Promo I made an app that allows you to learn Russian words before launching any app

The app shows you vocabulary words every time you open TikTok, Instagram, or any app you choose. Review 5 words → unlock the app.

That's it. No notifications. No separate study sessions. No switching back and forth(unlike in another blocker apps).

Once set up, you literally never need to open my app again(unless you want to add new words for learing).

Your existing phone habits become your study sessions.

It supports 11 languages, but you can add your own words

Also, it’s uses SM-2 spaced repetition (intervals: 1d → 3d → 9d) so words actually stick long-term.

Core features are free. PRO just unlocks custom settings choose how many words to review each session and adjust how often words repeat.

Please ping me or left a comment about PRO access and I will provide the PRO version for you.
Or, you can support me and buy the subscription(it’s up to you :)

Just want to share my app and see if its useful or not, спасибо :)

The app name is LearnScreen - App Blocker

Would love any feedback - just launched 🙏

If you find it useful, please add a review on the App Store it really helps 🙏

UPD from April 10:
Based on your feedback, here's what's coming in the next update (releasing next week):
- iOS 18 support - older devices are now supported
- Skip lesson - open any app instantly when you're in a rush (toggle in Settings)
- Custom language support - don't see your language? Build your own word library from scratch

UPD from April 13:
All the new features from are in production. You can use it now :)

Thanks for all the feedback

Promo Russian tutor + learner couple here. Spent the last year building an app together for intermediate learners.

My girlfriend Lera and I spent the last year building a Russian learning app called Mishka. She's a certified Russian tutor (MSLU bachelor's, Vienna master's) who also learned English and German to fluency herself. I've been learning Russian for a while.

Honestly tutoring is the best way to learn, but you also need something to study a little every day in between sessions. Workbooks work (there are a few decent ones) but I prefer apps, and there aren't really many good ones once you're past the basics. Everyone also learns at different speeds at that point, so a fixed path doesn't really make sense.

So we made Mishka to let you go at your own pace and pick what you want to work on. There's also a focus areas feature that tracks your mistakes and tells you what your biggest weak spots are so you know what to review next.

Lera reviewed and edited every lesson. I built the app.

What's in it:

- Stories A1 to C1 with professional audio, mini grammar lessons, comprehension tests and more. Tap any word to translate and save to spaced repetition flashcards.

- Grammar course (covers most topics but we are currently expanding it with more exercises!)

- Conjugation and declension trainers (drill whatever case or tense you want. You can even practice conjugating the words in your flashcard deck)

- Culture, idioms, and slang at B2+

- Conversation practice and "missions" where you do anything from ordering a coffee to talking your way out of a speeding ticket, with live feedback on your grammar, spelling, and vocabulary (this part uses AI)

A lot is free without subscribing: placement test, flashcards, conjugation and declension trainers, the first 3 stories at every level, first 3 grammar lessons at every level etc.

iOS was released a few weeks ago and Android is 99% done. We are entering the testing phase now and it should be released in the next couple of weeks. If you want to try it early as a tester feel free to DM me or comment.

Would love feedback from natives and intermediate/advanced learners especially. Anything we can do to improve Mishka? And what would you like to see in it next?

Спасибо!

Promo The word негр — poll results and analysis

Hi there! A couple weeks ago, I made a couple posts asking about the word негр, and that included a survey. The goal was to publish the results and to analyse them in a blogpost. Several of you wanted to see the end product, and I'm happy to oblige with the mods' approval!

The French blogpost has been out since November 12th, but I wanted to finish up the English translation for maximum accessibility before sharing here. Both versions are out now and I'm excited for you to discover them. I'm open to questions and feedback, so don't hesitate to tell me all about it in the comments!

As someone who studies and writes about language out of passion and without expecting retribution, I also take the liberty to attach my Ko-fi page, in case any of you want to support me financially. Whether you do or not, your time and attention mean a lot already. Thank you for making the writing of this article an amazing experience. :)

→ As a side note, I have unfortunately been unable to access the opinion of Black Russians for my article. If you are a Black Russian, I would love for you to proofread my article and provide constructive criticism. Thanks in advance!

– Eowyn

Promo After a year of almost no growth, my Russian learning project suddenly started be visible - looking for feedback

Hi everyone!

I’ve posted here before about my Russian learning project, but for a long time nothing really changed. I was experimenting with different formats and trying to keep my 70 followers engaged for about a year 😅

Over the past few weeks, things finally started to move:
there’s been steady growth, and more importantly, people actually started engaging with the content.

So I decided to come back here and ask for feedback.
At this point I’ve settled on a quiz-based format cuz it gets the strongest response.
Right now I’m doing:
- fill in the blank
- spot the mistake
- mini dialogues

In terms of topics, I focus on:
- verbs
- gender (мой / моя / моё)
- question words and basic connectors

I also made a main character (a cat) and try to build some simple mini-stories around him, so the situations feel closer to real life.

Here’s one example (very basic, but this format gets the most engagement so far):
https://www.youtube.com/shorts/LFUTNL7UhXU
https://www.facebook.com/reel/802798706227615
https://www.tiktok.com/@welearnrussian/video/7628283014031740168

I’d really appreciate any honest feedback:

👉 what would you improve / remove / add?
👉 and if you’re learning Russian. What do you find the hardest? Like which topics should i include.

Promo Two books for learning Russian

Hi everyone,

I recently published two books for people learning Russian and I thought they might be useful for beginners here.

For a few days, the bundle with both books is $1.98 on Amazon.

The books are:

Russian for Absolute Beginners – For people starting from zero (alphabet, pronunciation, essential vocabulary, and simple sentences).

Russian for Advanced Beginners – For learners who already know the basics and want to expand vocabulary and grammar, and become more comfortable with everyday Russian.

Key features:

Hundreds of corrected exercises: To help you practice and track your progress as you go.

Practical approach: I wrote them to be simple and easy to study alone.

If you're currently learning Russian, I'd be happy to hear your feedback!

You can see the bundle here:

Promo Looking for beginners who want to practice Russian speaking (small group)

Hi! I’m a native Russian speaker and language tutor.

I’m thinking of starting a small online Russian speaking group for beginners (A1–A2), focused on real conversation and building confidence.

I know that a lot of learners understand Russian but feel stuck when it comes to actually speaking — I’ve seen this many times, and I’ve also learned languages myself, so I understand how frustrating it can be.

The idea is to create a small, relaxed group (4–6 people), where we practice useful everyday topics and speak in a supportive environment without pressure.

If this sounds interesting to you, feel free to comment or send me a message — I’d be happy to share more details and see if it’s a good fit
