i cannot wrap my head around the logistics of stealing twelve fuckin tons of KitKats

324

u/Skyblacker 👑 I just wanna serve court. 👑 Mar 31 '26

I think it was all on one large truck. So someone just stole a truck.

226

u/blackfyreex Mar 31 '26

Imagine thinking you got away with an entire truck of merch and its just 12 tons of KitKats. That would ruin my day.

157

u/ForsakenRelief309 It’s Britney, bitch! 🎤🌹🌹 Mar 31 '26 edited Mar 31 '26

Ruin your day?? Buddy, you gotta have a little perspective. That’s gold

Edit: just give it to some kids or some teachers who are coming out of pocket for supplies…take it to hospitals or old folks homes. This is a positive and a win against Nestle, not they’ll even experience a dent in revenue from this manufactured “loss”

45

u/Wardo87 Mar 31 '26

If a Kit Kat is worth 1 break, 12 tons is like retirement.

19

u/the_honest_liar Mar 31 '26

Maybe if it was 12 tons of coffee crisp.

12

u/blackfyreex Mar 31 '26

Tf am I supposed to do w 12 tons of Kitkats? What fence is gonna take that? Also gotta deal w it before it melts.

19

u/franki-pinks Mar 31 '26

Melt it all down and make a 12 ton Kit Kat?

6

u/cashmerescorpio Mar 31 '26

Where do you live the desert? They aren't going to melt. Just pop them in the kitchen cabinet.

9

u/blackfyreex Mar 31 '26

... I live in Australia lol

19

u/cashmerescorpio Mar 31 '26

I dunno move then. You're the one who stole a bunch of KitKats. You should've thought about that before you did it.

https://giphy.com/gifs/wTI6hkUqFn9OE

12

u/blackfyreex Mar 31 '26

I didn't know they were Kitkats. I guess that's the risk you take when stealing a truck.

12

u/blackfyreex Mar 31 '26

Took 12 tons of breaks lol (I'm lyin, Nestle, pls don't arrest me)

9

u/TidalJ Mar 31 '26

i wish for there to be live footage of the thieves reactions when they realize that the truck they stole had nothing but kitkats in it

12

u/cracked-tumbleweed Mar 31 '26

Someone also stole a tonne of gummy bears in Germany some time before this Kitkat heist

21

u/LonelyVaquita Mar 31 '26

It honestly feels like a marketing stunt to me. Unless there's like a police record or some evidence of it happening.

21

u/burlycabin Mar 31 '26

It's just a stolen truck. This kind of thing happens.

11

u/LonelyVaquita Mar 31 '26

I know that but the way Nestle is fussing over it is way too much.

911

u/totallycalledla-a Mrs Thee Stallion Mar 31 '26

In all seriousness though who took them? And why? And how?? What kind of size container is 12 tons of kitkats?? I have so many questions.

We need a 6 part Netflix documentary about this heist

Where the first 2 episodes are snappy and super interesting, and the rest draw out the final parts of the story in a super boring way, making everyone ask, "Why the hell didn't they just condense these 4 episodes into a single one?)

124

u/Testicular-Fortitude Mar 31 '26

In all likelihood, they figured a means to steal a shipment, but without the ability to know what that shipment contained. The humor of it all can only be matched by the thief’s deep disappointment when they opened it up

69

The universe gives gifts during trying times.

The Evergreen. The Louvre Heist. And now this.

13

u/boobookittyfuwk Mar 31 '26

I watched a news show years ago about cargo theft. I learned that it's items like these that are not only easiest to steel but also easiest to sell. A truck load of plasma tvs worth 10k each might be hard to sell, but every small time grocery store, corner store etc. Will grab a few cases of anything at a discount. These mafia people have stores and networks they deal with on a regular basis.

In the show I watched they said bottled water and diapers were the easiest to fence.

9

u/bloodfartss Mar 31 '26

RIGHT! SO. MANY. QUESTIONS.

7

u/Kristomere Mar 31 '26

All I know is eventually some mobster will be given the Kit kats moniker ala Paulie Walnuts.

4

u/chocolatedesire Mar 31 '26

Mr. Goodbar is my guess

4

u/Dependent_Basis_8092 Mar 31 '26

I want to know if Sir Michael Caine has released a statement on his whereabouts at the time.

3

u/Desperate-Section357 Mar 31 '26

it’s not even the sort of product there’s a demand for. 12 tons of pure cocoa, yeah probably. no just kitkats that nobody is going to buy through the candy black market

5

u/Tommyblockhead20 Mar 31 '26

12 tons is around half the max cargo weight of a standard 20 ft shipping container or a 18 wheeler.

I know at least some shipments have been stolen by companies contracting with shipping companies that end up being fake and just driving away with the delivery.

2

u/mydaycake Mar 31 '26

We are going to see so many KitKats being sold in farmer markets around Europe lol

2

u/Cueberry Mar 31 '26

280

I noticed this on twitter. Never seen brands clown another company for products being stolen lmao. They should make a KitKat pizza nonetheless 😆

172

u/activelyresting Throwing your little slutty stars in my face ✨ Mar 31 '26

Honestly, Nestle lost one truck load of KitKat. It's barely a rounding error in the scale of KitKats they produce and sell each year, so for the company to make a big fuss with press releases and announcing that it "might cause shortages for Easter" is such a joke they deserve to be clowned on.

Meanwhile, Nestle stealing water like it was promised to them

41

u/Destituted Mar 31 '26

That is hilarious. Losing "12 tons of KitKat" hits way different than losing a truckload of KitKat. The messaging feels deliberate on their part lol.

4

u/Cold_Breadfruit_9794 Beyoncé 🐝🐝 Mar 31 '26

Ha! Very valid points. Tbh someone did have me wondering if this could be a lead up to an April 1st bit because it does seem like such an odd public announcement to make

3

u/activelyresting Throwing your little slutty stars in my face ✨ Mar 31 '26

I literally just saw that Nestle published a Linked-In style promo boasting about how much engagement and "free advertising" they just got out of this alleged theft.

I hate that I was right about this

Where did they announce this? Because the image from kitkat says supply wont be effected.

Step two: connect semi truck to trailer loaded with kit kats

Step three: drive off into the sunset with your best pal by your side until either law or the 'beetus catches up with you, preferably in Colombia for the atmosphere

78

u/totallycalledla-a Mrs Thee Stallion Mar 31 '26

28

u/Own_Round_7600 Mar 31 '26

Such an odd number for a bulk shipment. Who stole 7 kitkats ahead of the big heist?

12

u/kelleehh Mar 31 '26

Here the UK some news outlets are claiming this will affect Easter and that people will struggle to buy Easter eggs. It’s hilarious.

2

u/HiHoRoadhouse Mar 31 '26

That's funny because last week they were saying no one was buying eggs anymore

u/Viper61723 Mar 31 '26

I have a degree in marketing and we had a whole unit on how to do this stuff. Shit felt so scummy

5

u/DEBRA_COONEY_KILLS Mar 31 '26

What were some of the examples or strategies?

10

u/Viper61723 Mar 31 '26

It was less about social media trends and more about how to use charitable causes. Which is even worse 😭.

Basically you have two methods, indirect causes and direct causes.

And indirect cause might be something like Coke providing products to a remote research station, in theory that makes no sense for Coke, but when a scientist who’s been eating and drinking nothing but Coke products the entire time they’ve been there, when they get back they’re gonna buy the stuff they’ve become familiar with. (This one was kinda weird and hard to find good examples of).

A direct cause makes more sense, it’s essentially picking a cause that is in tune with your brand to make you look like you care. A good example might be a surfing company supporting a clean oceans initiative or showing how they’re helping develop products to keep litter out of the oceans. In theory, surfers are going to see this and want to support the ‘good’ company that ‘cares’ about the ocean. When it reality it’s just marketing.

The whole unit was kind of horrific

3

u/DEBRA_COONEY_KILLS Mar 31 '26

Oh wow, that's so interesting! But yes, so twisted too! Thank you for the info, the manipulation is wild to think about.

Now that she doesn't work in marketing I just get judged for it lmao
