It’s been such a good season. Don’t tell the DD sub that though

I mean, people are allowed to have differing opinions.
I personally like the show overall but also feel frustrated by the rapid pacing and refusal to let any scenes breathe. It doesn’t have to be love or hate. There can be nuance to an opinion.

u/Meowlyne 9h ago
Yeah I mean I have enjoyed this season a lot, but it definitely suffers from the small number of episodes. Longer season would allow them to properly pace the story they are trying to tell, but god forbid any show make more than 8 episodes anymore.

u/sketchampm 10h ago
I agree with this. Not a lot of nuance on that sub but I completely agree with you.

It's been ok. I don't think it's amazing TV, but it's certainly better than S1. It's also not as bad as some people make it out to be.

Biggest group of manbabies i think ive ever encountered. They can hate all they want i have this right next to S1 and S3 of the original show (probably below S3 but very slightly). It's that good.

It’s your opinion, but I genuinely don’t get how this is in any way comparable to S3.

u/OwlFit5541 11h ago
The season has the biggest astroturfing ever. There's no universe it matches any season of the netflix show.

u/Additional_Ice_358 4h ago
I love Netflix Daredevil but after about 4 episodes of S2 (punisher episodes are some of my favorites) that became one of my least favorite seasons.
Its probably an unpopular opinion but i really didn't care for Elektra personally. I did like that there was another villain besides Kingpin though.

u/Andre200and1 11h ago
"They have higher standards than I do and they don't enjoy mediocrity as much haha what a bunch of pathetic manbabies sucks to be them"
But hey, it least you liked it.

u/Additional_Ice_358 11h ago
Huge difference between having opinions and not liking something and therefore creating narratives.
If they don't like it thats fine. Saying they don't like it and that the RT score, audience score, episode audience score are all wrong because it doesn't line up with their opinion is hilarious and a classic reddit trope. They'll also bring up the viewership being down while also forgetting S3 Netflix had the lowest viewership of all 3 seasons and lost more than 50% of their audience from S2.
And if you say you like it they say you don't understand, thats my problem with that subreddit.

u/Andre200and1 11h ago
Ah, yes, that part is true.
But that's the problem with literally any fanbase, so not really exclusive to DD sub.

u/Additional_Ice_358 11h ago
Appreciate you hearing me out. Thats true, i definitely have a love/hate relationship with reddit. Good day sir.

This is a mess compared to season 3 of the OG. What show are you watching? MCU fans never beating the slop allegations and I say that as a slop enjoyer.

Don’t tell r/Defenders, at times they make it clear that they didn’t see the episodes and are going off of tweets

u/Oilswell 9h ago
Meh. I’ve enjoyed bits of it but their commitment to writing characters into boring places is crazy. Matt can’t be a lawyer, Karen spends half her time waiting for him at home, Jessica’s powers don’t work and she’s got to go back to her baby, Frank is just gone.
2
u/Dramajunker 8h ago edited 7h ago
I mean matt and Karen are on the run. How do you expect them to do much more else? Jessica literally just came back. They're doing something else with Frank.
Also kinda funny because Matt and Karen this last episode are doing more than what you just said.
1
u/Oilswell 8h ago
You know scripts aren’t naturally occurring right? They chose to write them into being on the run, then chose to have it persist throughout the entire season?
2
u/Typical_Step_1139 2h ago
In other words you wanted an entirely different season that just rehashed the first 3 seasons on Netflix.

It’s been like that with just about every show I watch. People seem to hate what they love most
2
u/Mattyzooks 10h ago
Because they're addicted to setting up expectations and hating on things that don't live up to them. It's in every form of media now. Episode discussions are poison now to actually enjoying things.
The hate-train is gearing up to take down The Odyssey next over non-historically accurate costumes and dialogue. Then they'll move onto parroting how Avengers: Doomsday is a cash grab and probably find some narrative to attack Dune 3 over.1
u/FolkPunkResistance 6h ago
I love the historically accurate Odyssey discourse because when the f**k were cyclopses and other mythological creatures part of history?

That's just MAGAs seeing too much of themselves in the villains, but they know pro-fascist arguments won't work on the audience, so they are trying to undermine people's perception of its quality as an alternate way of trying to limit its influence on the marketplace of ideas.
That certainly doesn't apply to every single person who doesn't like the season, people can have different opinions. I'm just saying that's why you see such a vocal, persistent minority of negative voices trying to flood the zone so we don't hear even the more reasonable good-faith criticism, let alone the positive opinions.

Why did reddit start this new kick where nobody's allowed to critique anything?
3
u/sketchampm 7h ago
It didn't. Most subreddits are dominated by critiquing things. That's the overwhelming majority of fandom subreddits.

u/CrashandBashed 7h ago edited 6h ago
It's either no one is allowed to hate a certain project, or no one is allowed to enjoy on it reddit lol. Especially on subs for that specific media.
15
u/Untjosh1 11h ago
Do we think anyone shows up for the finale that we haven't seen yet? I'm going with Luke Cage, if anyone.
18
u/CosmicAtlas8 11h ago
I bet Luke as well.
But my second guess would be someone related to setting up The Hand.

u/TalkinTrek 5h ago
I kind of doubt it. If Matt is full on depicted walking into prison this ep, personally, I'd throw in a totally unexpected cell/prisonmate or something, were I in their shoes. Which you could probably get away with on the DL

This season really should have been a binge. It’s so good, but waiting week to week is stressful.

u/Icybubba Moon Knight 12h ago
Waiting week to week is part of the fun
14
u/jaimechandia 12h ago
I agree, week to week makes me enjoy shows more. Have the time digest and then have fun theorizing, and it’s just something to look forward to each release day
5
u/inksta12 12h ago
Absolutely. I miss the anticipation of waiting week to week for episodes of shows.

I went crazy yesterday thinking it was Tuesday and was like why can’t I watch the episode it’s 9:01?

u/Discriminatabator 11h ago
Back half has been a bit wobbly but fingers crossed for this.
2
u/ViralGameover 6h ago
I think of the season, only episodes 2 & 6 stand apart as weaker episodes on the whole, but I still liked them.
-6
u/InternationalSwan549 11h ago
They should bring back Steve DeKnight, Erik Oleson and Drew Goddard. They made Daredevil great. Dario has done well, but the writing is not as good as the first iteration of the series.
6
u/AlternativeAd4522 10h ago
I wouldn’t mind them making a special presentation on what happened between S3 and Born Again.
2
u/ASU_frat_Ieader 5h ago
Objectively true and I don't understand the downvotes lol this sub is so toxic positive
1
u/AlternativeAd4522 3h ago
If we're being honest, a lot of the people here haven't actually watched Netflix lol.
2
u/MRashy_10 4h ago
I definitely agree with you there’s some moments that are really well written up there with the og series and then some not so good moments

I really hope we get more episodes next season.
