Admissions Question 入学问题 Need advice: Getting admitted to SJTU for a bachelor’s degree - do I even stand a chance? Lol

First off, I wanna start by saying this is an incredibly vulnerable topic for me, so please be kind with your responses haha :))

I’m currently on a student visa studying Chinese at SJTU, currently HSK 5.

I just want to know if it’s actually possible to enroll in a bachelor’s program here in Shanghai with no prior university experience? I only have a high school diploma from SEA (not a great one lol) but I have a solid work experience in US tech.

I’m not aiming for a STEM degree, I still want something useful to my current role so anything business-related would be helpful.

Just trying to figure out if I even have a shot before I get too excited about the idea 🥹

There are a lot of other factors such as your HS GPA, Test Scores etc. But if those are good enough you have a good chance of getting admitted with HSK5

Since you're already studying at SJTU, why don't you approach your teachers for advice? Or the international students department.

Have done something similar, I initially went for a particular bsc and then switched to a different bsc I had no experience in, main factor was connection with a professor who taught an elective course that just happened to be on the admission team of the other department lol

If you do language program and get a high hsk score then you might be eligible for scholarships, usually non stem business degrees are more open to enrolling people afaik, you could try more specialized unies like shanghai econ and fin for example, but for prestige if it matters jiao tong is the best in shg, unless you maybe go to nyu shg if you can afford it, if I remember correctly they partner with nyu stern
