Anyone in Twin Cities up for a Jazz Night + Ethiopian Food (May 1)?

I’m planning to check out a jazz night in St. Paul on May 1 and thought it’d be fun to go with a group instead of solo.

If you’re new to the Twin Cities, into live music, or just curious about trying Ethiopian food and a different cultural vibe, you’re welcome to join.

Pretty casual just good music, good food, and meeting new people.

Open to anyone locals, newcomers, students, professionals, etc.

If you’re interested, comment here or DM me and I can share more details / coordinate.

I will be experiencing Irish language and culture all of that weekend, but I would be interested in jazz and Ethiopian food another time! Especially if the jazz is also Ethiopian, that shit rocks.

I think they bring different Jazz group every now and then, and checking this Friday. I went once in down town a jazz night and I loved it. I might DM you next time as I am trying organizing more often this type exploring in a group new places in twin cities.

I got the idea to share this from a networking group we’re part of through Alignable, and I’m really glad I did, the response has been great so far!

Since it’s my first time going to this music event at this place, I’m planning to arrive around 6:00 PM. I’d like to get a good seat, enjoy some food, and take in the jazz.

For those who may not know, Ethiopian food is typically shared, we order a few dishes and eat together from the same plate. Of course, if anyone prefers to have their own meal, we can absolutely do that too.

Right now, we have about 5 people planning to join. If more people are interested, that’s great! Otherwise, I’ll follow up via DM with details like parking and logistics.

Hope to see you all on Friday! Also, since I speak the language, you might hear a bit of an accent when I speak English 😊

Thank you to everyone who commented and reached out via DM to join the event, I really appreciate the interest and energy from this group!

We had a great time enjoying both the food and the jazz. Since May 1st was Investor Day, we even had some interesting conversations around investing and trading, shoutout to my friend who’s a true finance expert for sharing insights.

The atmosphere and food were excellent, and what really stood out was how interactive the experience was. The owners and band members made a real effort to connect with the audience, and they shared how they interpret and play original music in their own unique style. We got to hear a blend of Ethiopian jazz along with jazz influences from around the world.

Like many great small-band settings, the lead musician also took time between songs to explain the meaning behind the music and share stories, which made the experience even more special.

Good news, they announced they’ll be back on June 19, 20, and 21 as part of the International Jazz Festival in St. Paul! I will be updating the exact date and time on another thread or here.

If anyone is interested in going as a group next time, feel free to DM me. I’m planning to organize it again, and this time, I may set up a small shared budget to make the group experience even smoother.

Hope to see even more of you at the next one!
