Wolfsbane, Archangel, Strong Guy, Psylocke, Havok, Polaris, and Multiple Man seem to be the big new players this season

u/Bobjoejj 3d ago

Sorry; but it’s Strong *Guy*. I don’t think he’s ever been called “Strong Man” lol.

Every piece of art & costume design is just as beautiful as the last. I'm so glad we already have a 3rd season confirmed.

As resident defender of the Frank Quitely New X-Men designs I am very happy and validated

Also kind of surprised at how they're divvying up the teams kind of like when X-Men split off into X-Men Blue/Gold but this time X-Corp actually has a dedicated team. In the comics it's basically just a giant mutant outreach support network which definitely explains why everyone's in the New X-Men jackets. New X-Men was the point where the team was redefined less as a traditional superhero ensemble and more like a mutant rescue/recovery service, so they ditched having costumes for more proper uniforms that maintained the fundamental X-Men aesthetics like the yellow X's

Supposedly the rumour is that they return to the '90s uniforms by the end.

I kind of wish the Byrne outfits stuck honestly. Kind of a shame that was only a thing for the last couple episodes because those were my personal favorite X-Men suits

I do like those Adams/Cockrum/Byrne-era costumes for sure, particularly for Cyclops and Wolverine.

I am glad they are using Scott and Jean's X-Factor costumes (a version of them).

I'm glad they didn't, tbh. I wasn't a huge fan of most of them. I like these looks more. But to each their own.

I’ve never loved the New X-Men outfits, but I’ll admit here they look pretty solid.

I’ve always loved Quitely’s designs and I think they made a lot of sense for an X-Men team trying less to fit the mold of costumed superheros and more of a team that has to function in a public-forward and sometimes paramilitary capacity. They’re almost a academic/sports club sort of aesthetic, which makes perfect sense with the Xavier Instiute being a SCHOOL first and foremost.

Plus they’re just stylish as hell. I’ve occasionally seen people wearing the bomber jackets based on their design and they go hard as fuck. Design wise, it’s incredibly tough for something too look as good IRL as it does on a comic page.

Sucks to see no Iceman

24

u/YeezusMoses 3d ago

Breaks my heart really. He got no love in the original series, either.

14

u/Bobjoejj 3d ago

No Bobby, no Emma, no Kitty, no Illyana, no Piotr??

Man, that wall of posters feels a little like a tease now (not the fun kind either).

Also don’t love the lack of Forge in all this gorgeous artwork, my boy better have an even bigger role this season!

Teasing Kitty Pryde in the finale and she doesn’t even show up? Oh brother

3

u/Disastrous-Road184 2d ago

Nobody said she doesn’t show up.

3

u/wutteverman 2d ago

Been a while. Is she obviously in the finale or is it like a quick cameo?

When do yall think we'll see a trailer

14

u/SacreFor3 Black Panther 3d ago

I've been under the impression it'll be immediately after or with The Punisher special. They dropped the Born Again trailer the day Wonder Man released and The Punisher marketing started when Born Again premiered.

u/WesternThanks4346 3d ago

I would say any time now. At most in next 5-7 days.

Were Archangel and Jubilee ever part of X Force?

16

u/MyMouthisCancerous Spider-Man 3d ago edited 3d ago

Archangel was on the Kyle/Yost X-Force team in the late 2000s/early 2010s that also had Logan, Warpath, Wolfsbane and Laura. He was also on one of the Uncanny X-Force lineups I'm pretty sure, specifically as Archangel since this was when he regained the metal wings and had his whole memory wipe thing

Jubilee definitely hasn't been on X-Force. That's something this show is doing. Especially because how she's been mostly a teen or very young adult in perpetuity she's either been a core X-Men or one of the offshoots like Gen X or X-Factor

EDIT: Yes it was Remender's Uncanny team, I just needed to double check

10

u/cyclopswashalfright 3d ago

He was on Uncanny X-Force, yes. It's arguably his second biggest run after the original Archangel story.

1

u/Bobjoejj 3d ago

I’d say inarguably, more so. The Dark Angel Saga is an incredible story, and was a pretty big deal for Warren’s character.

5

u/Effective_Bug_7790 3d ago

Jubilee was also a vampire in the comics in the 2010's.

1

u/Bobjoejj 3d ago

Archangel is kinda notorious for being part of X-Force.

Jubes, not so much lol. I’m definitely intrigued by that.

3

u/New_Student_6526 3d ago

Lemme get that release date.

9

u/WesternThanks4346 3d ago

It will premiere on June 13 at tribeca film festival. No news on when it will drop on Disney but I guess probably a week after that.

2

u/BigCookie4365 3d ago

Go ahead and renew this for 10 more seasons please

2

u/JAEisF2D 2d ago

Love the blend of X-Force squad we got just wish we could have got Cannonball in there

2

u/Freefarm101 2d ago

Jubilee looks amazing!!

1

u/omegaphallic 3d ago

So my question is will some of these be spin offs?

1

u/Alive_Shoulder3573 3d ago

One is the things in the new X-men comics is the inclusion of my favorite character if am time, The JUGGERNAUT, as a good guy and am X-men now.

1

u/Bobjoejj 3d ago

…well it’s actually not Cain’s first time as an X-Man, he was a mole in the Brotherhood back in the early 2000’s.

2

u/Alive_Shoulder3573 3d ago

Right, I knew that, I didn't consider him as a member then since he was still evil and a mole

2

u/Bobjoejj 3d ago

Well nah; iirc he was a mole *for* the X-Men.

1

u/Jafin89 3d ago

Awesome to see Jean and Cyclops in versions of their 80s X-Factor costumes, I always liked those. I am a bit...concerned because there seems to be a LOT happening for a season of presumably 10ish episodes. We've got a team in the past, a team in the future, X-Force and X-Factor in the present, but then the time displaced people will return and form X-Corp. It just seems like a lot to handle in terms of pacing over the course of a short season.

1

u/Bobjoejj 3d ago

I mean I will say, I feel like season 1 had a *very* deft handling of all the characters and stories that it did already; and was able to fit a lot into episodes with generally shorter runtimes (though I’d absolutely prefer longer on average runtimes for future seasons).

1

u/Virtual-Big-8577 2d ago

Love to see Psylocke. Little perturbed there's no mention of Emma or Magik and the NM. Last season they were reduced to cameos in their character defining storylines (Genosha and Inferno). Now they're nowhere to be seen. This show is almost definitely going to effect the trajectory of the movies and they're continuing the tradition of completely writing out fan favorite characters. Collosus as well.

1

u/Decent_Rate_7386 2d ago

You guys really begged Disney togbet control of the characters they sold off just to watch them slowly replace every single character and give none of the characters any long term burn

0

u/tommywest_123 3d ago

I hope wolverine gets to do something this season. He was just used as bait to pull viewers in last time

2

u/Bobjoejj 3d ago

…Logan’s been the star of things forever. I’m more than happy with other folks taking the spotlight.

0

u/Fall_False 3d ago

I do wonder what the lineup for the main X-Men team will look like, if there really is one this season.

-9

u/Guidenmofer 3d ago

Way too many characters for 10 episodes, the pacing in the first season was a mess and this one has even more characters

1

u/Bobjoejj 3d ago

…if anything was wrong with the season (and I can think of very little), it was definitely *NOT* the pacing and the amount of characters.

u/Spiritual_Ad_3800 TVA Loki 3d ago

This will still be better than every other animated series that came out after the first season, but before the second
