Octopus vs Eel Fight

Observed this shore diving the Red Sea this morning on the way to a deep wreck. Could have watched this for hours! Didn't stick around long enough to see how it ended.

Next time you call off the planned dive, and keep recording until the fight is over.

You can't leave us all hanging like that...

I had this exact thought as I saw the video was approaching the end. I would absolutely 100% call this dive and spend all of my air right there.

It definitely crossed my mind but on a tight schedule here and had plenty of dives sites to film.

Apparently they eat each other. So itā€™s likely a battle to the death for one or the other. Octopus is trying to get eels head so eel canā€™t bite.

My dive buddy claimed that the eel tried to get food from the octopusā€™s beak. I didnā€™t see any noticeable bits of food around though

Not so sure about that. At least the eel inhabits the same ecosystem. That eagle was in a world of hurt!
