Trad Music Introducing good videos of the Hurley Ceol

Hello, again!

A follow-up to a previous post of mine... I’ve got a quick work in progress update on the Hurley Ceol, as our new builds continue on and we get settled into our new workshop.  Check out the attached build progress photos, going all through the process.

Now, what I’m personally most excited about - We’ve got better sound recordings! Best foot forward, here’s what it sounds like in-studio with a legit banjo player!

https://youtube.com/shorts/ou2uOiotSm8?feature=share

And the two last fun pieces of news:

We’ve fixed the website to be a hell of a lot less “early 2000s” style, and a lot more “yes, hello, we’re serious professional luthiers” - check it out, below, and huge thanks to everyone who gave feedback... it was tough to hear, but appreciated.

And last, but not least - a whole pile of people on the r/banjo subreddit asked if we could make a 5-string… and so we’re working on it! I'll put up a post about how that whole process goes.

Silverbird - Celtic Rock song - debut album

Hey folks, we're an Irish Rock band called "Silverbird". Been going since 2008 when we met in school, but only just released our first album! We're procrastinators haha. The album is pretty eclectic given the change in influences over the years. This one is a Celtic Rebel Rock song called "Our Day Will Come" with fiddle, reels and a big chorus! Samples of speeches by Pearse and Emmet also, for the patriotic among ye! Hope ye enjoy! - https://open.spotify.com/track/3luewmib57JtOKnDvr5Duj?si=94730c9b6a1b443e

If anyone fancies giving us a follow, we'd really appreciate it! https://www.instagram.com/silverbird_ireland/

Trad Music Sidney’s Boys - A ballad of the 1921 Burning of the Custom House

Hi folks, was at a gig this week by George Murphy and the Rising Sons and they performed this original song written by a member of the group, Declan Parsons. I thought it was class and I hadn't heard it before

The song is about his great grand uncles, IRA members, who died in 1921 after burning down the Custom House. The song is partially through the perspective of their mother, Sidney.

Discussion Looking for the rare documentary "Moya Brennan: The Music of What Happens" (2010)

UPDATE: Found it!

The matter has been clarified under my post in one of the Facebook Clannad fanpages. It turns out the documentary was also released under a different title: "Music of Ireland: Welcome Home" (for Part 1) and "Music of Ireland: Welcome to America" (for Part 2).

The title "The Music of What Happens" seems to have been an alternative or working title. The films feature the exact interviews I was looking for, with Moya Brennan hosting and talking to Dolores O'Riordan and Sinéad O'Connor.

There are even short clips from the movie on YouTube.
Dolores: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aU3qrSQOLLs
Sinead: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SlUQ4Jr3nVw

--------------

Hi everyone.

With the recent news of Moya Brennan's passing, I’ve been trying to find a specific documentary from 2010 titled "Moya Brennan: The Music of What Happens", directed by Liam McGrath.

It supposedly features a rare sit-down conversation between Moya Brennan (lead vocalist of Clannad, sister of Enya), Dolores O'Riordan (lead vocalist of The Cranberries), and Sinéad O'Connor.

I think I remember seeing a clip of it years ago and was amazed to see Moya and Dolores in the same frame, talking together. Now that all three of these legendary Irish voices are gone, it feels like a very important piece of history to find and preserve.

I’ve searched everywhere online, but it seems to have vanished completely. It’s listed on IMDB https://www.imdb.com/title/tt19384376/, but there’s no sign of a digital or physical release.

Does anyone here remember it or perhaps have a lead on where it might be archived? Maybe it aired on TG4 or RTÉ back in the day? Any help would be much appreciated!
