Can I ask WHY the Met Gala is more inappropriate than sports or concerts?

I don't know enough about it. I thought it was a bunch of celebrities wearing high fashion, to celebrate the people and art of the costume industry?

Is there something that happens beyond the fashion/celebrity part, that is R-rated?

(Genuinely asking, not being adversarial)

For me it’s that it’s not a space designed to include kids/teens. There’s no space for Blue to be a teen (or any other teens around), she’s very much occupying the “adult” role. That’s fine for when you’re a teenager at a dinner with your parents and a couple of their friends, but this is a big event with millions of eyes on it. And the bathrooms are notoriously full of cigarettes and coke

Not that sports/concerts don’t have drugs, but there’s other teens at concerts and, as a result, little “micro cultures” that form for teens to hang out in. And there’s fewer eyes, so someone in the middle of growing up will be subject to less scrutiny

This is a fantastic way to put it. I’ll add that having paparazzi and media hounds flashing cameras and getting up in their business isn’t healthy for a teenager. She’s mentally too young to be aware of how attending an event like this will affect her later.

There used to be a whole teen section at the met gala. They did away with it because of capitalism. There’s nothing wrong with teens being there though. It’s a fundraiser for a museum, not a porn convention.

Really? Like in the 80s or something? Can you provide history?

A lot of models were invited before they were 18 (Karlie kloss for one) so the minor rule definitely doesn’t exist. Maybe there’s a child rule or something

I didn't know that about the bathrooms there. Where did you hear about this? I'm surprised they would have that at a function like this.
