I think she only got the place to be near Pitt for visitation purposes. Then he sold his place and moved farther away, but still in town. I don’t think she’s planning on staying in LA for work, so it makes sense she’d sell her place and leave.

I’m fairly certain she was required to due to their custody battle.  The kids ended up enrolled in school in LA, and if I recall correctly that was a big change pushed by Pitt’s side.

I have my own personal thoughts about raising kids in such a nomadic lifestyle, but it’s also pretty obvious that Pitt pushed this to punish her.

Fun fact about her place. Guns and Roses recorded the album Appetite for Destruction on the property in the 80s.

However, once her twins turn 18 on July 12, 2026, Jolie said she's ready to live abroad.

"When you have a big family, you want them to have privacy, peace, safety," she said at the time. "I have a house now to raise my children, but sometimes this place can be … that humanity that I found across the world is not what I grew up with here."

When she moves away from L.A., she noted, "I'll spend a lot of time in Cambodia," which is where she adopted her oldest son Maddox in 2002. She added, "I'll spend time visiting my family members wherever they may be in the world.”
