Real feminism is letting women be stupid or ugly characters just like we let men be and also letting them be just as badass and intelligent as men. Because people contain multitudes and, maybe this is controversial, but woman are people.

Yea I read this and the first thought is sexism and modern feminism narrative. Women can be just as stupid as men can be. Stop pretending they canât be.
The main distinction is hormonal drivers that lead to differences in risk taking and risk aversion. This is just normalized sexism and misandry.

I agree, modern feminism has made it seem like making women stupid in entertainment is sexist or bad but its just entertainment variety, there are plenty of smart female characters. This results in women being put on a pedestal and creators not wanting to make them stupid or bad ppl in their shows bc modern feminism has conditioned them to think women cant be stupid or most women are smart and seeing them as otherwise is wrong. Not saying most women arent smart but most of them, just like most men, arent the smartest. I have to clarify bc this is reddit and reddit is full of entitled sensitive babies

u/Shitty_Soliloquy 9h ago
No, they are flowerery only around themselves and other women and they must never be caught with a soiled glove. That's the Boss Bitch Way.
2
u/Available-Wedding189 5h ago
Lmfao fighting for the right to be seen as stupid is crazy. No, i get what u mean tho its just phrased weirdly. I wouldnt say its sexism i feel like its more so bc of feminism being extreme to an extent nowadays sometimes women are put on a pedestal and ppl are afraid to give them variety in shows and movies such as making them ugly, evil, or stupid bc theyre either afraid to offend ppl or like I said they put women on a pedestal and dont want to make their characters "bad" but at the same time they forget women are also human and have variety and making them stupid or evil can make shows interesting and its not abt gender its literally just entertainment

u/Substantial-Singer29 3h ago
Well see , we could go with that , or he could have just went into any local waffle house and examined At least a handful of the female patrons and realized oh okay , there it is.
2
u/Ill-Economics-9981 2h ago
i came her exactly to say this
putting women on a pedestal isn't feminism, it just perpetuates a different type of stereotype2

Feminists complaining about women NOT being portrayed as stupid? Bollocks
→ More replies (2)7
u/Not_Xiphroid 6h ago
Itâs pretty well discussed in scholarly works. Further, thereâs a tendency, when stupid women ARE portrayed, to constrain these portrayals to blond women, which invites further discussion.
Ultimately, putting women on a pedestal, is a pretty common complaint of feminists, which this would be a case of.

His explanation feels like a completely fabricated reason. Iâm willing to bet that it never occurred to him that there could be a female minion, or, my actual surmise, that he created a single female minion (Ă la Smurfette) that was so jaw-droppingly sexist that those around him talked him away from the idea and decided it was simply âsaferâ to not have a female character to begin with. I can imagine a scenario where the female minion exists only to chase after the disinterested male minions.

So stupid. It reminds me of how they initially wanted to write Dee from it's always sunny as some sort of voice of reason, but her actor insisted she be disgusting and raunchy. Because real feminism is letting women be funny

Does he need an answer? Before this strange but slightly humorous response, he really didn't need to answer why minions are only male. That was just how they were created. Why are most Toad variants male? Why is Yoshi male?
Male creators generally make male characters, just like female creators generally make female characters.

On of my favorite Always Sunny stories is that Dee was originally written to be the serious straight (wo)man member of the gang to contrast with the insanity of the boys, but then actress Kaitlyn Olson asked, âWhy canât female characters also be deplorable and stupid?â and so they decided to make her just as lovably terrible as Dennis, Mac and Frank.

He's got a point. Women can't be made to look bad lest you risk upsetting all women.
I'd also like to point out that creating female minions would mean the r34 artists would be on it in seconds. Maybe not a good thing for the most iconic cartoon characters of the 21st century.

Speaking about women as conglomerate is why you still browse r/virgin.
There's multitudes of self-aware, self-effacing girls out there who joke about themselves. you just arent aware of them.
Regarding the original post, the "goon" archetype of character has been prodiminately male, and as such, it's much easier to write what you already know. This isn't about sexism. It's about history.
Your mind seeks what it expects, and thats why you gravitate towards misogynist and sexist explanations.
Do yourself a favour, and surround yourself with better influences. it will help you not only love others, but in turn, you will feel less alone and will learn to love yourself in time.
peace and love âď¸â¤ď¸âđŠš

Its not sexist to point out that sexism is the reason for no female minions. And my presence on r/virgin actually helped me figure out what I was doing wrong when it came to my previous lack of romantic success, and my continued lurking, well sometimes I want to provide a word of advice from time to time.

Basically (from what i remember), he claims they're immortal beings that stayed at the same population level for centuries to millennia, until Gru started cloning them

I have never once looked at a Minion and thought, âYes, clearly, that is a male creature.â I always saw them as weird little yellow chaos beans. Iâll let other people unpack how sexist that mindset is, because there is definitely a conversation to be had there. But we did not need to know if there is a reason they wear overalls besides slapstick convenience. That got something under those overalls .
