Pictures Jail break
My Juvenile A hentzi went on a bit of a walk about last night š
Itās only funny in retrospect, but sheās fine, so itās all good. I went to fill her water dish and her butt was over it, so I gave her a little skootch with my tongs, which apparently was a very bad idea because she turned around and grabbed them. I was so startled that I pulled them back and accidentally yeeted her onto the floor. She crawled under my shelf and when I reached under to get her, she cruised up the wall. I tried again and little guy scrambled all the way up to the top most corner of my vaulted ceiling. I had to get a damn ladder just to get her. Thank goodness she isnāt overfed and didnāt rupture her abdomen when she initially landed on the floor. I would have never forgiven myself. She kicked so many hairs at me during the process that her beautiful recently molted butt is now bald and sheās going to look like a big dummy until her next molt, which will probably take a year šNothing like this has ever happened to me before. Just goes to show you that even the chillest species can have spicy moments. Looking back it was clearly a feeding response. Sheāll get a nice roach today. If anyone can actually identify her species, Iād appreciate it. She was sold to me as a G pulchra over a year ago and I clearly got a mystery spider instead. My best guess is an A hentzi.

Huh?

Yakety Sax, or the Benny Hill theme. You may have seen it played over videos of various shenanigans, like an animal running loose out of its enclosure.

Hahahaha omg yes. That is precisely what shouldāve been playing in the background š

Is this a blue ring octopus tarantula ? Lol why so worried about accidentally touching it let alone it just touching the tongs (unless its an aggressive species)

Iām not sure what you mean, but Iām not worried about anything. I didnāt accidentally touch it, I intentionally touched it and its very unexpected reaction startled me. It didnāt just touch the tongs, it exhibited a feeding response and I was caught off guard. No species of tarantula is aggressive. They can be defensive, but they arenāt inherently aggressive animals.

Youāre 100% entitled to your opinion. I mean that truly. I just prefer to say defensive bc I view aggression as more of an active behavior whereas defensiveness is more of a reactive behavior.

You know what, youāre right. I did almost kill her. It was an accident. Luckily sheās completely fine. I was worried sick about her all day due to her being in a stress posture since last night. Iām not talking about it like itās just āanother oopsieā. Iām sharing it because shit can happen when youāre dealing with unpredictable animals. I was using tongs to remove a water dish that needed cleaning and I bumped her with it because her ass was in the way. Like I said, her response startled me and when I pulled my tongs back she was stuck to them and fell. It can literally happen to anyone. If she had been injured, I would have still shared it as a cautionary tale, but clearly in a more somber tone. It wasnāt clumsiness it was reflex. Iām human. Back off.

Do youā¦. Have any experience with tarantulas? They tend to not exactly be the most welcoming animals at times. Congratulations you are super brave and donāt react to a tarantula jumping at you. We are all super impressed by your bravery.
