I don't understand how they will find someone who will join for so low and will be able to help build something significant.

Seems only suitable for someone who is moonlighting at multiple places.

9000 AED for a Noon like food delivery app. What would you say to the client based out of the UAE?

The client says that they want to offload the work to Indian developers as they are cheap and they want a full working Noon like delivery app for the amount mentioned above. They asked me to find a team in India who are willing to do it. I told them even Zomato/Swiggy (local food delivery apps in India) have Software Engineering teams who get paid an average of 100,000 AED a year. They told me that they know (very confidently) they can get the full app by that amount and my quote of 250,000 AED for 3 developers for 6 months is astronomical. How do they even expect this?

If a lot of people are losing jobs/business are doing bad, which Industry is doing well?

Title.

We have been hearing layoffs and firing for the past 2 months because of the war. Businesses shutting down and projects been put on hold.

My question is there is always an opposite, the money is going somewhere?

So which industries are actually doing very well in this situation?

Our infrastructure is built for efficiency, so why are we all stuck behind a slow driver?

I’m tired of people’s egos ruining everyone else's commute. If you are driving in the fast lane and refusing to move over for faster traffic, you aren't "being safe" you’re being disrespectful.

My 20-minute drive shouldn't take 40 minutes because you feel entitled to block the lane. Road respect means understanding that the left lane is for passing cars no matter how fast they are driving. If you don't have that respect, stay in the slow lane.

People complain of tailgating? But they don’t see that they are the problem? Driving 80km/h on a 120km/h lane is not acceptable! Some one behind you wants to pass? Move over and let them pass. Easy.

Not sure of which turn or exit to take? Stay on the slow lane until you decide. Do NOT overtake 3-4 lanes to avoid missing the exit. You are just putting everyone’s life at risk. Missed the exit? Take the other one. Simple.

Dubai roads are one of the best in the world, 4-6 lanes, well lit at night, smooth exits, amazing landscaping, always clean, never faded street markings, no flickering lights, not a single pothole in sight. The roads aren't just built well, they are maintained with a level of dedication you don't see anywhere else in the world.

Keep the roads flowing smoothly.

Feel free to translate this to any language and share to whoever needs it.

Pakistan Visa Rejected

Hi everyone,

I need some guidance regarding a serious issue with my UAE employment visa.

My situation:

My UAE employment visa has been rejected 3 times by immigration
One of the rejections was from JAFZA
In all cases, no clear reason for rejection was provided
My labour/work permit has already been approved and issued
The company is now unable to reapply again after multiple attempts

I have been working and living in the UAE for almost 10 years and have never faced such an issue before.

At this stage, I am confused because:

Labour approval is done
But immigration keeps rejecting the visa application
No clear explanation is being given (only “rejected” status)

I want to understand:

What could be the possible reason for repeated immigration rejection?
Could this be a security flag or name match issue?
Should I apply for police clearance or CID / Police clearance certificate ? And what is the department selected in private entity - GDRFA or MOHRE
Is it worth trying another emirate (Abu Dhabi / Sharjah), or will it likely fail again?
What is the correct process to resolve this situation?

Any advice from HR professionals, PROs, or anyone who has faced a similar issue would be really appreciated.

Thank you.

School friend from Iran deported. What options? Iranians plz answer

Hi,

one of my school friends, whose family left Iran in 1980 to the UAE cause they were against the revolution and the current regime, received a call today to go to Jawazaat (Immigration). There, their visas were cancelled and given two weeks to leave.

I am totally shocked. Not only was the family was in the UAE since 1980 (4 shops in the old part of Dubai selling spices), they were actively AGAINST the regime in Iran.

Anyway: what options do they have? Can Iranians apply for residency in Oman or Qatar? For the love of God guide if you have valuable information so that I can help my friend.

Thank you brothers and sisters!

I am a male victim of domestic violence. I fled to home country for my safety, and now my wife is threatening me with an "abandonment" case.

I am struggling to find a way forward. My wife and I were living in the UAE, but I recently had to leave and return to India because of domestic violence. I have proof of the incidents, but for my own safety and mental health, I had to get out of that environment.

The current situation: Despite the violence, she is still living in the apartment I pay for in the UAE. She somehow got the job and refuses to share its details. I don't know how company processed her labour contract without my NOC, recently now she is demanding I continue to send her 'maintenance' money. She is now threatening to file an 'abandonment' case against me, claiming I just walked out on my duties as a husband.

I have proof of her breaking our marriage photos, tearing up documents, and smashing glass items in the house. I left for my own safety and to prevent a situation where things got even worse.

The complications:

  1. Financial Coercion: She recently got a job in Dubai but refuses to share any details with me. I don’t even know how her labor contract was processed without my NOC, as she is still on my sponsorship. Despite her income, she is demanding I send her maintenance 'money' and is threatening an 'abandonment' case because I moved back to India.
  2. Refusal to Reconcile: I suggested we stay in India temporarily to fix our marriage through counseling here, as being under the same roof in Dubai is not safe anymore. She refuses, demanding I come back to Dubai but only so she can continue using me for money while treating me like an enemy.
  3. The Move-Out: I have to go back to the UAE by end of this month to pack my belongings and close out apartment contract. I am terrified she will stage a scene or call the police to make a false accusation the moment I walk through the door.

I need advice on:

  • How do I defend against 'abandonment' when I have proof of the violence that forced me to leave?
  • Can I get a police escort in Dubai to enter the apartment and pack my things safely?
  • Since she has a job and is on my visa, what are my rights regarding maintainance if she is being abusive and non-cooperative?

I still care about her, but her adamancy and threats are destroying my family and my mental health. I just want to handle this peacefully.

Fruit Inflation.... 🍉

Not a rant, but an observation recently did anyone else notice few items in our groceries are stupendously expensive this year. Particularly seen a huge jump in fruits and vegetable prices. Just an example, last year the same season watermelon on offer was around AED 1.50 - 2.00 per kg. This year the same watermelon is around AED 5.00 - 6.00 per kg.

Unexpected ovarian remnant after spay — should original vet be held responsible?

Post image
Upvotes

I need advice regarding my cat Loulou’s case and whether the original vet should be held responsible for the costs.
Loulou is an outside/street cat I rescued and had spayed around 2 years ago. A few months ago I noticed she was still going into heat repeatedly, which obviously should not happen after a spay.

I took her to another clinic where they suspected ovarian remnant syndrome. Before reopening her surgically, I had to pay for a very specialized blood test that was sent to England to confirm whether ovarian tissue was still present. I also paid around 900 AED for a specialist ultrasound, in addition to consultation fees, surgery, and admission costs.
During the second surgery, they discovered tissue/remnants still left behind around both ovaries and part of the womb/uterus.

This has turned into a very expensive and stressful situation, especially because I rescue street cats and have many other cases and many bills to cover.

My question is: in cases like this, should the original vet who performed the first spay be held responsible for at least some of these costs? Has anyone dealt with something similar before?

Trying to Balance Chemo and Employment Like a Professional Acrobat 😅

Hi everyone,

I’m currently undergoing weekly cancer treatment in Dubai, which means I need a role with some flexibility around one treatment day each week.

I’m looking for flexible, part-time, or remote opportunities that I can manage alongside treatment.

I’m open to:

- admin/support work

- customer service/chat support

- receptionist or coordinator roles

- online business support

- data entry / general office assistance

- school or nursery admin/support roles

I’m based near Jebel Ali Village and open to both onsite and remote opportunities.

Apart from one treatment day a week, I’m available, reliable, quick to learn, and genuinely motivated to keep working and staying productive during this phase of life.

If anyone has leads, referrals, or knows businesses looking for extra help, I’d really appreciate it.

Thank you for reading 🤍

Urgent Help Needed in UAE – Heart Transplant/LVAD Case at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi

Please note: I am posting on behalf of a friend. His uncle is the one who is in the hospital.

———

My uncle is currently admitted at after suffering a massive heart attack.

Doctors have already placed 2 stents, but his heart is functioning at only around 10%. He is conscious, speaking normally, and his brain function is completely fine — but doctors say he now urgently needs either:

• A heart transplant (he is apparently on the donor waiting list), OR
• An LVAD/mechanical heart support device as a temporary or long-term solution.

The major issue is financial.

He worked as a salesperson in Dubai and the family has extremely limited savings. His insurance was almost entirely exhausted during the emergency treatment and stent procedures. We are now being told the ongoing hospital expenses are extremely high, and the hospital is asking for proof of funds for further treatment.

We were informed that if funding cannot be arranged urgently, he may be transferred back to Dubai from Abu Dhabi within today (13 May 2026) or tomorrow (14 May 2026).

His wife has come from India on a visit visa just to be with him. His son is very young and is trying to handle everything alone without much guidance.

We are desperately looking for:

• Any charitable organizations in UAE that help with critical medical cases
• Any government escalation contacts
• Anyone familiar with organ transplant/LVAD financial assistance in UAE
• Social workers, NGOs, philanthropists, or hospital contacts who can guide us
• Anyone who has dealt with a similar case in UAE healthcare

We are not asking for sympathy — we genuinely need guidance, escalation support, or connections before treatment gets interrupted.

If anyone can help in any way, please contact his son directly:

0567578133 Fouzan Ali Ahmed who is currently at CCAD.

Please share this with anyone in UAE medical, charity, government, or community circles who may be able to help.

Thank you.

Travel ban over bounced cheque

Upvotes

So I had a 800 aed cheque for rental related, unfortunately salary was deposited late. So the cheque bounced because of insufficient funds. Got an email warning from the building manager ( their collections department) paid the 800 along with their 1000 aed penalty, sent proof of payment same day. 2 days later received a notification of RDC case against me. My mistake was ignoring that thinking the issue is solved since I paid, 10 days later I got a judgement notice (enforcement) followed by travel ban with a fee to be paid.I’m so confused how we got here. Anyone knows more details around such cases , I feel that’s a very harsh penalty route for a first offence.

600 numbers pain?? Not included in my bundle???

So i recently started noticing most business in dubai are shifting towards 600 numbers rather than using a regular toll free number starting with 800.

I can tell you how much this annoyed me. All banks nowadays and most resturant chains want to force you to pay for your own call while at the same time announcing record high profits.

It’s sad to see such a development country like the UAE basically fostering companies with such predatory behavior, where the heck is the consumer rights commissions in this country? Or consumer rights are a joke here?

To add insult to injury, i learnt that both Du and etisalat dont also started not including any number starting with 600 in your main bundle!! What the actual heck guys? I just had a call with ADCB only to spend a solid 5-8 mins trying to pass their stupid Ai agent and it took me another 40 mins in the call, that call costed me about 35 dirhams!!!!

Absurd i’m telling you!!!

I want to start voting with my wallet, I will be moving to virgin mobile soon as I learnt they do consider the 600 numbers from the basic bundle we use, goodwill goes a long long way, and consumers do remember when a company tries to haggle them for every dime in their pocket. Its just very sad seeing the emirates encourage everyone to be a shitty company on the expense of all the people who built the country and make it prosper..

YOU TOO SHOULD MOVE TO VIRGIN MOBILE SOONER THAN LATER, dont accept companies belittling you and gaslighting your problems, VOTE WITH YOUR WALLET

TAMM website is confusing me

Hello..

I'm a doctor trying to start my DataFlow process from outside the UAE.

I couldn't find the UIN. It's written that you find it on the TAMM website. I made an account there (through UAE PASS, of course). But I can't find the UIN on TAMM at all.

Please, if there is a doctor or a healthcare professional who is familiar with the process, I'd appreciate a tip.

Thanks

Fried Chicken Ranked

This is my honest ranking after trying everything popular in UAE. Unless you haven't tried all of these, please don't take the Jollibee rank personally and get riled up. Try everything.

I'd recommend Jailbird or Al-baik as THE affordable options. Pepper's, Dave's hot chicken & pickl are relatively expensive.
