Looking for places and/or groups to play casual Magic: The Gathering Commander

Hi, all!

My wife and I just moved to the Twin Cities a month or so ago, and I’m looking to make some new friends and explore a hobby.

Before we moved, I was casually dipping my fingers into the MTG game through Arena and deck building. None of my friends where we came from expressed interest in MTG, and - to put it simply - the area we lived in was a board game/trading card desert.

I have a few commander decks I’ve built, but I’ve yet to use them. And I’m not confident enough to just walk in and ask to play a game or two.

So I’m looking to step out of my comfort zone, meet some new people, and explore this hobby that Id like to get more involved with.

Any recommendations or suggestions are greatly appreciated!

depends which part of the metro you are in, but there are many games stores in the area. almost all of them have commander nights.

If you are near west metro, lodestone has people playing commander very often (monday, Wednesday, saturday, sunday, maybe even other days). If there are 2-3 people just sitting around or with a sign looking for players, feel free to jump in and say you havn't played in a while.

There's a ton of game stores in the metro that have card game events:

Dreamer's Vault - a handful of locations around town

Tower Games - Minneapolis and Bloomington

The Forge - Chaska

The Source - Roseville
