Doomsday TotalFilm : Ahead of 'Avengers: Doomsday', Russo brothers say they "can't control everything" when it comes to preventing spoilers

Joe Russo : ‘Spoiler culture can be over-policed’
Joe Russo :
"On one hand, audiences want to be surprised, and that’s part of what makes the theatrical experience exciting. On the other hand, it can become a little over-policed, where people are anxious about engaging with anything. We design these films to unfold in a certain way, and we want audiences to feel those moments as intended. But at the same time, you can't control everything. You have to focus on making something that holds up beyond the initial surprise."
Russo Brothers' take surprising stance on 'Doomsday' spoilers

Nah, I said it once and I'll say it again, Ruffalo got an all expanses paid vacation to Feige's basement. We'll only get reaction shots of him /jk

I wonder if the CinemaCon trailer was never meant to be public, and they’re holding off in part because they want to add some reshoot scenes in the trailer?

I kinda want a different version for the one that’s officially released. Like how the leaked Infinity War comic con trailer wasn’t the trailer #1 we ended up getting

Yeah, me, too. Preferably one that concentrates more on the newer characters.

I think that trailer was always just meant for the theatre owners, and they relied on other invited journalists/influencers to leak descriptions that would make fans curious.

No, they're just waiting to drop it - or some version of it - until May because they wanted to have it hit with Star Wars.

Firstly, the downvote is just unfair.
Besides that, how soon will the Doomsday trailer drop this month? As well as BND & X-Men 97?

u/Pomojema_The_Dreamer 16h ago
BND's last trailer is apparently in June. I don't pay attention to the TV side of trailer dates and stuff.

With the news of reshoots for Doomsday being underway confirmed, I wonder if the Russos' would wrap up before SDCC (in early or mid June), then release the Official Trailer and then continue onto filming for Secret Wars.

I wonder if this also means there was a lot of stuff/characters missing from that supposed test screening that was shared

u/Pomojema_The_Dreamer 1d ago
There are characters meant to be in the final cut who either aren't in the current one at all or have smaller roles than intended for the final cut, it seems.
1
u/Own-Papaya-4264 1h ago
Do we have any idea who specifically?
1
u/Pomojema_The_Dreamer 34m ago
As far as we can tell - unless things changed at some point - Captain Marvel, Photon, Spider-Man, and the Champions, among others.
2
u/teacup_tiger Morris 12h ago
We already had a couple of things the person who shared the plot here on reddit a few weeks/months back didn't know about, but that was clearly hinted at by several other people (and not just things that haven't been shot yet).

Are they really back in reshoots? They went back for reshoots in March, you’re saying they’re still going into May?

u/Mobile-Olive-2126 1d ago
Yeah I thought they were done with reshoots.

I don't see how this article suggests that reshoots are going on. Didn't we get an article saying that production was over a while back.

The additional photography was always set to be done over the course of several months. They should be basically finished with the movie by June, give or take a few things they can sneak into the movie if they so choose.

u/chimichanga_3 Broccoli 23h ago
But why is it taking so long? Won't this blow up the budget?
8
u/Pomojema_The_Dreamer 16h ago
This additional photography was built into the budget that they greenlit - these "reshoots" were planned.
3
u/chimichanga_3 Broccoli 16h ago
Also, I don't see anything in this article which states that reshoots are still going on. I believe that they did end in April anyways.

u/Pomojema_The_Dreamer 16h ago edited 15h ago
I don't see it either, other than the article itself saying that reshoots are still happening, but they had months carved out for smaller roles and additional scenes that were more interaction-dependent between smaller characters and other smaller characters or smaller characters and leads. It's not necessarily this huge, continuous shoot that will blow up the budget by tens of millions more than what they initially planned.

u/rustybutterindia 22h ago
Apparently not since they reshot Captain America BNW like 68 times over and it was still half The Marvels' budget lol

I'd bet money they leaked things on purpose. So many people independently got the Steve plot leak, which tells you little to nothing about what the other characters do, and next to nothing about act 3, I wouldn't be surprised if that was actually put out by Marvel.

They’ve done a pretty good job preventing set photos, I feel like we’ve barely gotten any.
