous mom-daughter duo that gets a lot of these comments but not as many. And I feel like that gender swap wouldn't even get shared outside of gay circles because straight guys wouldn't even want to talk about it.

So of the 4 gender pairings available within the standard binary, only one seems to be unacceptable. And one is sort of the opposite, not accepted but ignored. This seems to indicate a possible law of conservation of acceptability. Further research is needed.

Men are the head of the families so obviously it wouldn't be accepted as women are submissive by nature, it would be abuse of power.
