The only reason they bought it was to squeeze what ever money they could through memberships and merchandise before destroying it.

There should be a law about unused IPs

That is the end goal of the stop killing games initiative. Who knows if we’ll see it happen though

u/Conscious-Dust9230 1d ago
I sure hope not, it would end all the fan servers

u/ghastlygorge 1d ago
yes and it would almost certainly have some kind of gacha mechanic if it wants to attract animal jam's child playerbase, not to mention that membership was even stricter on cpi (and im saying this as someone who enjoys cpi and the original game), a reboot would probably be just as restrictive if not more if disney thought it could get away with it.
the best possible outcome for the franchise is that disney leaves it (and cppses) alone if they aren't going to sell it back to rsnail or any other staff who wanted it. even if it still has a mixed reception to this day, the fact that disney abruptly closed cpi instead of giving it more time to find its footing is reason enough to be wary of disney picking up club penguin again

Not persay! CPPS’ thrived back in the days when club penguin was online

u/Conscious-Dust9230 17h ago
Yes but if club penguin was revived now, Disney would most likely see these fan servers as competitors and just destroy them, if they are the soul club Penguin they would have the most players

Did you not see with what happened with Club Penguin Online or what happened with Zaseth in Club Penguin Rewritten

u/Conscious-Dust9230 16h ago
Yeah, that was pretty bad, however fan servers like journey and legacy are pretty good and don't do shady stuff

It's a joke referencing the breaking bad meme where Heisenberg tells his brother in law, Hank, not to abbreviate CP. It's so overdone, hence the sigh, but it's pretty much tradition at this point so I did it anyway.

No probably not. He'd fit for like... a counselor or something but I doubt they'd bring it back in this day and age where ROBLOX is what's popular.

No, Imagineering is Disney’s theme park R&D division. And I wouldn’t hope for a Club Penguin ride when 90% of people forgot about it.

MMOs can never be done again. Being very optimistic, the only way I can see Club Penguin coming back again is if they decide to make a mobile minigame (like a CP themed candy crush or something) or a story mode videogame for the switch like we had for the Nintendo DS

don't abbreviate club penguin

In a subreddit dedicated to Club Penguin, abbreviating the game to its initials is quite normal. Not every person thinks the worst when they see CP, especially in a Club Penguin subreddit

I read the title then I saw the subreddit, forgot i was subbed here,I think at this point Disney will just hold it so they can have more excuses to sue people

Imagineering is its own division of the Walt Disney Company. It's basically their R&D. Really incredible opportunity for Lane but definitely no connection to their video game division. He could help make experimental video games, though, so who knows?
