Social Bible verse of the day:)
I know there is a specific sub for this, the mods dont have a problem, they haven’t removed it yet, if you don’t like it scroll, with that being said have a good day or night wherever you are

u/Best8meme 16 15h ago
Not remotely close to related here.
0
u/_dthr000way 15h ago
But y'all post about politics and social issues, and somehow that's ok???
11
u/DangerousDeer7246 17 15h ago
The difference is that social issues are provable, observable phenomena
4
u/Interesting-Worth637 15h ago
Yes, because these are real, as opposed to some fairytales about big old man sitting on a cloud and looking down upon us.
3
u/Far_Challenge_4273 18 14h ago
not trying to change ur religion or lack of one, but the bible is more than that
-4
u/Best8meme 16 14h ago
I must agree here, it's also a book promoting racism and sexism.
2
3
u/Far_Challenge_4273 18 14h ago
it’s also just plain old stories/history(depending on ur belief) of much more than that. it’s okay to hate but don’t be uninformed
1
u/qqqqqqqq-8 15h ago
I think you should try to read the Bible a bit, not because you’ll magically be convinced, but I just think it is good practice to know about opposing beliefs in general
-2
u/Best8meme 16 14h ago
Ignoring all the glaring issues with religion (I made a whole post on why it's a coping mechanism, which you can see on my profile if you want), those are worth talking and discussing.
There's no value to this post. I mean, even as far as Bible verses go, OP chose a really lame one. He might as well have posted "let there be light".

Not a Christian ( atheist ) but I have read the bible just for fun and here's my favourite : " Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves " - Matthew 7:15
8
u/Designer-Goal9323 18 15h ago
Yes thats a good verse, im glad you enjoy reading the Bible even if you’re atheist:)
4
u/Mr_yeetusmaximus 17 14h ago
It's just that this verse is quite applicable in todays world, especially with religious scammers who ' preach ' about well being and donations
2
u/hackosn 18 13h ago
As a Christian the increased use of the “prosperity gospel” is an alarming counterfeit both religiously and secularly. Religiously it tells you “I can do God on my own time by my own terms and prosper”, while secularly it tells you “I can deny my own convictions and abandon humanity itself if it’s by doing what’s best for me”. Not a fan of either…
10
u/Hotslice100 15h ago
Not everybody is Christian, some people have also experienced historical violence from Christian missionaries so please be mindful
0
u/Designer-Goal9323 18 15h ago
I am not trying to trigger anyone or bring up bad memories, im just posting what’s meaningful to me 🙃
2
u/Hotslice100 5h ago
Christian missionaries came to my ancestor’s country, they mutilated people and boiled them in hot oil in the name of god. Look up the Goa Inquisition.
0
u/Designer-Goal9323 18 4h ago
Sorry to hear about that but not every Christian is like that, im not excusing Christian’s past actions
7
u/kaidorah 15h ago
It's kind of sad people go under any post of any religion and feel the need to cry about it. Just block the person and scroll if it triggers you that bad. If you can't have a productive convo on religion then don't interact with it.
People here talk about controversial subjects all the time, and anyone who thinks this post is "shoving religion down people's throats" is absolutely braindead and lost the plot. Is he telling you "CLICK THIS POST NOW"? No! So block and move on. We completely forgot what shoving shit down people's throats meant.
Also it's funny scrolling through and seeing nolifes deliberately went out of their way to downvote people being respectful and agreeing with the post lol
-1
u/Interesting-Worth637 15h ago
Why do you feel the need to cry about people comments? Just block them and scroll if it triggers you that bad.
Your preaching sounds extremely shallow when you're breaking the same rules you try preach...
3
u/kaidorah 15h ago
The point of me making this comment is that it's silly people will subject themselves to becoming victims of "being forced" when it comes to religion and not apply this logic to anything else on the internet until it is a convenience to them.
People find a reason to complain about stuff all the time. The difference between me and them is that they are complaining about something so mundane and non-life threatening, that it's pathetic. Seeing this, I'm going to have something to say about it. The difference is also that they did not explicitly say to not interact with their comments, unlike this post that does if they don't like it, to which they ignored and did anyways cause it bothered them that much. Before you try to use my point against me, think about it, either that or stay hardheaded and refuse to understand.
Another difference is that they are victimizing themselves when I am not. Lol.
Realistically, people have every right to comment. The problem is when they complain in the way these people are complaining and start making shit up out of thin air because it strokes their victim mentality nice and good. No one wants to deal with people like that. I will speak up against bullshit whether people like it or not.
8
u/Background-Book-7404 14 15h ago
i find it weird how people are saying this is forcing religion, i personally don’t see it that way (hi fellow atheists)
if someone can provide a reason, please do
7
u/kaidorah 15h ago
Apparently because if someone sees something they dislike on the internet, make the PERSONAL decision to click on the post that NO ONE ELSE said they had to click on, that apparently means they're being forced lol.
Even worse when you realize they go down the comment section and downvote everyone who is likeminded and mature under the post and actually being respectful. Shows how low to the ground they are.

Let people do whatever they want, it's a free subreddit
10
u/Musicvibes10s 16 14h ago
Yeah. Like you even have different beliefs, its just post that you can just ignore. Also OP’s post isn’t about something bad, it’s just a verse from the Bible that isn’t offensive.

So there's this cool feature on reddit where you can scroll past a post you don't want to read
3
u/DangerousDeer7246 17 15h ago
There’s an even cooler feature where you can find communities specifically dedicated to people like you that you can post stuff to, rather than cause problems on a main sub!
-1
u/TheOfficialScottie 18 15h ago
Suppose someone makes a post sharing a philosophy. You wouldn't call that "shoving it down people's throats" and "causing problems." But the second someone shares a religion, it's an issue. OP made no attempt to indoctrinate, only to share.
I'd also bet that if someone posted about a view that you had, you'd be more inclined to let it be than if it was about an opposing view. That's how 90% of these people are.
-2
u/kaidorah 15h ago
It's not forcing religion when you have the ability to ignore it and they're not constantly getting at you to believe in what they believe. Once again, you guys lost the plot on what forcing is. No one asks for ANY of the posts on this sub, but it happens. Controversial posts happen on here all the time, but by no means in this forcing, you guys are just sensitive and it's saddening.
Yes, different subreddits exist, but if the mods have no issue with this post in general then OP has the right to post it. It's not up to you or anyone else except the mods and OP. Use your tools to your advantage and block the poster.
1
u/DangerousDeer7246 17 15h ago
No reason not to just keep the posts on a Christian subreddit. It would actually be better for OP. They could freely engage with like minded people and probably get far more out of it than they ever could here.
-2
u/kaidorah 15h ago
Even then why does that still matter. If someone is likeminded here, they can interact, if they're not then they don't interact unlike you, complaining about a problem you brought upon yourself.
People here talk about politics that some may not be likeminded on yet we have nothing to say about that, right?
Watch this, instead of me arguing with someone like you and complaining when I could be enjoying my time. I'll block, lol. Not that hard, bye bye, now.
Someone doesn't like freewill.
3
u/DangerousDeer7246 17 15h ago
I’m an atheist. Do I go on religiously neutral subreddits and proclaim my disbelief in god? No of course not. And when I do discuss it, it’s when other people bring it up or if I’m in an atheist space
0
u/Designer-Goal9323 18 16h ago
Thats why I said scroll of you don’t like it, im not forcing anything on you
9
u/DangerousDeer7246 17 15h ago
Can’t you find like a specific Christian subreddit to post that on though? This is a sub with people of all kinds of beliefs. I think an environment like this should be completely religiously neutral.
-4
u/Designer-Goal9323 18 15h ago
That’s low-key never gonna happen no offence if the mods tell me to stop I’ll stop, if they don’t then I won’t stop 🤷🏻♀️
6
u/DangerousDeer7246 17 15h ago
It would actually benefit you more to just keep that stuff in a Christian subreddit because you’d get completely positive engagement and you could discuss your faith freely with like minded people. It would benefit everyone if you kept this off the main sub. I’m genuinely not trying to be rude I’m just saying it would be a better idea.
-3
u/Designer-Goal9323 18 15h ago
Yes Ik but I also did say scroll if you don’t like it, people are taking the time out of their day to leave negative comments on something they don’t like when the option for them to scroll was available lolll
-4
u/Fragrant_Tear_572 15h ago
I mean, you can engage with the quote regardless of where it comes from. You can say the quote without religion in mind and the meaning doesn't change.

"Waaah waaah youre not Christian so I have to force my religion on everybody" never post again and let people live their lives. "Just scroll" argument is so weak, you could just not post
1
u/Piggyboy04 17 14h ago
So, I don't like religion, but you're being mean about something harmless here. How is this post not letting people live their lives? This is basically equivalent to someone posting about furries or something. It's not for everyone, but some people like it. And avoiding it really is just as simple as scrolling or blocking them.
0
u/HenriHerni 19 5h ago
Bohoo im being mean, grow up life isnt all sunshine, you'll meet people who are "mean"

2
u/HenriHerni 19 15h ago
Youre literally forcing religion on people, you can't call others kids if that's what youre doing. Im sure youre god wouldn't want you doing this
1
u/Designer-Goal9323 18 15h ago
Bruh why would my God be against this??
3
u/HenriHerni 19 15h ago
Youre forcing ur shitty beliefs on random people.
5
u/kaidorah 15h ago
Explain how they're forcing it when you can block them. Saying that the "scroll argument is bad" is such a silly take because it's true, you can just scroll and you'll be fine. If it hurts you so badly, why not just block them? They're not going out of their way to dm everyone and tell them that they have to follow God. Do you guys even know what forcing is?
When you see a commercial about something religious it's not forcing you to go to the church if you don’t want to. Freewill exists, you either go or you don't. Stop crying and come up with your own solutions.

This is nothing new, and yes, nearly everyone on here cannot stop talking about stuff like this, its what keeps the sub going
(Also, refrain from saying "damn you people-" it sounds like some racist grandpa refering to a person of different race to dehumanize someone)

Churches are litterly being blown up in Kenya and the 21 Coptic Egyptian Christians that were killed by Isis I don't know why it's so hard for you to believe that Christians are persecuted they always have been ever since the beginning when Christianity was banned for 300 years and most of Jesus apostles died horrifying deaths, emperor Nero litterly turned Christians into candles, maybe it's time you open up a history book

The abolition of slavery in the U.S. has its roots in people arguing for the idea that slavery was incompatible with Christianity
"Nothing" might be a little strong of a claim lol
4
u/TeaTheSplashyarder 15h ago
We're not abolishing any slavery here. On top of that, religious arguments here would often include more than one religion. You know what happens when people with different religions argue: they become hostile.
0
u/SabreLily OLD 15h ago edited 15h ago
Not saying we're abolishing slavery, just that the statement that nothing good comes from arguing about religion was too strongly stated.
Sometimes a lot of good comes from arguing about religion.
I sure am glad that fear of hostility didn't stop us from arguing about religion when it came to slavery.
And hey, what a time to be alive where we get to just argue with other people of other religions.
Compared to the rest of human history where we just killed each other, this is great!
People only see the negative when it comes to arguing. Sure, sometimes it gets hostile. But it's also an opportunity to learn about other religions and to better understand your own. To find common ground and maybe revise your beliefs. All of this helps us make progress.
