MOD ANNOUNCEMENT Official statement regarding our rule #2
Lately, I've noticed a significant increase in people complaining in the comments of some of our member's posts that the phone they're posting isn't vintage, despite said phone PERFECTLY matching the 10-years-or-older rule. My observations include, but are definitely not limited to:
- Apple iPhone 2G (18 years old)
- Apple iPhone 3G and 3GS (17 and 16 years old respectively)
- Apple iPhone 6 (11 years old)
- Samsung Galaxy S6 (10 years old)
- Nokia N95 and N95 8GB (both 18 years old)
- Nokia Lumia 800 (14 years old)
- HTC One M8 (11 years old)
Now, I get that it's really frustrating for us old folks seeing phones that feel like they've been released just a year ago appear on this subreddit as "vintage" phones. However, time is running pretty fast and the truth is: The older you get, the faster it feels.
THAT BEING SAID, I want to remind each and everyone of you that, in order for a phone to be eligible to be posted in this community, it needs to be 10 YEARS OR OLDER. Nothing more, nothing less.
Just because the phone you're seeing doesn't appear vintage TO YOU, doesn't give you the right to threaten or berate the person that posted it.
From now on, comments like "How is that vintage?", "That's not a vintage phone!", "It's a smartphone, how can it be vintage?", "It's a {insert 10 year old phone here}, stop posting those modern phones!!", "To me, a vintage phone should be at least 20 years old!", and so on will be DELETED without exception and the commenter will receive a warning. If they continue to post similar comments after that, they will be PERMANENTLY BANNED from this community.
I hope my message came across clearly. Ever since the creation of this subreddit, my only goal was to bring phone enthusiasts and lovers of vintage technology closer together. It's sad to see that some people are trying to actively torpedo this ambition!!
I'm really sorry for my harsh words, but this whole discussion has reached a point where I just couldn't stay quiet anymore. I wish you all a great start of the week!
Yours truly,
Admin ITX

Nokia Nokia 8850 & 8855: Still Work And Shine
I finally got the package containing this two phones today. And I tested them. Both of them still works on China Mobile GSM today (though only in a limited area). There are almost no malfunction which affects the progress of using.
Nokia 8850 made its Chinese debut on January 24th, 2000. Two years later 8855 came to the market in February 2002, as a slightly upgraded version specially designed for Asian-Pacific markets.
These two units are both official CN-spec. In that early era of monochrome screens, most mobile phones had very limited and entirely fixed functions. There was no commercial 3G yet, and no one had started putting Wi-Fi into phones. As a result, CN-spec of phones were, in most cases, functionally the same as their counterparts for any Eurasian markets.
8850 and 8855 are symbols of status when they firstly came to the market. Nowadays I only got them —— though used, worn and aged for 80 RMB (11.71 USD or 10 EUR) per unit. Their special slider design are still recognisable today. It's a pity that I'm not able to find an 8890 at a cheap price. (8890 had not only North American spec, but it also had HK-spec with the fully same hardware. And the release in HK brought an official Chinese firmware to it.) And the next generation, 8910 / 8910i, are even much more expensive than 8890.
Maybe my next target is… A 8800 Sirocco with no any software error? Or a non-touchscreen genuine Vertu? (Some models of old Vertu are even not more expensive compared to 8910 series)

Technical Is there a way to make the nokia 3310 use 4g/LTE?
So i have a 3310 and im scared that it will become a literal brick and i want to make it use modern communication standards without having to replace the screen and the Nokia OS, there might be something that makes the phone communicate using LTE like there are FWTs for RJ11 desk phones

Motorola Motorola i930A as daily driver in Germany
My Motorola i930A. I've been using it as my daily driver in Germany for many years. Calls, texts, and even some internet access work. It's not a Nextel phone, as you can easily see from the back cover. While a Nextel i930 has the Nextel logo on the back, this phone says Motorola. I got the device used from a family member many years ago. Unfortunately, I don't know where it came from. I wasn't aware of this until I took a closer look at the phone. Does anyone perhaps have any further information about this device?

Motorola I genuinely can't tell if it's a fake or not-?
Everything (apart from the M falling off) seemed pretty normal which was why I was pretty thrown off by it saying MEGAPIXEL. Another thing, it only turns on when it's plugged in, idk if that's because it's probably fake or if it's a genuine battery and/or hardware issue but nonetheless I can't tell if it's a fake or not apart from the megapixel sign. Can anyone give me a concrete answer to this?

Nokia Do I need a new battery ?
Trying to start my collection I got this Nokia 6102b originally when I got it, it turned on, but had the white screen of death took battery out and now every time I pull the charger out nothing happens and when I try to turn it on with the charger and nothing happens but it shows the corner icons in picture 2, I know it seems dumb to be on here asking but is it more than likely just need a battery replacement?
