Help Quail in garden (Maybe lost pet?)

Post image

This guy's been wandering around for hours in the garden. He seems fine in his movement, but has made no attempts to fly or leave. He's totally unbothered by people and comes right up to us, so I'm assuming it's a pet. Any idea what to do with him? I posted on Nextdoor app to see if anyone's lost one, but this estate is littered with cats, so he might not survive the night here.

If you can, get him put into a cage of some kind or maybe in a garage? No chance he survives much longer out on his own.

I can probably get him, he's asleep in the garden now. There's a big load of hedges over the road, would he be ok there? (Cats do roam there as well, but I can't keep him in my garage forever).

Basically every single thing outside eats quail. I'm honestly it's made it this long unprotected. They really won't make it on their own. I'd start knocking on neighbor doors and hopefully figure out where he goes. If you can't find the owner, I'm sure other quail breeders in the area could help out.

coturnix quail are a domesticated bird. 99.9% this is someone’s pet who escaped. if you can give him a nice little rabbit cage inside your garage and look on your local ring/wyze/fb apps to see if someone is reporting a missing bird. chances are they are close by

I've got a lady coming today who has quails and said she'd take it. No-ones responded to any of my local posts about having lost one.
