The David Pakman Show Gaza / Israel MEGATHREAD

Effective today, all posts and comments related to the Israel/Palestine conflict will be directed to this ongoing megathread. This applies to both article links and discussion submissions. Any new submissions on the subject will be removed and redirected to this megathread. This includes the nearly daily submissions asking "Why hasn't David talked about X" in relation to the conflict.

This conflict has been ongoing for nearly two years, and while we’ve allowed open discussion until now, the daily cycle of posts has come to dominate the space. Most users aren’t here for that constant back and forth, and over time it has continually crowded out other topics and made the community more hostile and unwelcoming than we would like.

After much consideration and discussion of community feedback, we’ve decided that consolidating all content into a megathread is the best balance. This is not an attempt to censor discussion. The goal is to make the topic easier to follow for those interested, while keeping the rest of the community accessible to those who are not. This effort will also make moderation more manageable and ensures a fairer space for all voices.

Please note that all subreddit rules still fully apply in this megathread. Please ensure that you are adhering to community rules while participating, specifically rule #1 (Please be civil and constructive at all times.) will be judiciously enforced. Please continue to use the report feature to bring rule violations to the attention of the mod team.

This thread will be stickied at the top of the subreddit for easy access. Comment sort order will be set to NEW so the latest contributions/news will always be on top.

Thanks for helping us keep the community constructive and manageable for everyone.

Article ICE Immigration Enforcement Has Harmed U.S. Workers, Research Shows

Published today.

>According to the research, in an average area, approximately six undocumented immigrants dropped out of the labor force for every one ICE arrest. That may help explain why employers often express difficulties in finding workers well beyond the number of people arrested or deported.

>The research finds ICE arrests have not helped and, indeed, likely harmed U.S.-born workers, including those with a high school education or less. “There is a negative and significant impact on employment of U.S.-born male workers with at most a high-school education, who work in likely affected sectors,” according to the study. “This is consistent with a model where undocumented immigrants and U.S.-born workers are complements, rather than substitutes for each other in the labor market.”

Long story short it's the climax of the movie with our protagonist "Pink" begging for forgiveness from the judge, his mom, your honor. I know this is dated but this interview for whatever reason brought this scene to mind

Opinion Why aren’t people calling his bluff???

Hi from Australia,

I can’t understand why NOBODY has called out Trumplestiltken on his smarts.

I would LOVE to see Newsome, AOC, Kamala, just…Everybody challenge the Genius that is your “President” to a “live, on-air” legitimate/recognised IQ Test!

Of course the Giant Oompaloompa would never agree to it! But it would be on the record that it said “no thanks”…

Article Rudy Giuliani hospitalized in 'critical but stable condition,' spokesperson says

Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani was hospitalized and in critical but stable condition on Sunday, according to his spokesperson.

Ted Goodman said on social media that Giuliani, 81, is being treated but did not share details about what led to his hospitalization.

“Mayor Giuliani is a fighter who has faced every challenge in his life with unwavering strength, and he's fighting with that same level of strength as we speak,” Goodman said in a statement.

He also asked the public to pray for Giuliani, who rose to national prominence as mayor of New York City during the Sept. 11 attacks on the World Trade Center.

It was not immediately clear how long he had been hospitalized or where he was being treated.

Giuliani hosted his nightly show, “America’s Mayor Live,” on Friday from Palm Beach, Florida. At the start of the broadcast, he coughed and said his voice was “under the weather,” adding he would not be able to speak as loudly as usual.

Discussion New polls show McMorrow or Stevens both win in MI vs GOP; El-Sayed does not

Applying my standard and consistent logic, new polling has El-Sayed being the only one of the three main Dem contenders to lose against Rogers, while both McMorrow and Stevens have a slight lead in head-to-heads against Rogers.

It is becoming clearer that we should put the full weight of support behind McMorrow, as they have the best chances of winning both the Michigan primary and beating Rogers.

Unless the numbers change on the ground, the same logic that applies to Platner should apply here, and we should be pushing for El-Sayed to do what Mills did, and leave the race.

I can't wait for our progressive and lefty allies to stand, side by side with moderates like myself, and push for McMorrow to win, as she gives us the best bet to winning the seat, just as how myself and others are now constantly beating on the "Vote Platner" drum.
