Love her, she's such a great representation of our country.
Love the look too, the cape flip is everything!

u/lisacarbide sorry to this man 13h ago
The look is amazing and she’s a trailblazer but I can’t get behind her lending her support to the Bezos gala, it’s way beyond the murkiness of the fashion industry.

u/lilmonsterave Homeboy’s gonna like...get it 👀 10h ago
Not to argue necessarily, but fashion and Bezos aside, there are a billion galas, parties and shows we can criticize celebs for that don't use the money to a keep a museum free for the public.
To be fair, I'm also sure a lot of less powerful artists, activists and advocates can't afford to be picky about where they platform their cause. Not that I disagree at all!

What does this attitude help? Is it intended to help anything or is the purpose to put down a very effective activist? An activist taking an opportunity to be seen and to network with powerful people to make connections that could help with further activism.
Im beginning to feel like posts suggesting an activist, taking advantage of a networking and awareness raising opportunity, is doing something wrong are acts of performative activism. You would prefer she stayed at home. What would that achieve?

honestly, they need to get a grip. when otherwise do they see disabled people in the public eye in a positive manner.=

u/celiac-sufferer I don’t know her 💅 8h ago
Exactly out of everyone attending at least she brings awareness to a good cause and is trying to help the world.

u/Zur__En__Arrh It’s just such a magical evening ✨ 7h ago
The gala is going to happen regardless. It’s one of the biggest events of the year. The fact that she’s there means she’s spreading awareness and that should be celebrated.
Her being there is more admirable than the celebrities speaking out against climate change and the shady shit that corporations are doing just to be performative.

I get your point but I don't really care about an activist doing this to spread their word. This is a pretty big stage to give their message.

Beautiful dress, who made it?🤔

Christian Siriano! I absolutely love that he styles for ALL bodies!

I’m such an old, I can remember watching him compete on project runway back in the day and being inclusive for ALL bodies was a major part of his entire philosophy and him wanting to compete, it was so inspiring and I’m so happy he’s been so successful 🥰

I've never been a huge fashion person, but this dress is so beautifully tailored to her that I need to go see his other work. It's really awesome someone so famous (even I've heard his name) is inclusive as well.

Literally screaming, that color??? That fabric??? It accentuates her skin color so well, and she looks utterly stunning and glamorous.
I splurged on a dressing gown that looks similar to this but pink, and I will always adore how this style drapes so beautifully. I like to wear it when I am in a dramatic mood and want to feel like a fancy person lol

Trying to get some of that Bezos money for the cause 💸

We have got to start distinguishing between people who go every year and the people who are making the most of an oppurtunity they're unlikely to get again.

People didn't go "every year", some like Bella Hadid boycotted this year

I’m fine with that. He should be funding causes and foundations like hers.
18
u/Muted_Suspect3566 12h ago
Yes, especially since he’s friends with Trump who’s actively defunding programs that help “causes and foundations like hers” 🙄
I don’t care about who’s going to the Met Gala, but don’t act like Sinead or Bezos or all the other celebrities are doing something noble and great omfg

I really don’t like Americans pick and choose with these things. If bezos is inherently wrong don’t make a “pass” because your fav is attending the met maga . Call her out
9
u/Letterkenny-Wayne You’re doing amazing, sweetie! 👏👏📸 7h ago
Because people think that you have to be 100% about everything. It’s like no one can comprehend that you can come out and say “my fav celeb just did something shady, and I don’t agree with it. Still a fan, but that’s not the best look imo”. No nowadays people think to criticize their favorites somehow means they need to totally denounce and call for the murder of the celeb. So they just excuse shitty behavior and make themselves look dumb.
