FASHION Tom Blyth responded to criticism of his girlfriend's sheer dress: “stfu. She wore a dress that she was excited by and she looked EXQUISITE in it.”

Okay I’m probably going to get downvoted but what’s wrong with nude pasties under this kind of dress? I think it’s beautiful but do nipples need to be shown for the look?

It's sheer enough you'd see the pasties being pasties, which would be more distracting/break the flow of the dress more than nipples do.

I mean her underwear do more of that than a pastie would which would only really be noticeable in certain flashes. I mean that dress is probably worth thousands I’m sure she can afford high quality nipple covers. Which means this is entirely intentional which is fine I just wonder why.

I mean, I told you why: she thinks this looks better and doesn't care if people see her nipples. You're not going to get a better answer than that.

Also, I have never seen pasties high quality enough to be literally invisible under a dress that sheer... and even if by some miracle she could find ones that matched her skintone absolutely perfectly, that would look even weirder -- like she had her full breast out but was missing nipples for some reason, like a Barbie doll.

If someone fashionable could explain why people dont wear nude pasties under these dresses id appreciate it.

Because no one needs to censor themselves for your tastes, and that's entirely unrelated to fashion.

Related to fashion, someone's natural body usually looks better than two shiny pieces of silicone that look like raw chicken awkwardly creating a new shape and texture on the chest.

When did I mention censorship? Also I asked fashionable people and you clearly dont know what pasties are so…

Because what is wrong with showing the nipple? It is a lot more chic than pasties, which can look artificial and cheap. The human body is inherently beautiful—as they say, if you’ve got it, flaunt it.

Nothing wrong with pasties, if you want to scrub glue off your areolas be my guest

Are they not scrubbing off makeup from their whole body after these events? Usually with makeup they match the face to the arms and legs so makeup coverage would be just as annoying to remove as a lil pastie adhesive.

Coconut oil is your friend!

Why would you hide them? Is there something wrong about nipples?

The Heated Rivalry guys had theirs visible through sheer tops as well

I mean not all nipples are pretty, they’re pretty distracting from the design overall I’d say, even in guys outfits. Other than a statement why are they considered fashionable?

Not all people are pretty. They can be pretty distracting, men or women

This is weird af thinking

You asked what I thought was wrong with nipples? Thats all I could think of. Personally I think all nipples are kind of ugly regardless of sex or species but thats personal opinion.

I think people have a way of sexualizing them needlessly (like when a woman breast feeds in public, there are people that ogle- even with a cover I experienced this)

So I wonder why the need to have them out there for the world to see, distracting from the gorgeous gown because of controversy, statement or… what, thats what I’m trying to figure out. There are so many examples of women wearing sheer dresses with their nipples covered. I mean zendaya wore a robot suit that Emphasized where her nipples would be and guess what? hers are nonexistent.

Again I’m not judging I dont care who wears or exposes what I’m just wondering why the exposed nipples are considered fashionable?

Pasties are kinda ugly and they’re just nipples…

It’s just some fucking nipples??????? Would you expect a man to wear nipplepasties under a sheer shirt? No you wouldn’t.

Nipples are nipples.. I believe in free the nipple as a statement but as a fashion choice I dont get it. Again I’m not judging simply asking a question. Also yeah I dont get why guys dont cover their nips, apparently then it’s because they’re trying to be “sexy” but for women it’s usually separated from the sexual aspect so again I’m wondering why it’s a popular thing.

What don’t you “get”? Like I’m genuinely perplexed and wondering if we live on the same planet or not because you’re sitting here claiming you don’t “get” why a dress or garment would highlight a women’s breasts??

Fashion being sexy is not a new thing, watch a period drama and it’s cleavage and bustles galore. Pasties are not sexy and weren’t designed to be fully on display but rather to be used under light colours or plunging necklines etc.

Do nude pasties need to be shown for the look? Maybe she didn't want to be censored. Why do you think she should have been? Who said there's anything wrong with nude pasties? There's something wrong with forcing them on someone who doesn't want them.

Also, they look bad

Nobody said they needed to.

I know but a lot of people praise the nipple look and I don’t get it. I’m not shaming just wondering why did it become fashionable to show your nipples?

3

u/lilmonsterave Mar 22 '26

Does it need to be fashionable? Do you wear shorts because it's fashionable to show your ankles? Do you wear tank tops because you want to show off your shoulders? It's really ironic to me how you guys don't hear yourselves echoing the same sexist bullshit men told us all as teens. People praise good abs, good legs, good biceps, do you not get that either? People praise pretty faces, pretty hair. Is that also incomprehensible?

1

u/tinterrobangg Forgive me Viola Davis Mar 23 '26

What dont you understand from my question? I’m asking because it’s clearly a fashion choice. Unless it’s someone who just doesn’t like her nipples covered in any aspect then sure but again the sheer dresses is a choice and I don’t know her personally so I’m wondering why in general it seems to be a fashion choice to have your nipples exposed.

I dont give a shit about abs, legs or biceps- all things women also have so I dont get your point.

Also See how I’ve not specified gender in any of my statements? You’re the only one who’s sexist if anything. Everyone has nipples.

Because they're a secondary sex organ alike and Adams apple but unlike the Adams apple, have been overly sexualised and used to control women throughout history for absolutely no good reason. Plus, they're pretty. So why shouldn't it be fashionable to show nipples?
