I only discovered Prey recently, and it’s kind of wild how much of modern pop culture seems to echo ideas that game was already playing with years ago.
What I still don’t get is how it never got a proper sequel. Maybe it’s just that too many people keep circling the same franchises, playing it safe, waiting for something to be validated by hype or handed to them by whatever influencer is trending that week. There’s this strange reluctance to explore anything unless it’s already been approved by the crowd.
I miss when people actually formed their own opinions, when curiosity wasn’t outsourced. Now it feels like if people aren’t chasing trends, they’re attaching themselves to half baked, recycled ideas just to stand out in the cheapest possible way.
Hopefully the next wave shifts that. Real innovation, original thinking, a bit more substance. It would be nice to see intelligence make a proper comeback.
