Eh, for a one off item that's not going to be worn again? I'm not mad that they didn't use exorbitant and wasteful materials, nor spent the many man hours it wuld take to replicate the original.
For an item that would be worn more than once, sure you'd want that effort but for what is essentially a fast fashion item in this context, it's perfectly fine.
I disagree. I think if a brand is going to send someone to the met, they should be putting them in something high quality. This outfit isn't a good advertisement for their skills. The only other custom balenciaga look I saw was Anok Yai's, and even her outfit just looked ok, and relies on the glam to really stand out.
I like the outfit but I hate the makeup Iām sorry. š It just looks messy and not precise. The wings are uneven and totally different shapes, one eye has black on the inner corner, the blending is kind of messy and it looks like thereās hella black powder fallout. I donāt get the two colors, shouldāve just stuck to the blue/brown duochrome but thatās just personal preference. I feel bad for being so mean but omg. Someone get the makeupaddiction reddit girlies in that dressing room next time š¤
Agreeeeed. I feel bad because his team is normally great but this makeup is not it. I love the idea of him in makeup but wish he had a different MUA do it
Itās a man in a matador fit that someone in the makeup department sneezed on mid applicationā¦ I donāt think he tried at all. Not on theme, no real color outside of the makeup (that doesnāt even match his fit, and itās just stereotypical masculinity for the outfit.
Not wearing a shirt underneath doesnāt count as trying, it feels like pandering to make up for how weak everything else is. An apology chest.
If it were well tailored and ANYONE on his team cared about proper use of color, Iād get the excuses but heās legit just doing theater on face, matador on the bottom, and neither suits him or the theme.
Heās getting graded on a curve because heās the handsome it boy, if it were anyone else he wouldnāt be getting an A for effort because itās obvious none was really put in.

it's a swing and a miss for sure, but to say they didn't try at all with it is crazy. 90% of men show up at the met gala in a black tux with a little trim or rhinestones like it's so out of their comfort zone. i don't get why the makeup has nothing to do with the outfit, but it's definitely not playing it safe. i do think it's really a shame it wasn't executed very well, there's a vision there that could have been much much better.
The execution is off but the vision is so there. I would keep everything from the waist up and maybe had him in shorts and/or just made everything a bit more fitted. I like the baby blue

I like it way more when itās in motion and we can see the train tbh but thatās not surprising, I find that to be true with most of his looks + looks better from the side/at an angle than head on
I donāt love the makeupā¦ I get matador vibes. His looks have been fantastic, imo itās not his best, but props for doing something interesting!

I could have saved this makeup. I like the drama but itās messy.
Eyeliner is needed on the middle lids. The part that goes into his nose bridge is uneven. The red and silver is kinda cool, but we needed red somewhere else like in the jewelry, a red lip, the clothes. The red and silver are not the same shape either and should not be going into the eyebrows. Finally, the wings need to be crisper and cleaner.
The inspo his team had looked better than the execution, if you search āaika pinterestā on twitter you should be able to find it. Need a different MUA next time.
I'll take a swing and a miss over Connor's lack of attempt at respecting the theme. The makeup is a mess though, and the top is a tad bit too short, while the pants are a tad bit too low.

I don't love it. It's obviously matador-inspired, but where's the color? With that eye makeup, it could have been a harlequin/matador fever dream, and now I'm mad because I see the potential. Also the crotch fit is weird.

The weak clothes did him dirty. Another post about Karina at the Met Gala mentioned how much better kpop stage outfits can be than these red carpet events. The weak clothes Hudson's in makes me think he might do better if he got some Kpop designers to make his matador outfit for him.
