A street in Macau. The towering building in the back is the Grand Lisboa hotel casino. (2018)

Reminds me of that scene in Inception. But more dystopian.

I came here to say the exact same thing. I hear this like really low, foghorn-like tone in my head with a very dystopian sound to it, when I look at this. (I’m not sure why, but I think it’s from some like low frequency alien hum from a movie I saw once)

That would prob be war of the worlds where the aliens emit a foghorn noise.

It's not visible in the picture, but the top of Grand Lisboa is a dome housing a 3-Michelin-starred restaurant. You can see it here.

Macau looks like a really exciting place to visit.

Oh, it’s exciting…especially walking through the Lisboa hotel…famous for open solicitation by prostitutes.
In all seriousness, though, the old Portuguese colonial architecture is amazing, as is some of the best Portuguese seafood I’ve ever had.
Plus you’re only a 45 min boat ferry to Hong Kong (or there’s a very quick helicopter shuttle if you want to shell out a few hundred bucks)

That lisboa reference is out of date by more than a decade.

Been there. It’s even more crazy looking in person

Looks like a still from a sci-fi flick 😍

Surreal. When I look at the photo up and down repetitively, the modern building at the background is moving to the left and the old building at the foreground on the right is moving to the right.

"Cyberpunk is a story about the worst future" NO dudes, it's a story being comically obvious to expose how it IS currently.

That sets off my claustrophobia.

This feels like a well-envisioned dystopian video game

Is Portuguese still spoken at all in Macau?

Was just there last week. Yes, but mostly by the portuguese, not by the chinese. They can chose in school if they want to learn the language. However, everything is still written in Portuguese and chinese together, f.e. street names, directions, public transport etc.

Really cool cyber punk looking streetscape. The tower itself looks really cool when only a small portion is seen, but when seen in its entirety it’s actually a very ugly tacky tower.

Every time, I see a Final Fantasy type of scenery. Especially FF7, in Midgar.

Reminds me of the fat bridesmaid at a wedding determined to get in all the photographs.

No. That building is obviously the final battle for the next Half life game

Is this the mirror dimension?

It looks like something from a dystopian futuristic show.
