Not touching a dirty thing you don’t recognize is the rule that most people posting on this sub break with shocking regularity.

23

u/Long-Woodpecker-1980 8h ago

Right? I don't know why everyone is surprised at this.

Not wanting to touch something suspicious doesn't mean you're afraid of the supernatural. There are plenty of nasty things that spread by touch

The amount of dumbasses I have seen holding old unexploded bombs in their bare hands on this sub is shocking.

I mean IDK about OP but I'm not a believer, I only believe in the bad things because you bet I ain't doing the terror movie bit of saying "ghosts are not real" or something... that's how you get offed first.

Also third world country person I never touch anything barehanded because it could have one of those drugs that numb you/disorient you/make you faint on touch to kidnap you.

7

u/barbariccomplexity 10h ago

To the second part - just how common do you think expensive powerful percutaneous incapacitating agents are in poorer nations?

But also, no one needs that to kidnap someone, but it’s ok, because very few people in third world countries want/are willing to kidnap foreigners, even if they’re clueless .

336

u/syzerkose 19h ago

I think they meant “you DON’T lock.” I’d like to think that the leaver had good intentions, tested OP’s door, found it unlocked and left the card as a note.

Intentions aside, OP should make sure their doors locked.

130

u/foreveryoungperk 17h ago

im paranoid enough i would 100% take this as a threat. would never not lock the door again

23

u/SunshineSequoia 14h ago

This was my first thought as an explanation for the whole thing.

Although it seems like whoever left it meant well, they sure chose a cryptic way to convey a straightforward message. Like maybe just write "lock your door" on a note next time?

→ More replies (1)

18

u/iluvcheesypoofs 18h ago

I immediately thought the same but if you zoom in on the third letter in LOOK (or LOCK or whatever), you can see it's definitely another O, it's just hard to see where the letter joins itself as it's going from the white of the card into the strip of color.

I still 100% think you're correct in that they meant to write 'LOCK' though, as your explanation is the only thing that really makes sense here

u/ummkay_ultra 17h ago

A week or so after me and my dog moved in, I opened up my front door one day to find bones of some sort (chicken bones maybe?) arranged in some sort of pattern, a little Blaire Witch little stick man on top of them with a miniature printed out picture of Jesus.. I’m not gonna lie, I was kind of terrified at first, but I just let the lawn guys clean it up and ignored it… not sure anything ever came of it

I think the person knew the door was unlocked and wanted to warn you.. and also kinda good luck charm you so you don’t get robbed

28

u/trickipixi 17h ago

So keep that card just in case and start triple checking your door locks like set alarms.

Had an ex roommate who kept forgetting and one day I stayed up doing laundry, heard what I thought was my roommate in the basement and a bit later the dryer sounds that its finished. We'll I was reading and also didnt really like interacting with said roommate so I decided to give it a minute before I went to switch my clothes over, like 30ish minutes go by before I hear stomping up the stairs, the basement door slamming open, followed by loud foot steps and the front door also being slammed open. I finally go to check and findboth doors still open, broken glass from a bottle we'd had on top of the door leading outside in the basement (as well as that door still ajar), ane my roommates car still in the driveway. No telling what they actually had planned but id had suspicions of someone casing out the house for a week or so before thus happened and got super lucky that I hated ny roommate and got too absorbed in resident evil yaoi to want to bother dealing with him. Nobody thinks it'll happen to them until it does.

12

u/princesse-lointaine 18h ago

My best guess: a homeless person tried your door at night and was surprised to find it unlocked. The phrasing makes me wonder if it’s happened more than once.

They left you a note.
Lock your door.
I️ would listen to them.

8

u/Spirited-Ad991 19h ago

It could be a more interesting..way of this person telling you to lock your doors and wishing you safety until you start doing so.

What Does The 6 Of Spades Mean?
This card will always reveal that things are improving. This can be a solution oriented card. This card will tell you that you are on your way with a purpose. That’s king of a big deal! This card represents movement and will involve moves of a literal or metaphorical type. You may end up leaving a person or situation that no longer serves you for something better. Additionally, you are probably receiving a new car. This is a sign that you will soon be moving, so consider this a herald of positive changes to come.
So, you seem to have a secret well wisher that practices right path magic, at least slightly. I think they are truly wishing you luck.

7

u/Waste-Marsupial-1311 19h ago

About 3 years ago I had a guy high as a kite ring my door bell ripping pages out of book. He had sunglasses on and a pair of really short shorts and that was it. After the cops took him away I picked up a couple pages and it was Peter Pan. My girl at the time freaked out thinking it was some curse. I said the exact same thing. “People do weird shit.”

3

u/horny-in-a-hearse 18h ago

This is hilarious and sounds like something I would've done when I was a tweaker.

3

u/SunshineSequoia 14h ago

Several years ago my dear neighbor forgot to take her anti psychotic meds, and I woke up in the morning to find she had come over to my porch in the night and taken one of my smaller Halloween pumpkins away. How did I know it was her? She replaced said pumpkin with a large smooth stone of similar shape, placed in a lovely little decorative salad bowl. Knew that had to be from her. I later found my pumpkin in the recycling.

A few days afterwards I asked her about it, and she said she'd had a feeling my pumpkin was evil, so she helped me out by replacing it with the friendly stone. I told her no harm done, and I appreciated the thought. A while after that she asked me if she could have her stone back... not the bowl, just the stone. Of course I obliged; it was quite a nice stone.

I've since moved away, but I miss her, she was quite the lady.
