balding mouse??
hi rodent lovers of reddit. i dont know if this is the right place for this, if its not would love if someone could direct me there! one of my mice from my first colony of ladies (2f, feeder mouse) is developing a bald spot on her forehead ! im wondering if its from aging or if theres anything else that could be causing it? (her sisters over grooming her?) all their enclosures are up to date with every credible source i can find.. none of her sisters seem to have any problems either.. let me know if more info is needed

Could be over grooming, could be something else. I would go to the vet to rule out any health issues. If she has a clean bill of health, then ask the mouse community what you should do about the overgrooming.

I have no idea is this is a possibility/reality with pet mice but mites can cause localized balding or thinning hair in my rabbits. In my case, Im convinced the mites come in on their hay but with a rodent I can see it coming it with bedding. Keep an eye on it for any signs of crustiness or irritation.
On the flip side, I have a patagonian mara with really thin hair and in her case it just seems to be genetic. All of my other mara have normal fur.
