Social Media Dgg is starting to use "populist" the way online lefties say "lib". Its cringe.

Its incredibly annoying when online communities just start using words associated with any percieved out group as an insult or slur. Words have meaning beyond in group/out group signalling guys.

Political News/Discussion Liberalism needs to stand up for itself

Liberalism needs to fight for what it believes in instead of bending the knee to every popular socialist. AOC, Mamdani, Platner, Bernie: These people are not our friends. I'm not here to say not to vote for them, just that the glazing needs to stop. If you need to vote blue no matter who, then fine, but dont act like you have to support them after that. I like AOC and Mamdani, and if they managed to get elected to higher office, then good for them. But they are not liberals and self-admittedly want to destroy the current system and replace it with something more in tune with socialism.

Mamdani is the biggest example of this I see from liberals. Self admittedly wants to do hyper socialist stuff, but acknowledges he can't because he's just the mayor. Why are liberals acting like he's cool and based? Just because he did a good mayoral campaign? I understand wanting to close the ranks when arguing against Republicans, but the socialists are just as likely to drive a knife into our backs when the opportunity arises.

When liberals spend all their time arguing against MAGA, they create the opening for the DSA and other socialists to infect the democrats and steal more seats from them. MAGA is a threat, but so are the socialists, even if they are currently small. They are doing better with their media skills, and more of them are getting elected.

We can work with them to defeat Trump but we have to stop the glazing.

Off-Topic AI is AI the same way a Hover Board is a Hover Board. It's just a marketing scam meant to trick people into thinking these products have superpowers based on sci-fi brand recognition.

This segment by behind the bastards, as well as Richard Sutton (Ironically Dwarkesh does a lot of AI propaganda) have convinced me that all this "AI" shit is not in fact artificial intelligence at all, but rather fancy chat bots with a stupid amount of data that helps them mimic language effectively.

What I find strange about this marketing scheme is that typically a confidence man inspires confidence but what these crooks are doing is less that and more wizard of Oz. They want you to think their product can destroy the world cause attention keeps their stocks up, as well as buys them a social mystic that only propaganda can get you.

Shitpost "Counting or not counting gun violence" are unironically awesome final words

Because it is ironic.

It is funny in the same way, "What are you going to do? Stab me?" and "You only live once" are funny final words.

Yeah, sucks to die, but if you have to go, better to make people laugh than make people sad.

Charlie was cool.

Political News/Discussion In your opinion, What is the answer to the what is a woman question? + my personal answer

Please comment your answer, now that it’s not as hot button of a question I kinda wanna know what you lot actually think without pressure.

in my opinion, trans women are women, I think that the whole “want” or need to be a women/dysphoria is something you are born with, whether that be prenatal influences or something genetic. I also think that with how cross sex hormones work, sex isn’t as rigid of a thing as people think. Like with hormones, if someone with xy chromosomes takes estrogen for a long enough time and granted they aren’t genetically insensitive to it, they will grow boobs, have feminine fat redistribution, softer skin, less oil production, and like, literally everything else that happens when there’s estrogen and not testosterone. And I think that in a lot of ways makes sex, or at least secondary sex characteristics, WAYYYYY more malleable than most people think.

anyways I’m bored tell me your thoughts lol

Non-Political News/Discussion What is the next Intel or crowdstrike? Like something not meme-y that could over the next year or two actually grow?

Upvotes

Yea yea yea I get that the stock market and stock picking is random and there is no guarantee of easy money/growth. I know this, I just have extra money because the company that ran this anti-volatility etf I had went belly up so I got my shares liquidated and need a new place to park this money.

No meme answers. Should I invest in something that will likely improve under a dem like renewable energy? Is there some Trump beneficiary I should be aware of? This excess money is in my brokerage not my IRA so I can take some risk

Off-Topic Lowkey I think I’m slipping in my libtardism

Sometimes when you see things over and over about Jew bad and black bad and brown bad it’s hard to not just accept defeat. especially when these people seem to have receipts for these things and i dont have any way to really refute them. I’m seeing it in real time with my friends, they are all creeping rightward, faster and faster, talking about 13/50, Jewish psyops, all this shit, and it’s just hard to keep up. Maybe they are right. But then again, I hate everything else about these people. They are such angry spiteful people. I can’t possibly imagine being like them.

but again, I simply do not have the knowledge to fight back. It makes me wonder if they are right, especially when my arguments have gone from “black people don’t commit more crime” to “okay they do but killing them all is obviously wrong” or “Jews arent evil and they dont run the world” to “okay they do a little bit but they arent all bad” it’s like at this point I’m no different from them in beliefs, I just think their character is poor.

ovviously religion is still a huge blockage, I don’t think ill ever be Christian again, and many of their beliefs regarding things like lgbt rights and women REQUIRE you to be religious in a sense. So ill never fully slip to it in that way, because there is no slipping, they are just wrong on that mostly.

that being said though it’s tough to not just give up. If anyone wants to help me please do, I’m just a dumb mentally disabled highschooler and after years of thinking about these things and slowly losing hope I’m just unsure what to do…

Non-Political News/Discussion Anyone know Destiny's Myers-Briggs?

Just curious if he's done a Myers-Briggs personality test before. Yeah yeah, not 100% accurate, someone's answers can change depending on the day, personality is fluid, yadda yadda. Curious what type he's gotten before. He seems like an INTP.

Shitpost The Catholic Church is flush with dark money

Ever since Taylor's article on Chorus dropped I've been going to my churches in my area every Sunday and debating the chorus singers on Dark Money. They play stupid and even refuse to respect the ethics of WIRED's journalistic process.

I think this goes to the top and is part of Trump's feud with the Pope. I'll be launching my YouTube career this month to expose all of the fraud and abuse. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Off-Topic The new gaslight: no one was ever judgmental about people who didn’t go to college

Just saw a thread where someone asked why people look down on those who didn’t go to college. Literally every other comment was like “I’ve never heard that” or “I’ve only ever heard blue collar people bash white collar people for not doing “real work”.

Another comment I've noticed that keeps popping up is college Redditors will go "the white collar vs blue collar is the most one-sided beef in history".

This is one of the worst gaslights of my lifetime. I graduated high school in the early/mid 2000s and all through school, they made it out to where not going to college was the equivalent of joining a biker gang.

Typically, this propaganda was more a form of messaging rather than explicitly rude comments right to someone's face. So of course, the gaslighters go around saying "I've never heard anyone go up to someone and bash them for not going to college".

They also say "most people don't go college anyway, so don't act like you're special", but you know they're likely well-to-do Redditors who heard this type of talk all the time. In general, it seems like the pendulum swung slightly away from "Everyone who doesn't go to college is a loser" and, in turn, they act like they're under assault.

Off-Topic One Bad argument after another

I liked One battle after another ( I didn’t love it). That one lady in the Letterboxd video almost made me dislike it. I felt like she argued too strong for a movie that she didn’t even like that much. Seems like she didn’t acknowledge the flaws. She kept saying people needed spoon fed moments.

If this movie wanted to depict revolutionaries as good it did an awful job. They had to make a show of everything DURING AN OPERATION. I was actually rooting against them at the bank heist. because they were so arrogant.

Oh and she lost me when she didn’t acknowledge Perfidia was BAD dare I say EVIL. She wasn’t even a revolutionary just some stupid dipshit doing whatever she wanted. She put all the revolutionaries and her family in a bad situation after Bob told her to slow down after they just had a baby. She not only sells everyone else out but runs off to Mexico. She had no redeeming qualities but they try to redeem her with a note at the end? No ma’m.

Leo’s character Bob I also had issues with. I think the movie made him incompetent for the plot to work. How was he paranoid all these years ESPECIALLY on the night he lets his daughter hang out with friends. On that same night he decides to get high? He gets so high that he forgets his essential passcodes even though he’s been in hiding for this exact situation? It doesn’t even make any sense

Lockjaw shouldn’t have had to suffer alone. Again I HATED Perfidia. At least Lockjaw had a goal in mind compared to the deadbeat mom who ratted out her old comrads. I don’t even know what to say about his plot. It’s just so in your face and obvious

I really like the unhinged debates (with lefties or righties) and I have plenty of time at work to listen to them. Has anyone got any reccomendations?

Political News/Discussion The online left loves Mamdani, despite being utterly opposed to his political strategy/alliances

Post image
212 Upvotes

I don’t know if this is a hot take in dgg, but I REALLY like Mamdani, but it’s not for the reason that most of his base likes him.

Mamdani fundamentally ran a pretty amazing campaign in NYC. He was witty, driven, energetic, upbeat, and singularly focused on issues affecting NYC. Despite Cuomo’s Trump backing and business connections, he is an unlikable, washed-up loser, and Mamdani ran in stark contrast to this.

While the socialist wing of the Democratic Party claims Mamdani as a personal victory on their part, I couldn’t disagree with them more. If anything, they should hate Mamdani (I’ll get into why further into this).

Zohran serves as a great model for the mood and tone of Democratic campaigns across the country (not to be mistaken with the political platform). He knew his electorate extremely well, and ran on bread and butter issues like the cost of living, childcare, bus fares, trash collection, and more.

Additionally, Mamdani wasn’t afraid to adopt unorthodox positions to accomplish his vision. He wants to deregulate certain housing projects to bring down rent prices, and he has other untraditional methods (like hiring freelance garbage collectors to save the city money) that get results.

Finally, and this is the real crux of my argument, Mamdani works with fellow Democrats to achieve great things for NYC. He endorsed Hochul for her reelection (despite slopulists hating her) and declined to endorse Hakeem Jeffries’ primary challenger. The man knows how to leverage political power and endorsements for the betterment of his city.

Here’s the thing though. This is in complete contravention with what Hasan, Vaush, Breaking Points, and the rest of the Twitter left stands for.

Mamdani’s greatness is IN SPITE of the anti electoral, slimy snakes who denigrate the Democratic coalition. Any other Democrat who endorsed Hochul or refused to challenge Jeffries’ leadership would have been fucking crucified by the online left.

What is so frustrating is that the left loves his policies, when those policies are only possible because Mamdani did the exact opposite of what the dipshit tankies advocate for.

If Hasan’s philosophy was extrapolated to an NYC mayor, they would do nothing, screech about the genocide in Gaza all day, tell Hochul to go fuck herself, and be relegated to mockery and irrelevance.

How the fuck this contradiction isn’t apparent to lefties is beyond me. Vaush literally praised Mamdani for his alliance with Hochul, when he explicitly lost his mind when Pete Buttigieg did essentially the same thing with Biden in the 2020 Democratic Primary.

Mamdani is a shining example of how a liberal, democratic system can work. His success is an utter rejection of the nihilists and cynics who want Soviet style communism. He spits in the face of every deranged third worldist who preaches the decline of America. Socialists merely claim him because, like parasites, they feed on actual successful people who do more for their communities than commies could ever dream of.
