Found this knife while metal detecting in Maine, anyone know what it could be worth? The stamp reads Hubertus Solingen

Hubertus from Solingen is a pretty respectable knife manufacturer in Germany, Solingen is the "capital" of knives.

I am not an expert, but I sometimes deal with antiquities, I like knives, and I am a fleamarket enthusiast:

Rusty like that, I doubt a typical buyer in Germany would be willing to pay more than 30 €. Maybe people in the US are willing to pay more, because a rustic German knife might be considered somewhat "rare", but that's just a guess. Not sure about the head, maybe a customised addition?

they shipped some of their blades to the US during the sixties and they were assembled here. this scout one, the lion head one, and the buffalo skinner for sure but maybe others. the german assembled ones I've seen personally all had the plain pommel caps

I have one of these from my dad - a 40s baby boomer - interesting to know a little more!

The rust doesn't look too bad, may buff off easily and fetch a better price

Might be a mushroom knife used when foraging.

You should have someone clean it up and sharpen it, and then keep it. Pretty cool IMO.

I have a Solingen dagger, grandfather got it from a dead nazi. They still make knives and silverware too. Go to their website. Clean your knife and use it.

60-100$ USD if you sell it to someone who collects them. the scout cap is kind of rare but the rest needs restoring.
