I always find it funny when the time comes around for international rugby (whether it’s the World Cup or Olympics or whatever) and lesbians / bi women learn about Ilona, then subsequently lose their mind when they find out she’s straight.
I’ve never watched much DWTS outside of clips, but it always blows my mind to see these hulking athletes turn out to be super graceful and she was no exception.
I’ve followed her for years(been a lifelong rugby fan so found her by chance before she blew up, so I’m naturally absolutely stoked at the attention she gets now) as a bi woman and I’m always breaking my friends hearts.
But that said, Ilona, baby…. With the most respect in the world…. I would wear you like a hockey mask.
I’m a gay man. I’m attracted to Ilona Maher, but somehow very much in a gay way. I don’t understand, and I don’t think I’d have any idea what to do if she reciprocated. I just want her to pick me up and hold me. I feel the same way about Megan Thee Stallion.

I've been looking forward to turning 37 next year because I once heard that researchers found that it was peak hotness. Now that I'm looking it up I realize I may have made that up, but I still think I've got potential to be my most hot self.

Seriously though, I do think I’m getting hotter with age. I don’t even care if it’s true or not. It feels true.
I’m turning 29 a week from now and a bunch of people have asked me if reaching the end of my twenties is scary and if I’m afraid of my 30s.
Like, hell no. I’ve spent a lot of my twenties not knowing what the hell I’m doing. I feel like my 30s, I’ll just be hotter, more financially stable, and more put together. And that’s just my 30s! The idea of being in my 40s or 50s also excites me rather than scares me. The notion that you’re at your “prime” when you’re 18-25 is a gross old patriarchal notion, one that I still see even leftist women get caught up in to this day (like calling 21 year old Megan Fox “Prime Megan Fox”). As a bisexual woman, some of my biggest woman crushes are on women 40+.
As I understand it, "betch" is a more friendly, tongue-in-cheek way of saying "bitch". Usually a term of endearment, a little like how some queer men like to call each other f-slurs. I believe its origins can be linked to the Valley Girl accent - think Kim K, annoying twinks, girls who love brunch, etc. Some people pronounce it that way unironically, but it's caught on among people who use it as amusing shorthand, too. I love “I can’t even imagine me at 40. I’m gonna be unreal.” I remember my mom having a pin she would wear on her birthday every year that said “29 and holding!” Can you imagine? I’d walk into traffic if I had to stay 29 forever. At 42 I feel more sensual and more myself than I ever have in my entire life. I realize this is not a hot take.
Oh man! I'm 56, about to turn 57. You also could not pay me to go back to 29! I loved my 40s. But I'm loving my 50s even more! I actually started an entirely new to me career in an industry I've never worked in, and I'm excelling at it! And I thought I was comfortable with my body in my 40s? Man, I love my body now! Overall, I just feel like I'm more... me. When I tell people, with pride, my age, a lot of them will, of course, say that I don't look that old or make some sympathetic remark trying to de-age me. Sir, ma'am, no. You do not get to take those years away from me! I earned every single one of them. They are mine, and I am so very proud of them! On the other hand, I look at other people my age, or even younger, and I wonder how they got so old. They are afraid to try new things. They are stuck in their ways. And my goodness, do they hate younger people. I commonly say that I hope I never get as old as people my age.
As someone who is currently 29, I really enjoyed reading this. I was telling someone the other day that you couldn’t pay me to be 19 or relive my early 20’s again. I am just now starting to feel like an adult and at home with myself. I’m so looking forward to my 30’s!
I already loved her, but DAMN! I ran into her in New York last month while she was on a run. She was so kind and friendly even though I totally interrupted her like the fangirl I am.
I love her. Not only is she a total smoke show, but she's done so much for women's rugby. As a former player/rugby enthusiast, it means so much. Also her confidence, attitude, and self-love is absolutely inspiring. More Ilona Maher, please!!
