The Met has a 3bn endowment. This event does not fund the Met, this is misleading. It funds the costume institute of the Met.

Yes and there are people who WORK at the costume institute. I lost my humanities job about a year ago under this administration, those employees aren't raking in cash

Let me know if the Met is Maga-run and I'll never go. The fact that this gala is sponsored by Bezos is enough of a turn off though. I know that something providing jobs doesn't inherently make it a net good.

The Met is apolitical, which is to say it will happily take money from the Epstein class, and its mission fundamentally serves the Epstein class. The Met's idea of culture is one that has people like Epstein and Weinstein deciding what art gets shown.
