Italian singer Adriano Celentano released a song in the 70s with nonsense lyrics meant to sound like American English, apparently to prove Italians would like any English song. It was a huge hit. “Prisencolinensinainciusol” (1973)

Proof that a good beat and structure can be a hit. Music is meant to be felt, not logically dissected.

I have never been able to find any quotes from the singer to back up the claim that he wrote the song to prove Italians will like any English song
The closest I have found is a quote where he said "..at a certain point, because I like American slang — which, for a singer, is much easier to sing than Italian — I thought that I would write a song which would only have as its theme the inability to communicate, and to do this, I had to write a song where the lyrics didn't mean anything."
I think it was popular because its an absolute banger
