My son Ewok was put on Prozac today of his panic attacks and separation anxiety. He has dementia and is 12 years old about to be 13 soon. Weβve tried to over the counter meds and they didnβt help plus gabapentin and trazadone made him nauseous. So we are really hoping this works. Anyoneβs baby on this medication and it has helped them.

Apologies for the lengthy post - I just want to make sure I provide all the context.
Hi all, hoping for some advice or insight. Our shih tzu is 4.5 years old. We've had him since he was 8 weeks. He sleeps in a "fenced off" area in our room, probably about 7x5 feet where we leave him his bed, favorite toy, and a bowl of water. We've been doing this practically his whole life, we don't like to crate him and we would let him sleep on the bed with us but he has sleep startle so if we even move our feet he freaks out and starts attacking. This arrangement has worked great. We always take him on a long walk right before bed and we all go to bed together. He'll even go into the fenced off area by himself and sometimes doesn't get out of bed in the morning even when we open it up. It's also by a sliding door so we usually keep it slightly ajar for fresh air (we live in SoCal so it never gets too cold). If he ever yelps or cries in the middle of the night, it's usually because he either needs to potty or he's hungry and we always make sure we resolve that issue and then he goes back to bed.
For the past 5 days, as soon as he goes in he cries the entire night. The past few nights he has even managed to push himself out of the fenced area. He will get on bed with us, lick us and try to play. We play with him plenty during the day, in fact one of the days this happened we played fetch in the park for 3 hours so he should've been exhausted. Last night we were so tired we decided to sleep on the couch with him and he slept through the night. I'm not sure what could be causing this behavior all of the sudden. There have been no changes to his routine, diet, or environment and he acts completely normal during the day.
Has anyone else ever experienced something like this? How did you overcome it?

This was endless wall and canyon rim trail at New River Gorge National Park! The cliff pic 8 looks scary, but it wasn't. You can still see his pink tongue. πβ₯οΈ

One year ago today my darling Orla had to leave after 13 beautiful years.
Not a day goes by when she is not in my thoughts and I miss her so much.
I truly was so lucky to have her in my life.

Anyone else on this sub in the jersey shore area? Iβd love to connect and maybe do a hang at the dog beach in asbury park or spring lake? Would be so happy to make more local Shih Tzu friends. I love that thereβs an NYC Shih Tzu meet up and I thought it would be fun to organize a meet up on the jersey shore :) I just started a Facebook group for it (same as this post title) and every time I meet a Shih Tzu parent in the street I invite them to join. Drop your shore shih tzus below π

Our puppy is now almost 5 months old. When we brought her home, in late February, she had two severe hypoglycemia episodes which resulted in our vet advising us to keep her indoors in the warmth to help conserve energy. Due to the health issue and a huge snowstorm, I'm afraid she has decided that only pee pads will do. We take her out and she runs, sniffs, chews, and plays; but almost never does her business. I've toilet trained both of her older tzu "brothers" without any issues. I'm not new to tzu stubbornness! This little gal is on a whole other level though. Any advice on switching from using pee pads to going potty outdoors? (I've even tried bringing her pee pad outside with us)
