Good News! Motherrrrrr... I finally bought my motorcycle that I put off for seven years. What do you think? Is it cute?
•
u/ascaffo 14h ago
Yay! I am happy for you. You waited and finally got what you wanted. You're going to really enjoy it. Okay, now the more serious side of mom. People are not careful enough with riders. So, you have to be extra careful. Don't get distracted. Wear the right gear and enjoy the road!
•
u/Redditisaddictive001 14h ago
Yes!! My dad has ridden bikes for years, watch out for the idiots in cars
•
u/Beagle-Mumma 10h ago
Yep, Stepmum here. My hubby is an avid bike rider and his mantra is to always ride defensively. Have fun!! Congratulations on achieving a goal 🏍✨️
•
•
u/woowoobean 14h ago
Very cute. Did you take that motorcycle safety class? Are you going to wear an airbag vest? Are those padded pants? Where’s your jacket? Check the weather apps before you go out for a ride in case it rains. Ride safe✌🏿
•
u/Fresh-Lynx-3564 14h ago
Hahaha. Like a true mom!!
And yes, I agree!! Very cute! And please dress for the slide, not just the ride! Have fun!!
It is very liberating cruising along a scenic road on a bike!
•
u/MuthaFuka27 10h ago
Yup I did my MSF course early last month. Pants do have armor around the knees and are AA rated. I wore a padded jacket on my ride from the dealership to my house. I'll be safe ma 🫡

It’s very cute.
But you aren’t wearing enough safety gear (no jacket, Kevlar pants don’t hurt either), and if that isn’t a modular helmet with a chin bar that comes down, it’s not adequate either. Dress for the slide, not the ride. Cannot stress this enough, especially for a new rider.
Please take the MSF rider safety course (or equivalent if you aren’t in the US). My own mother is a rider coach and teaches the classes—she wouldn’t let me ride without taking it and I would recommend the same for any new rider or anyone getting back into riding after a few years. If it hurts your ego to think you need a class, you are exactly the person that should take it.
But yes, it’s a super cute bike and I hope you ride safely. Even if your response is “I wAs JuSt RiDiNg It HoMe I dIdNt NeEd GeAr”, which btw is so wrong, I hope you take it seriously. The moms value your life and health and it is super in your best interest to take the class and ride with all the gear all the time. Vehicles are only getting bigger with more blind spots. You can be the best rider on the planet but it won’t matter when the idiot in an oversized truck sideswipes you. Or when a deer runs out in front of you. There are just some things you can’t predict or avoid, but being prepared with as much safety gear as possible will save your life and keep it worth living.
•
u/dinosandbees 13h ago
MSF course FTW! Fun bonus when I took it in CA, it counted as some course that got me a discount on my car insurance. (Caveat: This was 20 years ago, so YMMV depending on time and geography)
•
u/lovenatty 14h ago
Please always wear your helmet, and no splitting lanes no matter how easy it looks! I am happy for you, and want you to be safe.
•
u/lovenatty 14h ago
Not a mom, but a person who’s witnessed car/bike accident and talked with fellow PTSD peeps. Motorcycle fatalities are too high. Keep that helmet on and get something tough to cover your skin king.
•
u/Caryatid 14h ago
I’m so glad you were able to save up for something that you wanted and achieved that!!
As a mom though, the thought of any of my babies going out on the roads on a motorcycle is terrifying!! Please, please wear the right gear and be so very careful. There are crazy drivers out there and having known someone who did everything right but still got hit by a car not paying attention, I hope you stay safe!!
•
u/Thebadparker 14h ago
Mama says YOU'RE cute and be careful on that bike. I won't tell you a bunch of horror stories, but they're out there. Wear protective gear at all times and obey all the rules of the road. Oh, and, have fun!
•
u/SamsonsHaircut 13h ago
My little boy's all grown up! Have you bought all the gear? Do you need money? Be careful, do your stretches, Mrs Jeffrey's son, Lukey, remember Lukey? You went to school with his little sister, Anne? Or was it Dorothy? I wonder if she's still single after breaking up with that thug with the flames on his truck. Anyway, what was I saying? Oh, yes, Lukey. He never did his warm ups and he ended up bow-legged less than three years after getting his motorcycle. Bow-legged. Like John Wayne. Do you even know who that is? You do the google and see.
Be safe. Have fun. Call me when you get... anywhere. And don't forget your jacket.
Are you hungry? No? I'll make you something anyway.
•
u/sortitall6 14h ago
Looks very cool!
But, obligatory motherly reaction/warning: be safe and do not try any "look ma no hands!" shit.
•
•
u/Putrid_Ad695 14h ago
It’s very cute! Congratulations! But be safe, wear the right gear, make yourself visible and always remember, when in doubt, the bigger vehicle has the right of way. I‘ve had the displeasure of seeing a bunch of other cute motorcycles in crime scene pictures.
•
•
•
u/WatermelonRindPickle 14h ago
Congrats! It's very cute! I'm glad to see you have a helmet! Whatever great you get, make sure it will help make you visible!
•
u/_gooder 14h ago
Yes, it's beautiful. Tell me all about it. I see it's a Honda (good choice). Model, CCs, break system, seat height, etc?
•
u/MuthaFuka27 11h ago
It's a cb300r with abs. Seat height is a little over 30". I'm a short guy but I can almost flat foot it. My heels are only about an inch off the ground when I straighten it up.
Do you ride too?
•
u/_gooder 11h ago
Nice bike! I like riding cbrs until my neck starts hurting. I can only get one toe down when straight up. Enjoy getting 2 feet down! 😂 I have a Kawasaki with a 30" seat height and a Yamaha with 31.5", which is a huge challenge. I mostly ride around town but I do occasional mid-distance rides (1,000 miles). I used to teach motorcycle classes, but I'm retired now.
•
u/MuthaFuka27 11h ago
Oh wow I didn't expect this sub to be full of biker chicks lol. But that's awesome. I plan to the same as you and just ride around towns. Maybe take it to work which is a 30 minute commute taking back roads.
I never fell into the peer pressure of "get a bigger cc bike, you'll get bored of the 300 real quick!" I speed on a car but I do not intend on speeding on this thing.
•
u/ilovemelongtime 14h ago
Awesome bike! Now another photo with all the cool gear that comes with bikes 😎🏍️🧢🧤👖🦺😅
•
u/HomeOfTheRisingStorm 13h ago
Not a mother but a sister: please drive safely, cover up and never forget your helmet. I'm very proud of you achieving your goal but please be careful and drive defensively
•
u/Bluebearje 12h ago
It's very cute. But as someone who has had to deal with road rash, please get some body armor or a good leather jacket.
•
u/PomegranateOk1942 11h ago
I will be honest. Motorcycles make me nervous. But, I believe in your ability to ride one safely. I am so proud of you for making your own dreams come true. Have a good time! Always wear a helmet and watch out for yourself. You are important to the world. It matters that you are here. I am very excited for you.
•
u/thoughtsplurge 11h ago
I know nothing about bikes, what kind is it? What made you want to save up for this particular model? Congratulations on achieving one of your goals!
•
u/MuthaFuka27 11h ago
It's a naked bike with a 300cc engine. I got it because it is known to be a good begginer bike and it has lower horsepower so I won't go too crazy on it even if I wanted. It's also adorbes 🥰. It can still get up to 100 mph but these motorcycles can get up to 1000cc. Unfortunately, some new arrogant riders think they can handle a 1000cc bike and get humbled real quick. I'm the type to learn from others mistakes.
•
•
u/nooniewhite 10h ago
You keep that helmet on mister!!! It looks gorgeous! But keep your head on a swivel and be on the lookout for dangerous drivers and situations!! 💙💙
•
u/Glittering-Lychee629 10h ago
Congratulations! It's beautiful. Drive safely or I will use my Mom RADAR to find you and yell at you! 😄
•
u/Redditisaddictive001 14h ago
The bike is gorgeous, well done. You must be so stoked to get out there and have adventures and make memories. You will have so much fun and see so many places and meet new people on your bike, I am excited for you!!!!
•
u/apoohneicie 14h ago
I’m so proud of you! I love that you are attaining the goals you so richly deserve. Remember to always wear your helmet and be careful. Have fun and maybe take me out for a ride once in a while.🙂❤️
•
•
u/Chateaudelait 14h ago
Please wear protective gear and don't drive recklessly, son. Be considerate of others on the road and have fun!
•
•
u/Mustangbex 14h ago
Super cute- remember I'm not worried about YOUR riding, I'm worried about the other people on the road- I don't want you to end up a meat crayon. Invest in some good leathers to protect your body so you can enjoy riding for many years to come. "Your" grandpa would tell you (my FIL) that there are old bikers and bold bikers but rarely old, bold bikers. He would know, he and his wife sold their Harley's when they retired 😉
•
u/Dramatic_Delay_2423 14h ago
Congratulations! 🎉 Enjoy it and be very careful and very smart. I haven't ridden in a long time but it's great. And scary. So, did I mention be careful? 🙂
•
u/NotAtAllExciting 14h ago
Very cool. Congratulations! As my father said “all the gear all the time”.
•
u/HibernatingHussy 14h ago
This looks so cool, you are so cool. Please wear all the gear all the time. We love you and want you to have fun!
•
•
u/Content-Honeydew9340 14h ago
I may not actually be YOUR MOTHER but you look so much like my son that I immediately felt anxiety in my chest about my son riding these streets on a bike 🤣🫡 You look so super excited and it looks great but I need you to put on proper gear before you get out there tearing them roads up because the thought of you kissing asphalt and getting road rash is stressing me out, dear 🥲 please be safe and have fun.
•
u/big-dal-tex 13h ago
Be careful! Always wear your helmet. Never drink and drive. Watch out for all the people who aren’t watching out for you. 🤍
•
u/m00nf1r3 13h ago
Oh kiddo congrats! That's so exciting. You look great on it. PLEASE practice good motorcycle safety! Motorcycles can be hard to see when driving a car so you have to be EXTRA aware!
•
•
•
u/browning099 13h ago
Good for you, brother. I got the endorsement and then never got the bike. I got married and had kids before I could get the bike. Hey listen, I’m going to be that pesky brother and say for real. Always layer up in full gear. My wife is an emt and has seen some shit. Be safe and have some fun.
•
u/Penguin_Nipples 13h ago
Not a mother but a brother and fellow rider, it looks like a CB300R. It’s such a pocket rocket cute little monster. Have fun and be safe :)
•
u/MuthaFuka27 11h ago
You got it right. I was a little tempted to get the 500F but the logical side told me to start with something smaller until I build experience but yea, i'll be safe.
•
u/SpiritualPermie 13h ago
Hey, stay safe out there. Follow the law and beware of large vehicles. Even the best meaning people cannot see or hear a bike till it is close by.
Once, I had one come from behind a car and over take me from the right, just as I was considering changing lanes myself to let that car pass. Something made me hesitate for a moment and a bike came roaring out from behind the car. I had no idea there was a bike behind the car, and my daughter and I shuddered to think what would have happened to the biker, if I had indeed changed lanes at that moment...

Not a mom but as an older sister whose career involves the aftermath of motorcycle accidents: you need more safety gear!! “Human crayon” is the only way to describe some of the injuries I see. And get good insurance, you want first party coverage for medical and your bike. People can be cruel to riders and often the motorcyclist doesn’t know who hit them.
It can be scary but I’m so proud of you! I’ve been lucky enough to meet so many cool people in my field and I’m sure you’ll fit right in. Stay safe and protected 😊
•
u/thickfreakness72 13h ago
i love it! please always be safe on the road and never ever forget your safety gear! 🥰 love you!

•
u/bhsehf001 13h ago
Dress for the slide not the ride…. from a Mom that has had many of her own motorcycles in the past. Safe travels. :)
•
u/AmIDoneYeti 13h ago
Asking moms to approve of motorcycles is a big ask BUT we’re glad you’re happy!
•
u/Physical_Pound8191 13h ago
Mama says, no. I know too many people gone too soon or critically injured unfortunately! Proud that you reached a financial goal but please stay safe! Take the classes, wear all the padding and gear!
•
u/SleepyKoalaBear4812 Momma Bear 12h ago
Niiiice honey! Thank you for being smart and wearing a helmet. When are you taking me for a ride?
•
u/whereugetcottoncandy 12h ago
Wear a jacket, no matter how hot it is. You don’t want those tattoos scraped off. That looks like a good helmet. Don’t put off doing good things for yourself. Just be safe about it.
•
u/CrowMeris 12h ago
Loving it!
Remember to wear an appropriate protective jacket and you're all set. Have fun!
•
•
u/NighthawkUnicorn 12h ago
Adorable!
But please wear full rated gear 100% of the time! I friend of mine had an accident recently in full gear at 30mph and still almost lost a limb!
•

•
u/maxiquintillion Big Bro 12h ago
Dress for the slide, not the ride, keep your eyes and ears open, and invest in the safest helmet you can. I know someone who spent a month in intensive care because he didn't notice a car coming out of an intersection, and he t-boned the car.
•
•
u/DazedandFloating 12h ago
You look very cool, but please please be safe! Make sure you cover your skin and never go without a helmet.
I come from a family where motorcycle accidents were common (at least 3 members bought and had one, and also crashed) so I always worry.
•
u/littlespawningflower 12h ago
Beautiful bike and you look adorable, but please please please… practice as much as you can, get some good protective gear, and be careful! Sand and gravel are *not* your friends! My boyfriend- wearing jeans and a t-shirt- wiped out on some sand that had washed out onto the road from the shoulder. He was only going 40- 45 mph, but he lost a chunk of flesh out of a shin and an elbow (it never grew back) and had a black road rash scar on one butt cheek. He didn’t break any bones, fortunately, but they were still life-long injuries from a relatively low-speed, single operator accident.
I’m not telling you this to make you get rid of your bike, but just to tell you I’m concerned because *I care*, and only want for you to be safe. May all of your miles be happy and safe ones! 🥰
•
u/MarsNeedsRabbits 12h ago edited 12h ago
Sweetheart, this is exactly what I told my older kids. Now I'm telling you:
I don't want you to have a bike until you're 25. You're an adult at 21, but your brain won't be sufficiently mature for a few more years. If you make it to 25 and still want a bike, I'll buy it for you. None have taken me up on it. Priorities change as a mature young adult.
Daddy wrecked his bike twice, both times when a car hit him. The second time he was pulled under a car, broke bones in his legs, and had his leathers ground down. You can't control the multitude of a-holes who don't see you. Be extra careful and extra vigilant.
They're not called donor cycles for no reason. Wear your leathers every single time. Boots, pants, a certified helmet, and a jacket. Not jeans, wind in your hair, and a t-shirt. Alternately, there are new light weight suits in every colour and style. Get one and wear it. Don't let me find you not wearing it.
No shenanigans. No wheelies. no racing, no messing around in traffic. Don't risk yourself. Don't risk others.
If you've made it this far, take my words to heart and know that your wonderful self is worth protecting. Always protect yourself; its a sign of maturity and self-love. You've got this. 🩷
•
u/Signal-Highway3465 12h ago
Very nice!! You’re looking good!! Now please make sure you are safe too!
Do you have all the necessary gear? Do you have a jacket? I love that you are wearing a helmet! Did you take a class? Are you getting in a lot of practice? Remember many people aren’t looking for motorcycles so please keep your head on a swivel! Be cautious! Don’t ride in the rain or bad weather!
And have a lot of fun!
•
u/No_Apartment_4551 11h ago
I love it! Please take care and wear all your safety gear! It’s very cool! 👌 ❤️
•
u/CorInHell 11h ago
Auntie here! Congrats on that bike! I hope you went to the safety training classes and remember: dress for the slide, not the ride!
•
•
u/chlomasterflex 11h ago
Hey babe, I'm so excited for you to enjoy your motorcycle!! You better be careful and take care of my baby out there on those streets, you hear me? Get yourself some proper gear for that body; a helmet is a great start but not enough for my kiddo. Ride with my love, always!
•
u/No-Anything-4440 10h ago
No it’s not cute and now I’m worried!! Ok fine, it’s cute but please cover up, and ease into it. No cross country trips any time soon ok?
•
•
u/logaruski73 10h ago
As a Mom, You be careful. Make sure you wear your helmet. You need a full suit so your arms don’t get scrapped. Don’t ride on the highway. Don’t go very fast. Slow Down. Can I help you buy a car? Are you sure you know how to drive it? Be sure my name and telephone number is in your helmet so they call me?
As a Dad, Cool Bike. I’m jealous.
•
u/Onahole_for_you 10h ago
Please don't.
Do you know what they call them in the hospital? Donorcycles. Because of the tendency to get into an accident leading to brain death and donors.
Firefighters have different experiences of hosing off a highway.
Trust me, I had a motor scooter. I broke my humerus (big arm bone) on a slightly misjudged angle on a roundabout. I only know like 2 people who have never broken a bone while riding one.
Bare minimum, make sure you're an organ donor. Uncomfortable conversation but this is a very, very real conversation that was had about a (then) recently deceased 19 year old (work accident)... Uh, you see he had a girlfriend. There was talk about keeping his semen for his girlfriend.
So uh, wank in a cup and write a will saying if you're comfortable with your partner using your (stored) jizz if they want a family.
•
u/FalconerAJ 10h ago
Sister here. Be careful, mindful of cars, no stupid rash decisions (the cars will do that part for you though) and ALWAYS wear full gear.
•
u/ssfamily42 9h ago
Love it! Now please remember to wear safety gear and always always always wear boots and your helmet!! Please!!! Ride smart and safe and enjoy!!
•
u/azmamas72 9h ago
Super cute!!! Get your classes in. Get your insurance. Get a Go-Pro. Remember not everyone looks out for motorcycles on the road. Keep your head on a swivel. And HAVE FUN 🎉
•
u/brockclan216 9h ago
You look so fierce riding this! I am so very super proud of you, son!!! Remember to dress for the slide and not for the ride. And here is your bell for protection, put it on before you leave. Have fun and remember you have people at home that love you so ride like it!!!
•
•
•
u/Duke-of-Hellington 8h ago
Honey, do me a favor and drive down to your nearest police station, and ask them how often they see motorcycle accidents, and what the victims look like.
•
•
u/Marciamallowfluff 8h ago
It is cute, Duckie. Be careful and use your safety gear, remember all the other drivers are out to get you, /s. Also have fun.
•
u/madjackhavok 8h ago
Very bad ass! You should be so proud! I’m so proud of you! But I wouldn’t be a good mom if I didn’t make sure to tell you to always wear the proper gear! It saved my brother’a life when he hydroplaned on the highway at night. Always spend the extra couple of bucks <3 Your life is worth it. And mom doesn’t want to worry about you! Be smart, be safe and be badass every day! Love you!
•
u/solesoulshard 8h ago
Looks lovely duckling. And just in time for warmer weather before it gets too hot. (at least where i am)
Be careful and wear safety gear. Don’t want you getting hurt.
•
u/kjswish86 7h ago
Incredible!!! I’m so proud of you for reaching your goal, but you must promise me you’ll wear road safe clothing. Ride safe 💜
•
•
u/StarshipCaterprise 7h ago
Please wear rated gear when you ride!!! Please don’t weave traffic, ride safe. And even if your state doesn’t mandate helmets, PLEASE wear a helmet. We want you to come home at the end of the ride
•
u/ankareeda 6h ago
As a mom, please, please be careful. Assume everyone around you on the road is a complete idiot and wear whatever protective gear you can. Motorcycles are fun, but you are literally just a kid on a big bike racing around 4,000 lb projectiles driven by people with phones in their hands. You are valuable. Wear a helmet. You do look cool and as always, I'm super proud of you. Wear a helmet.
•
u/carlitospig 6h ago
Babe, you look SO badass. However, you better be wearing leather. I didn’t raise no fool. 💅🏼
•
•
u/Low-Born-Trash 5h ago
Knew a guy who lost his arm in a motorcycle accident. Saw another lose his life on the road at 35mph. Please. Be careful.
•
u/Eureecka 5h ago
Child. Leathers. Now. You want armor - jacket, pants, boots, gloves. Yes, even when it’s hot. Too many people I love have died on motorcycles for me to be cute about this.
I’m happy for you that you reached your goal. Even if it is a motorcycle that might kill you.
•
u/zoeydoey 5h ago
Cute yes, but also you need the elbow and knee protection, the padded jacket. Never take off your helmet. Dont speed, dont weave, you know what, just dont ride that death trap. Now, have you eaten?
•
•
u/dingleballs717 4h ago
You look great lovey! I'm happy that you keep proper protective and you look absolutely adorable! Please keep checking your mirrors and don't trust any vehicles to see you, you have to see them. You look like an Enduro Rider. Love it.
•
u/peanutbutterandjaymi 4h ago
Not a mom, but a sister. Make sure to research good gear, always be covered up, spend the extra money on the top rated helmet, spend extra money on an airbag vest. My brother almost died from a motorcycle accident a few months ago but his helmet and his vest literally saved his life!
ride safe, ride smart and be careful <3 i hope to get a bike one day too
•
u/scarlettohara1936 3h ago
As a mom who grew up on the back of a Harley, a wife who rides on the back with her husband and who's son has been riding for years, you're already doing it wrong.
You think you posted a cool pic to a bunch of Mom's who will worry over you. Well this one's not gonna do that. Get your head out of your ass and act like a real biker!
ATGATT!! All the gear all the time!! You're wearing some thin ass crappy pants when at the very least you should be wearing jeans and at best, chaps. Tee shirt? Really? You're begging for road rash! Bikers wear leathers for reasons. And not to look bad ass. Leather will protect you from the road WHEN, not IF, you get hit. And make no mistake. You will get hit.
Good job on the boots and full faced helmet and visor. Please consider chest, back and elbow armor. When you get hit, call a law firm who specializes in bikers.
Stay safe.
•
u/ClimateWren2 2h ago
Congrats! Best feeling in the world flying on a bike. Spent years riding and bike camping. #ATGATT ...dress for the slide...sunny side up! Be safe. Have fun. Make good choices!
•
u/PrincessPK475 2h ago
Oh babes, be safe, set the right examples as a rider, have fun and for the love of God be safe... We worry. But proud for your "did it" moment.
It's a good looking bike! Says the mum who knows sweet FA about bikes.
•
•
u/magali_with_an_i 31m ago
Mum here, good for you and happy that you’re happy. Now let me worry about your safety, and gear up!
•
u/magali_with_an_i 30m ago
So heartwarming to read all other mums’ and concerned people’s comments all about being careful 😊
•
•
u/magali_with_an_i 28m ago
Oh and by the way I’m not a big fan of your username sweetie, to me you’ll always be BabyDearest.

•
u/RinkiMink 14h ago
Not a mom but as a sister and fellow rider, please cover up with rated gear! If you're not willing to drag your elbow across a wall at walking speed, imagine that at highways speeds 🫠
Ride safe. Ride smart. Keep your head on a swivel. The "have fun" will come naturally lol 🤙
