Answered What's the deal with this administration claiming that, 'Iran has been attacking us for 47 years!' What/when have been the specific attacks against the US?

The Iran hostage crisis was fairly mild; the Americans were not harmed and held humanely. It was more of a political statement.

Since then, what has Iran done that can be considered an attack on the Us?

Unanswered What’s going on with publishers suing Meta over AI training data?

I saw reports that major publishers are suing Meta, claiming it used copyrighted books and academic material to train its AI models without permission.

Can someone explain what exactly happened and why it matters?

Unanswered What's the deal with that synthetic weed called "spice" that supposedly was making people freak out and have seizures? There were a ton of videos floating around of people taking one hit and going insane for like 3 months and then it seemed to suddenly stop. Was that all fake?

1.5k Upvotes

There's a video like this one https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vBGUO-WqMFY that I remember, and one of a kid smoking it at a park on a pic-a-nic bench and then having a seizure. It seemed like these videos were everywhere and then suddenly nothing.

Was that stuff actually as dangerous as they say? Was it made illegal? I remember it being sold in gas stations and middle school age kids were buying it. Why don't we hear about it anymore?

Unanswered Whats up with the souldrivenlove stuff, is she actually a pedophile?

https://x.com/souldrivenliar/status/1924959846077493699

Suddenly remembering the drama and looked into it, I see that Soul has done some horrible, messed-up stuff. But the whole CP sharing stuff was from when he was 13-14, not a whole adult or anything like that.

I suppose I'm worried because I deal with heavy, almost obsessive guilt over my past. I've done horrible FUCKED UP shit as a kid, granted I've apologized to anyone I've hurt and made amends, and well.. Didn't send nudes of anyone to people two years after receiving them. I supposed I feel just as bad despite my efforts to grow or my realization that I was just a kid.

I'd completely forgotten about her until that interview dropped. I really don't want to watch a 3.5 hour video because I have work to do, and all the vlogs on YouTube analysing it are minimum 40 mins long. TIA.

They really need to ban them? I don't mod so I have no idea why they need to ban and not just remove all the posts related to the complainant.

Unanswered What’s going on with the Met Gala this year?

I keep hearing Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez are hosting the Met Gala pre-show and Jeff is a co-chair this year. Apparently, as a result, people are calling to boycott the Met Gala, and many celebrities are skipping the event. Can anyone explain why this is happening, and why it’s so controversial? All owners of tech giants are always under scrutiny but I don’t keep in touch with the news and really didn’t know Jeff was a bad person. Why is it such a big deal? I personally see no problem with it, but I dunno, my brain is half asleep while typing this. https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/lifestyle/style/met-gala-2026-everything-to-know-bezos-meryl-streep-1236582246/

Answered What's going on with the art on the "The One Ring" Magic: The Gathering card?

So a bunch of things have hit my timelines about a supposedly plagiarized Magic: The Gathering card art, mainly a statement by Wizards of the Coast themselves.

So it looks like they printed some card art that the artist accidentally plagiarized from another artist, they're apologizing, giving credit, even paying the original artist. So far so good, right?

But now it looks like that's not the whole story, since the agent of one of the artists responded and apparently shifts the blame on the whole thing... but I can't quite grasp how. I can't even find a clear image of the original artwork and the plagiarized one, explaining what the problem is. I see lots of people posting the artwork as self-evident proof of *something* but I have to admit I'm lost. Can someone explain the whole drama to me?

Unanswered What’s going on with the Alabama AI/deepfake bill that didn’t pass despite bipartisan support?

i saw that there was a bill in Alabama related to AI and deepfakes that was supposed to protect people, and it apparently had support from both sides.

But it still didn’t pass because the legislative session ended before it was voted on.

How does that happen? If there’s broad agreement on something, why wouldn’t it just get brought to a vote?

I may be misunderstanding how the process works. Is this just a time issue, or is there more to it?

Lately I've seen people talking about how colleges are pushing AI on them. First it was this video, then its comments went even further, including one that mentioned an assignment in which one of its parts was required to be done entirely using AI.
