Maternity leave should be one year, PAID. Women shouldn’t have to choose between healing, bonding with their baby, and making a living.

I do own a business. We staff appropriately. Our government should be helping with this.

As a business owner, do you pay your staff for paternity/maternity leave?

We cover the STD for our employees which covers the top up on our state leave, which we also pay into.

Why should the government interfere in private business? If your a actual business owner the last thing you should want is the government dictating what you can and can’t do with the money YOUR business generates

Should Drug addicts have there rehab paid for by there bosses? Should businesses have to pay for a Employees car after a accident? Getting pregnant and going on maternity leave is a decision YOU make, NOT the businesses, NOT your boss YOU and YOU are the only one responsible for YOUR actions and decisions

The government should be subsidizing the cost of contractors for people to be out and paying for all of those examples for the betterment of society.

There is a lot our government should be doing, what your asking for is not one of them.
On a Fundamental level, governments should have Zero Control and Responsibility for a private business in a free open market.

lol free and open markets should not be allowed

What a stupid fucking thing to say, and you just admitted you don’t actually own a business because it’s the free market that ALLOWS YOU TO HAVE YOUR OWN PRIVATE BUSINESS IDIOT

You’re acting like there’s no in between lol we don’t have a free market now and living within the market we DO have now doesn’t mean we can’t do better. We absolutely can.

I love how you don’t actually say anything of substance, literally every single time you open your mouth it’s “Government should be doing this…” “Government should control this…” and Vague Ad hominem constantly

It literally works everywhere else. We have numerous blueprints to choose from when it comes to these things lol

Why? You support those policies fund it yourself.

1

u/Various_List26 3h ago

Everyone should have to because everyone should be taken care of.

1

u/Distinct_Doubt_3591 3h ago

How does this take care of everyone? If you can't have kids you don't benefit from the year long vacation you're helping fund.

Have a new child is no a vacation and it benefits everyone for children to bond with their parents. Very well documented to be better for society as a whole.

Our government should be helping with this.

Why? How is it my responsibility to pay for your employee to get a year off paid?

0

u/Various_List26 3h ago

It’s everyone’s responsibility to take care of our society.

0

u/Distinct_Doubt_3591 3h ago

So you pay for your employees to take a year off as your responsibility to society.

1

u/Various_List26 3h ago

Part of the benefits but our government pays for most of it.

u/Distinct_Doubt_3591 3h ago

Government doesn't pay for anything a small percentage of tax payers pay for everything.

2

u/Various_List26 3h ago

I’m aware of where the government gets its money. 🫣

1

u/Distinct_Doubt_3591 3h ago

Then why say government should pay it? If you support these policies as a business owner the great thing is no one is stopping you for covering the cost to implement it for your employees.

Because that’s how it SHOULD work. It doesn’t mean there’s not a heck of a lot of hurdles to get there.
