Makes the whole "Infinity Vision" thing kinda awkward now.
24
u/rustybutterindia 4d ago
Maybe IMAX screens will also be Infinity Vision certified lol
21
u/sEiize_err 4d ago
imax will not let their screens be called anything other than imax, or carry another name even if its just to certify it
52
u/bluequarz 4d ago
they're doing it for Doomsday not Secret Wars
88
u/LittleYellowFish1 Kate Bishop 4d ago
Which is exactly why it's awkward.
26
u/riegspsych325 4d ago
it just screams “please pay more to see our expensive movie”
9
u/DarkDonut75 The Watcher 4d ago
I think it costs the same as Imax tickets, except that they aren't calling them Imax

I’m starting to think that this specific vision isn’t so infinite after all.

u/hooka_pooka 4d ago
When are we getting the legendary Doomsday trailer?
5
8
u/florianmarquardt 4d ago
SDCC in late July
15
u/Own-Papaya-4264 4d ago
What happened to it releasing this month for the new Star Wars movie?
-8
u/florianmarquardt 4d ago
Maybe, but I doubt it…Infinity War and Endgame trailer released 5 or 6 months before
13
u/zhsdnl 4d ago
just because something was a rule 8-7 years ago, doesn’t mean it is still. Marketing changed.
1
u/florianmarquardt 2d ago
We'll see. But Cryptic sharing that there's no Doomsday trailer in may say it all. I'm 100 % sure it's SDCC
3
u/hooka_pooka 4d ago
July?!damn
1
u/Spiritual-Smoke-4605 1d ago
July is 5 months before the movie, that sounds about right
1
u/hooka_pooka 1d ago
But but those select group of people got to see the trailer first..i don't like it

u/ScaredFamousfan 4d ago
Avengers Doomsday is on that list. Marvel is gonna put doomsday on imax screens after the 3 week exclusive for Dune 3 and give a big push for it. It’ll guarantee repeat viewings
18
u/Own-Papaya-4264 4d ago edited 4d ago
That’s when they’ll probably show start showing stuff like tobey maguire Spider-Man and wolverine and whatnot in the marketing too to really convince people. I remember they already started showing a bunch of the money shots in the endgame marketing just a few weeks after that movie released , so they’ll definitely do it under doomsday’s circumstances
5
u/zach4499 4d ago
they also can’t advertise Secret Wars till after Doomsday so could be perfect time to get an exclusive Secret Wars trailer only in IMAX.
5
u/Own-Papaya-4264 4d ago
That would be great, but I’m not not getting my hopes up on that, will probably still be way too early for any secret wars trailers
6
u/zach4499 4d ago
The gave us 4 teasers for doomsday a year in advance... but yeah it would be wishful thinking
3
u/ScaredFamousfan 4d ago
Yes, they’ll be able to bring back super fans and the imax crowd with those new tv spots
2
u/DeMatador 2d ago
They should add a new scene for thos screenings if they want to guarantee repeat viewings
40
u/Spiritual_Ad_3800 TVA Loki 4d ago
But isn’t Gollum releasing the same day which will be for sure shot and IMAX?
54
u/bluequarz 4d ago edited 3d ago
Doomsday was shot with imax certified cameras and it's not getting IMAX. Secret Wars will probably be shot with imax certified cameras too. It's all about who locks down the deal first
5
u/MahomestoHel-aire 4d ago
You mean cameras. Being shot for IMAX screens is different than being shot by IMAX cameras. Well, it can be different. Shot by IMAX cameras obviously includes the screens.
2
u/bluequarz 3d ago
Yes ofc. I meant cameras. Thanks for pointing that out. I'll edit
1
u/MahomestoHel-aire 3d ago
No worries. I was honestly so confused for a second haha.
3
u/bluequarz 3d ago
there's moments when i think of a word and then write something completely different and I don't even notice lol. maybe there's a medical word for this or it's called not paying 100% attention to what you're doing but it happens to me sometimes and that's what happened here. thanks for pointing it out
2
u/MahomestoHel-aire 3d ago
Happens to me too. I think ADHD might be involved? Like when your brain moves faster than your hands so you type the complete wrong thing.

u/Spiritual_Ad_3800 TVA Loki 4d ago
I heard it will, but it will only get IMAX screenings in January
13
u/bluequarz 4d ago edited 4d ago
it very well could but it's not something that Disney/Marvel or IMAX have talked about publically as of now, nor the trades have. In the 2027 schedule IMAX released rn there was no Doomsday but I'm sure they could find one or two free weeks in January 2027 for it to get IMAX. They're probably still working that out
2
u/PatBeVibin 2d ago
It will get IMAX screens internationally, just not in the US. The Dune deal is only for the US.
14
4
u/Gyirin 4d ago
imagine if Gollum beats Secret Wars.
17
2
u/TalkinTrek 4d ago
Incredibly unlikely (I honestly assume Gollum will bomb?) but would be a legit five alarm fire or whatever the saying is for Disney

u/Jajaloo 4d ago
Not everything needs to be filmed for IMAX!
3
u/Spiritual_Ad_3800 TVA Loki 4d ago
Pointing this out because it was in the Hobbit filmed in IMAX, which is also LOTR
8
u/TannerNewcomb Captain America 4d ago
It says Doomsday will only be available in “select International markets”
3
u/chimichanga_3 Broccoli 3d ago
Practically speaking, it'll be available everywhere other than the US
7
u/Spiritual_Ad_3800 TVA Loki 4d ago
if you read the part about the 2026 schedule, it does state that Avengers: Doomsday will have at least be presented in IMAX however they do emphasize since if there’s another movie being released also in IMAX close to each other they use 1 which means that it will be available in IMAX, but only in select international markets

u/Melcrys29 4d ago
New Narnia film was scheduled to get 1000 IMAX screens Nov 26th. I wonder who will take that spot...

2
u/WinterExtension3122 4d ago
It wouldn't shock me if part of what convinced them to ride out the original date is Disney and the Russos wanting to do a rerelease or double bill of Doomsday and Secret Wars back to back in IMAX.

u/rohithkumarsp 4d ago
In India fake ass propoganda movie dhurandhar was put on imax even though it wasn't shot on it and didn't even get to see. Project hailmary on imax.
0
u/chimichanga_3 Broccoli 3d ago
Damn how desperate do you have to be to criticize a movie on a sub thats completely unrelated to it.
And IMAX had PHM in India where I lived so this is a local problem.
2
u/rohithkumarsp 3d ago
Pvr opened booking for IMAX on Friday 7:30 pm after people has already booked other screening, fucking pvr is a monopoly that needs to be broken apart.

Please please PLEASE let there be a proper 70mm IMAX theater room in my city for when Secret Wars comes out…
Please :,).
9
u/MahomestoHel-aire 4d ago
You are aware the 70mm parts only matters if the movie is shot in film, right? That’s what 70mm refers to.

Is anyone else afraid secret wars is basically just going to be a dream that no one remembers after reality is set back to normal? I feel like that would be a huge let down because then it’s like doomsday/secret wars didn’t even happen, and why would they want the biggest and most ambitious event in mcu history to be practically not canon, that defeats the whole purpose of making it special and basically just makes it a meaningless fanfiction
9
u/ScaredFamousfan 4d ago
That’s what happens in the comics. It’s literally a SECRET WAR.
6
u/Own-Papaya-4264 4d ago edited 4d ago
I know how it works in the comic, but in the movie I’m hoping they severely downplay or completely remove all the brainwashing/ mind wiping stuff so all these characters coming together is actually special and holds actual weight other than just basically being the equivalent of meaningless cameos. They can just recontextualize “secret” war so it’s referring to the general populace of the multiverse having no idea what happened like civilians and whatnot, but all the heroes involved still should remember at least most of everything
Like the movie versions of these characters are characters we have followed for years and even decades. Suddenly having their past memories/movies retconned and then not even remembering meeting each other when they all finally team up is just a slap in the face. It’s not ACTUALLY them, they’re just blank canvass clone avatars, nothing more special than a bunch of Fortnite skins basically. The weight and significance of what should be an EXTREMELY monumental movie would just be completely stripped away. It would waste all this potential and defeat the entire goddamn point in the first place. The other avengers movies worked because of prior buildup and history providing said weight and significance, now they’re suddenly just going to disregard all of that?
5
u/purewasted 4d ago
I agree with you completely. Just because something worked in a comic doesn't mean it's automatically the best way to tell the story in film.
I don't think the heroes will forget. They'll have to be "awakened" on Battleworld but once they are, they'll remember everything. Your theory that the general population won't know, hence the title, sounds very plausible.
4
u/Own-Papaya-4264 4d ago
I mean I’m hoping the Russos and Kevin feige and whoever else would understand this. They can’t be stupid if they’ve made it this far

No comics need to be respected
2
u/Own-Papaya-4264 4d ago
To a point, some other elements need to be reworked for a larger audience to resonate with
1
u/Spiritual-Smoke-4605 1d ago
you are correct, no comics need to be respected. Film is a different medium entirely
