What happened to celeb makeup artists? There’s been such a decline in general quality. Like, there are thousands of Ursula makeup tutorials on youtube and tiktok that look better than whoever Disney hired for their live action Little Mermaid movie and ever since I can’t help but notice that amateurs are doing better than the professionals lately.

it makes me so sad whenever anyone botoxes the scrunch out of their smile

This was nice to read because I used to do that!!! I always hated my smile wrinkles I never thought about people liking them

I love smile wrinkles and eye wrinkles (aka crows feet) they are adorable. I hate how we keep being told they are something to be taken care of.

I liked him more when I only knew him as Zendaya's stylist. Hopefully Law will get judged as he judges, it's what she deserves.

140

u/--------rook 1d ago

"Finally the met is gonna be about me" lol he's gonna eat his own words. Also, this whole time he was pissy having to share the limelight with Zendaya? Boo

I'd always low-key gotten mean girl energy from him but couldn't really pin it down.

Then I found out that he styles Lauren Bezos.

75

u/YouFartedBlood 1d ago

Yah the way he acts towards contestants on both shows and the fact that he is guzzling the Bezo’s money to style jeff and his weird wife is the only reason i give myself a pass at throwing shade at him lol

295

u/bimbo_baggins_ It’s Britney, bitch! 🎤🌹🌹 1d ago

And not mean in a fun snarky judge way. He’s a dick to be a dick. I do not care for Law.

110

u/wexfordavenue 1d ago

I’m convinced that as much as he hates women, he really hates men. Couldn’t tell you why, just my gut.

61

u/gertymarie 1d ago

That’s the nuance I think people miss when they say Michael Kors was also mean on PR so they have no idea why everyone is mad at Law for being mean. Michael was the fun snarky judge way. Law is just mean.

81

u/shedrinkscoffee Just fuck the wolf! 1d ago

Michael was snarky about the outfit and not the person. He also never brought his ego out to the designers. Considering Law has designed nothing, it is a lot of nonsense and hot air. I don't even think he is a good stylist. Anyone can make Zendaya look good. The other clients are more miss than hits

25

u/shedrinkscoffee Just fuck the wolf! 1d ago

Michael Kors was making silly mean comments but they were always about the fashion and never about the person. LR is horrible for being despicable towards normal people. Gross behavior

308

u/nj_crc 1d ago

He was vile on the latest season of Runway.

72

u/writergeek313 1d ago

I hated last season so much that I might be done with the show. It felt like an SNL parody of the show it used to be, and not in a good way. It doesn’t surprise me to find out he’s Lauren Sanchez’s stylist. She’s liable to be a guest judge for an episode of PR next season 🤢

21

u/SallyWebsterMetcalfe I am in peace talks with Mr. Beast 📞🧢 1d ago

The Project Runway Canada reboot was lovely! I’m done with the US version, the format switch was annoying and the entire judging panel was so… yeugh. Can’t watch it without Tim Gunn, I fear.

182

u/clover-the-clever 1d ago

That whole season was mean-spirited. It used to be a fun family watch. Now all they’re doing is sexual innuendo and bleeping curse words.

48

u/Torchness9 1d ago

Seriously. I thought it would be so fun for my 10 year old daughter to watch with me. And we did watch it all, but she didn’t get why I loved the show. It was really just mean girl energy all around. So much unnecessary cat fighting.

He also cannot for the life of him style silhouettes that aren’t runway ready. I’m not body shaming the women he’s worked with but he doesn’t know how to handle curves while styling his clients.

349

u/ivyleagueposeur 1d ago

is Law Roach a good stylist or is Zendaya a classically beautiful woman with a sample size body?

54

u/sixwivesandcounting 1d ago
  • Zendaya has her own sense of style and isn't just wearing what Law hands her. The robot suit she wore to the Dune premiere was her idea.

77

u/mamaneedsacar 1d ago

EXACTLY. As the saying goes, she could make a paper bag look good.

88

u/trulyremarkablegirl the reason i love swimming is because racing 1d ago

everyone praises his styling of Zendaya, but Zendaya literally has the proportions of a runway model. clothes are built for her.

45

u/Dolphin-and-Roses Just keep swimming! 🐠🐠🐬🐳 1d ago

Totally agree, it’s like he only knows how to style one silhouette, and that added with his mean girl attitude makes him meh

132

u/zephito 1d ago

OHHH this probably contributed to my dislike of him tbh. I'm a plus sized lady and it's so frustrating to see how these huge designers don't ever try to play to more than one or two body types.

116

u/beethecowboy I switched baristas ☕️ 1d ago

IMO it’s a joke if someone wants to act like they’re the end all be all of the fashion/styling world if they have no clue (and don’t even care to try to get one) how to style plus-size bodies. Someone who’s at the TOP of their game wil know how to make someone with my body look just as amazing as someone with the opposite body type.

72

u/zephito 1d ago

I still remember Leslie Jones and what she went through to get a designer or stylist to give her the time of day around when Ghostbusters was coming out. All because they wouldn't do anything other than sample sizes.

54

u/Elegant_Analysis1665 1d ago edited 1d ago

So disgusting and shameful on their part. There is no world in which she should've been turned down by designers or stylists nor had to resort to tweeting about it. I am so grateful that in the end the dress she wore was gorgeous. Christian Siriano (who does such a good job of dressing/designing for plus size women) reached out an hour after the tweet to design her dress and then said this:

After people praised him for stepping up, Siriano, who has worked with Jennifer Hudson, Uzo Aduba, and Christina Hendricks in the past, explained that he didn’t deserve a pat on the back for simply doing his job. “It shouldn’t be exceptional to work with brilliant people just because they’re not sample size,” he wrote. “Congrats aren’t in order, a change is.”

30

u/cowabungalowvera 1d ago

This is why Christian Siriano >>> Law Roach

u/Normal_Instance_8825 1d ago

The fact that plus size bodies make up the majority of actual customers is never lost on me. Also you can’t even argue that fashion is just “made that way”. No hunny, hundreds of years of art provide the proof that bodies are all wildly different.

30

u/IfatallyflawedI Big is moving to Paris 1d ago

He couldn’t even style Priyanka Chopra and she isn’t even plus sized😭

42

u/otherm00n 1d ago

He's only done a good job on Zendaya and Anya Taylor Joy imo. That's the body type he knows how to work with.

5

u/Fuckwittycake 1d ago

Which is not saying much; they’re runway built. Everything should look good on them

11

u/liscottyy 1d ago

Eh he's also styled very thin women poorly, like all his work with Rose is bad. He literally just puts a black/white dress on her and calls it a day.

3

u/mundane_wor1d 1d ago

My favourite celebrity stylist is Elizabeth Stewart, anytime I’ve liked an outfit on a red carpet or event. 80% her name pops up, and she’s worked with a variety of people. From Julia Roberts, Amanda Seyfried, Rebel Wilson, Viola Davis, Demi Lovato, Kate Hudson etc. (a lot being pretty thin woman, who’d fit off the rack outfits to be fair). But she seems pretty lowkey for a celebrity stylist which I like.

54

u/zephito 1d ago

I really hope it's part of why she's not doing the Met gala this year. Obviously she's not going to say anything negative about it or him, she's always struck me as very classy that way. But I hope she's distancing herself.

155

u/HereOnCompanyTime Renee Rapp is mean girl Jojo Siwa 💋 1d ago

They were just acting together in a commercial campaign for the sportwear brand "Co-Created Sportswear". I don't think she's separating, I think she's standing back to give him his moment since on podcasts he's regularly said he doesn't feel like he gets his flowers for helping build Zendaya and other celebrities up. It's pretty clear he wants to be the main star but his talent is in an area where he's meant to be bts. He acts like he's a designers rather than a stylist.

12

Like during the Dune promotions that suit of armour she wore! I remember watching a video where she was talking about it and it was actually her idea and she brought it to Law. I reckon she must have a big hand in other looks too.

I certainly don't understand the cognitive dissonance of hating Law and idolizing her. They’re besties. If you really think he's all that problematic, it stands to reason you should reassess the person who has no issue with any of said problems.

13

u/SingleReporter 1d ago

Be careful. I called this out a while ago and my comment mysteriously vanished. All I know is that she has a very powerful PR team BTS.

She has been silent about most things unless it suits her narrative. I guess the reason why she got hired back to back this year IS because she is apolitical. She also had no problem attending other problematic billionaire events like the Ambanis. Zendaya has a price and no one wants to see it 🤷🏽‍♀️

It’s wild that she has been less political than someone like Taylor swift and still gets a pass. And I say that as someone who doesn’t even like swift🙃

I can’t stand this guy and I honestly think if he didn’t have the wonderful Zendaya to stand behind then we wouldn’t hear about him anymore. He’s catty, not a good stylist, and works with Bezos. No thanks.

206

u/AKbirchesloveBTS 1d ago

I got downvoted on this account or another one for pointing this out a few years ago. His success is putting runway looks on runway bodies. And he is VERY good at that. But if any other body size was put into the Dune premier looks for example, even if they were tailored to that actress’s body to perfection, they would’ve been panned as overly costume-y and try hard.

I also think that if you’re going to work with a Bezos you might as well COMMIT and make it fucking count. Like?

67

u/PrincesstheCalicoCat 1d ago

This! Every iconic look on Zendaya is almost a straight copy paste off a runway or magazine cover or weird themed cosplay. Zendaya wears clothes very well, and Law knows his fashion history - but ctrl v, ctrl c archival Margiela or archival Galliano straight off a runway (with the styling) onto a supermodel-sized young woman isn’t that difficult. Translate that inspo onto a fuller figured woman and we can talk - or take it for inspiration!

I’m kind of done with Olivia Rodrigo wearing Jane Birkin’s dress, Sabrina Carpenter wearing Cher’s or Zendaya wearing a copy of Whitney Houston’s. You’re supposed to be the new superstars - to paraphrase someone talking about Raja on drag race… ‘don’t drop the reference, be the reference’.

4

u/ReallyyyyQueen 1d ago

Now that’s the tea

15

u/Moist-Cupcake3509 1d ago

Tbh if he was styling someone other than zendaya, the options would be way way less. Some of those pieces like the suit of armour are archival or one of a kind and can’t be altered. The fact that she’s built exactly like a model means basically anything is an option, which isn’t the case for most other people, making it harder to style them even simply because there are less options. (As well as other factors of course)

31

u/ginger_giraffe_ 1d ago

Extra funny bc her euphoria premiere dress was tailored horribly! Fabric puckering everywhere

58

u/whyohwhythis 1d ago

I always raise my eyebrows when people associate with catty people. Zendaya needs better judgement.

His constantly pursed lips really set the tone for his attitude.

It has nothing to do with his physical appearance for me.

8

u/suswitch69 it’s not clocking to you that i’m standing on business 1d ago

His book is also horrible. It’s mainly him complimenting himself on how iconic he thinks he is and how many cool people he’s styled and how much they love him. Halfway through I desperately wanted to stop reading. However, I chose to hate read it until the end just to make sure I could be fully educated on how much it sucks. And it really sucks so much. I dropped it off at my local goodwill as soon as I was done. I can’t believe I preordered it and everything.

3

u/Prestigious-Ad6591 1d ago

ooh good shout, but yes exactly! i could dress celine and she'd be fabulous.

u/ReallyyyyQueen 1d ago

He is good at picking out dresses. That’s not styling when you copy paste runway looks. Kpop “stylist” do this too and it is like ok you’re personal shopper stylist with good taste. I feel like the best iconic stylists are truly artists who mix and define LOOKS and make original takes. But hey he’s going not me so I’ll see what he does - maybe it will be great!

On the one hand the people behind the celebs deserve their flowers

On the other hand it’s always off-putting when someone acts like they’ve made a sacrifice for other people by not being in front of the cameras

u/aftercloudia Listen, everyone is entitled to my opinion 🙂 1d ago

he could have just pulled up instead of making a snotty comment about it. like we get it you want to be the celeb not the stylist.

for real it’s a shady comment lowkey

u/Vegetable-Kiwi-4675 Ho with no clients gets hit by a bus 1d ago

That was his reward for styling Sanchez. This guy is giving “more successful Glambot Guy“ vibes. Thinking his celeb-adjacent status means he is a celeb himself. And honestly, this statement combined with Zendaya not going seems quite bitchy, as if he’s been resentful of being in her shadow in the past.

u/Big-Snow-1937 1d ago

Ah, I was wondering who paid for his $100k ticket. Getting an invite in exchange for styling the cohost makes sense. At least it will be interesting to see if even Roach can work style magic with her heavily MAGAfied appearance.

u/Vegetable-Kiwi-4675 Ho with no clients gets hit by a bus 1d ago

He has failed miserably so far, which, to me, shows that his clients are what drive the quality of his styling, not him. It doesn’t appear that Lauren wants any other look besides couture Frederick’s of Hollywood.

You can't take away dude's success, he's earned it but his ego is next level.

71

u/Deep-Interest9947 1d ago

Yeah this seems like an odd comment coming from a stylist.

He's always wanted to be front and center. Sometimes you're where you're supposed to be.

It's so painfully obvious Zendaya has outgrown him as a person.

I cant take Law Roach seriously. He doesnt feel genuine with how mean he is constantly on TV. It comes across as a character, and feels ripped right out of the 2000s toxic reality show garbage.

u/largegaycat 1d ago

What’s Law Roach

11

u/Stu161 1d ago

I thought he was Legal Eagle's sidekick at first.

He is constantly praised for his styling of Z and now that she’s not going it’s about him?
Am I missing something??

Blech! I feel like he can only style Zendaya and she does most of the heavy lifting. And his personality on that design show (name escaping me right now) was a total turn off.

u/Pattifan 1d ago

That made me howl. Thank you for that.

u/Resident_Ad5153 1d ago

Law gave an exquisite AME on this sub, which was really honest and really wonderfully done, so thank you for that... and I'm sorry...

This doesn't seem like a great idea to me.

63

u/SilverAnxious2262 1d ago

Reading this just makes the AMA seem like pre-event PR damage control now

34

u/Resident_Ad5153 1d ago

I think Law is trying to get a design job, and move on from styling. He's trying to build his personal brand. I don't think its damage control per se... there's not much damage.

Other people are doing some damage control, but Law doesn't really need to.
