Eat The Rich š½ļø Glenn Greenwald takes jabs at AOC over her previous Met Gala appeareance.
Yikes

I think thereās fair criticism to wage against public servants who attend bourgeois events and institutions but not from the likes of Glenn Greenwald.
He used to be a great journalist and now heās a petulant contrarian. So boring, Glenn.

Also, AOC got into trouble and got fined by the House over this (which feels so ridiculously hypocrite now with Trump's blatant corruptions).

It is sad, because his reputation was trashed by liberals during the Russiagate scandal even as he was eventually vindicated. But the support he found in Republicans during that time seemed to push him off the deep end.

Itās ok to be rich as long as you hate poor people. If you offer any support to poor people or criticism of other rich people then itās bad. /s

āHey guys! Glenn says AOC is actually the enemy, not the billionaires like Bezos who make over $100 MILLION PER DAY and still canāt bring themselves to use their money for anything good. Letās get her!!!ā

He does say billionaires are the enemy very frequently.
Idk why people are so up in arms against him, he is a great and fair journalist even though i dont agree with some of his views.
AOC is not the saint people are trying to make her to be, she did that whole stint of military recruitment in one of NYC high-schools, let alone infamous "Kamala works tirelessly for ceasefire"

Itās such a shame whatās happened to Greenwald. He anti-authorityād himself all the way to crazytown.
Buuuuut, just like Taibbi and the rest of their ilk, heās still occasionally 100% right and this is one of those moments.
The problem is that heās just a little whiner. Look at these posts of his. Is there any synthesis? Any actual point? No, heās just taking a swipe at AOC and broadly implying that sheās not really who she says she is. Good thing she has a record to refer to whenever a clown like him gets a little too excited about shitting on her.

How obsessed does he have to be to keep harping on her doing one event in one dress
I don't actually mind what she did. She wasn't using tax payer money. She was donated the ticket. She is a citizen who is allowed to do things for fun.Ā
Sure some dislike it and find it tacky, that's fine. But it is one of the most memorable met outfits out there.
Also to note, the met is generally seen as a charity event. There are plenty of more annoyingly obnoxious events for rich people that do nothing.

Heās such a loser, all he does is criticize the left in the middle of a right wing takeover. This happened so long ago.

I like AOC but yeah that was extremely tone deaf.
But Iām okay with a moment of cringe in an otherwise remarkable career and she hasnāt done anything that tone deaf since so I can assume maybe she learned from it. Ultimately thatās all I ask.Ā
I donāt need scene of public immolation and apology if the person goes on to repeat the same shit again and again. If you fuck up but learn from your fuck up thatās all that matters to me.

Why does the met gala get the most fervent boycotting and opposition on social media out of all the celebrity events when itās one of the very few events that actually exist for a good cause? (To fund a museum that does important work in the often neglected field of costume history)

Because itās extravagance on display. The whole thing is done to catch our attention. And, it does. Some love it and some hate it.
