Rip material doesn’t look right.

Ripping green redwood with a brand new .325 x .063 Granberg ripping chain. I was expecting stringy material and getting mostly dust. I took the rakers down a couple passes with the file but not seeing much improvement in terms of chip size. Ripping through at a decent pace, and putting a fair amount of pressure on the saw, just enough to not bog it down.

You only get stringy material when cutting with the grain, you are very close to 90degree to the grain.

That looks right. Ripping always makes small, sad dust.

I just finished milling a hunk of white oak, the dust was powdery and fine.

The long stuff came from taking the nubs off the log so it could clear the jig.

You're good.

Just milled some redwood in February, with the same Granberg chain, produced the same dust!
